So, I often don't say "wow" after my Chinese food dinners but, wow. First of all, the portions are ginormous...please note that (6) appetizers is far too much for two people. Second, the batter is just about as good as I can remember in all my years of eating Chinese food. Alot of breading, which I like, and fried to perfection. Check out the picture...their fried shrimp is top/left...the size of your hand. That brings me to the frying... Finally, all of the apps that were fried were perfect...crispiness, color, flavor..I think this is the distinguishing character among fried chicken tenders. I don't understand the negative reviews. I really like this place. I got the lunch special sesame chicken which was less than $10. It came with broccoli, crab rangoon, pork fried rice and egg drop soup. Everything was excellent. Much better than what you'd expect for a little Chinese take away joint. It was also a lot of food. I ordered chicken fried rice with extra veggies. after a few bites I was curious what veggie was having a strange texture. I picked up a white item and broke it in half. it was chicken and it was totally pink inside! Every piece was uncooked! I threw it out. I've grown up eating Chinese from this location. I usually go for the orange chicken and crab Rangoon which are alwayssss very delicious. The family is always very friendly and are quick to action. The only complaint is that the chicken used in items such as fried rice and the curry chicken was extremely rubbery so much so I believed it was squid or some sort of fish initially. I definitely recommend this place for the area but be weary about those chicken dishes! read more

I was hesitant about trying out this restaurant based upon very positive and very negative reviews on Yelp and Google. The pan fried pork dumplings were pretty tasty (it meets expectations for Americanized Chinese food). However, the scallion pancakes were too hard and had barely any scallions in them. We have been getting take out at China Taste for years! And that is simply because no other take out compares!!! We have sampled ALL other local places. Where as one other location does have a certain specialty we enjoy, I prefer the spot on Crab Rangoon-never too greasy, General Tsao's has the perfect crisp coat with irresistible flavor. Love their steamed dumplings-my brother-in-law drives from Windham once a week because he can't resist them. First off this place has been in Yarmouth forever and one bad review is not going to stop anyone from eating there. Second off the owners are super friendly and so my apologies for saying this is the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Pork fried rice is FULL of raw onions, carrots, and the lunch portion came with a tsp of greasy pork. Broccoli chicken was 80 % broccoli. In my grandmother's words when I asked about her VEG low mein: "it's just noodles, broccoli, and raw white onions" The crab rangoons are phenomenal!!!! read more

This is perhaps the worst Chinese restaurant that I have ever eaten in. I ordered the pupu plater for one. First what was good the bar-b-que pork ribs were tasty although the were chopped up so small that they could have been added to fried rice. The teriyaki beef was tasteless as was the chicken wing. The shrimp and chicken fingers had the worst thick coating that I have ever experienced in my life. The egg roll was crispy on the ends but the filling was unidentifiable. Not sure how this place has such bad reviews. I loved it! The General Tso was crispy, sweet and perfect. The egg role was juicy and crisp. The fried rice... perfect. I hate giving local places a lukewarm rating but I can't give it anything else. It was very salty, very greasy, my husband ordered the Sesame Beef and said it was OK, I ordered the Moo Shu it was just OK, we had an order of the House Fried Rice which I think was the worst we had ever had with a peculiar order and color. Our normally favorite Hot and Sour Soup anywhere else.. was awful...just swimming in grease. Other than this lukewarm recommendation, the preparer was friendly, speedy. The food she packed up for us could have served a family of six (we are in our seventies now and eat less.) This is a walk up and order at the counter or a call in. If you pick up and have to drive over a mile take a carrier that will preserve some heat, we live two miles and had to reheat everything. The restaurant was very clean. The service was quick and courteous and it was great to be able to watch my food being prepared. I received my food faster than I might at a drive through window. The menu above the counter was limited but there were more selections inside of their paper menu. I ordered the spring rolls and a small order of chicken fried rice. Not sure what's going on here but I do know it's not even up to standard quality. Chicken tasted bad and was very chewy. Sauces had a strange aftertaste. Even the fortune cookies were stale and soft (have to say that was a first for me). Prices were low though, and the Lo Mein was decent. Bad. Very bad. Fried rice is neon yellow, taste is awful. Crab Ragoons were dripping in oil and soggy, lo mein was nasty and tasted very bad & we found hair in it. Never again! Should have listened to the neighbors, they said it was not good, and China Rose in Freeport was worth the drive. I don't understand how China Taste stays open. I love that this place has been around so long, and I would like to remain loyal, but I can't accept their fried rice! :( It's saffron yellow rice with mixed vegetables in it, and then protein if you wish...not good! Went to get some take out from there today with my husband who is from the area and has had good experiences. Got our food home and found a cigarette butt in the food. When I called to complain, the woman had no idea what I was saying. She didn't know what cigarette was and could offer no apology. She asked for my phone number to call me back and I never received a call. This is disgusting and an extreme health hazard if I had actually consumed the filter. read more

I've been here dozens of times and always enjoyed the food. Their teriyaki beef sticks are so juicy and delicious! It's true that the food comes in styrofoam containers and the dining area lacks atmosphere (they mostly do take-out) but the food is always tasty and plentiful and the prices are right for a budget-minded family.
