We probably get take-out here at least 4 times a month!! Consistently good. Friendly! Fresh! Our favorites are won ton soup (wonderful broth and tender won ton), Singapore rice noodle, yang chow fried rice, beef with eggplant in garlic sauce. This restaurant is a pretty typical strip mall Chinese food place that serves basic Americanized Chinese food. If you are looking for a quick combo plate than I would recommend it. The boneless pork was very good and the fried rice was decent. The other fried items tasted pretty good but were very greasy. I would also recommend getting takeout since the interior is a bit rundown and the tables are sticky. The staff/owners are quite friendly and the food comes out very quickly read more

My dad had a saying about pain....'why do people bang their heads against concrete? It feels so good when they stop!' I was (momentarily) happy when Little China opened. A new Chinese place! I gave them FOUR tries, but every experience seemed worse until I decided to "stop banging my head on the concrete". Warm food......okay they're new and will get it right. Wrong order......you would think that they would have this figured out. Cold food/missing and wrong item.......I am starting to take this personally. (A while later) WORST tasting/tough/unappetizing looking food I have ever taken out.......to the point where I drove back there to discuss it. Out comes a little Chinese woman who SEEMS to speak NO English. After 10 minutes of getting nowhere, I left my $41 order on the counter and left. Here are my conclusions ...... 1- I don't care who thinks that their food is good (or better); I had 4 ridiculous experiences. 2 - For the money, I will go to China Taste on Main Stree in Yarmouth. The FEW times anything was wrong they fixed it and apologized. 3 - China Rose in Freeport is FAR SUPERIOR and for the little more you pay the quality is exponentially greater. I have no idea how Little China has stayed in business, but for the record, I am actually pretty easy to please. Just not there. read more

Love it! My go to Chinese Take-Out! Actually thinking about it now....I may order some tonight...mmmm :) SUPER friendly service, very quick as well. They tell me 20 minutes and my order is usually done within 15. I've tried several different Chinese take outs in Portland and they do not compare. One thing for certain is the price here at Little China Express. Very very fairly priced food. You get some great deals with the combination platters. You gotta try this place out. It's worth it. It reminds me of my favorite Chinese spot back home in Jersey. Great food, great service, great prices! :) This is not a place to sit down and have a family dinner - Little China Express is meant to be for take out! read more

Best Asian food takeout in the Falmouth/Yarmouth area - IMHO. We have never eaten in the restaurant as it is a bit small and worn down, but perhaps wear and tear means, they have been here a long time and have a lot of traffic? Either way, it doesn't doesn't affect the rating, after I am hear for the food, not furniture shopping :) If you do happen to dine in, there is WiFi and they publish the password on the wall near the drink cooler. Convenient and this tells me, they are rushing people out of the door. On the same sign, they welcome and request your feedback on how they are doing, they truly do want to be sure that you are happy with the food. The other night my husband picked up his food and they said they had someone new cooking and they wanted to be sure we let them know if we weren't happy. The owner/worker(?) said he thought the food was good, but he wanted to be sure we thought so ok. It was great! Here are the dishes we usually get and LOVE: the lo mein with beef, no veggies; beef with broccoli; curry chicken fried rice, chicken fingers, and dumplings. So consistently good for us. We always call our order in and it is all fresh and ready within 25 minutes. We have never had any ordering issues and there is plenty of food for everyone, with all of the sauces and loaded of fortune cookies! Located in a strip with other businesses, right off of Rt. 1 intersection of Middle Rd and Portland St. Plenty of parking at the end of the plaza. The owners(?) seems so nice and are always so busy at the register and on the phone. We hope they continue to stay in the area and run this restaurant. We Love Little China Express. :) read more

Very good option to get typical American / Chinese dishes with a few surprises. And they've worked out a good method for serving the public thru the Covid 19 situation. Below-average Chinese-American food based on the limited food items I've gotten here. As examples, compared to the thousands of other Chinese restaurants in our country, I found a few specific differences. The dumplings have a massive amount of thick breading with only a small amount of meat filling. The fried chicken dishes (like sesame chicken and genera tsao's) also seem to be tough over cooked tiny pieces of chicken, I suppose if you really need a Chinese food fix this place will potential totally scratch that itch but i won't be rushing back. read more

First, the customer service is awesome. We are always greeted happily and accommodated very well. Poo Poo Platter was great. I wanted to try a little bit of every appetizer and the platter was obviously the way to go. The batter on the fried items were tasty, light and not greasy. The shrimp meat was large and flaky. The pork was tender and seasoned well. The teriyaki beef was what I wanted the most but ended up liking the least. It's not the best cut of meat, it's more like shaved/formed pieces of beef. The teriyaki sauce was good. Cashew Chicken was solid. It wasn't exactly authentic cashew sauce. I think they put their own spin on it. It was pretty good technically, we're just not used to the way they do it. Szechuan Chicken was really good. Perfectly seasoned and the vegetables were crisp. We're happy to see a good Chinese takeout so close to us. read more

This our go-to Chinese food joint, with super friendly owners and solid cuisine. My young son loves a number of dishes, and they'll do special orders and substitutions as requested. Not so great... The crab rangoon were overstuffed with filling that was predominantly cream cheese, with tiny amounts of green onion and crab stick, cooked nicely though. General Tso's chicken was overcooked and tasted like ketchup/tomato sauce and not much else; the broccoli was fresh though. Tofu mixed veg was edible. This place caters to predominantly Americans and those who love American style "Chinese" food. Contains typical fried and oily foods like lo mein, crab rangoon, egg rolls, etc. They charge for extras (ex: .60 cents for soup) on their luncheon selections. The vegetables were partly uncooked or some may say "crunchy." The sauces they used were mainly made of excess amounts of sugar and salts. I cannot believe they sell dumplings at $7 when they look and taste like the frozen ones I buy from the Asian grocery store ($4 for bag of 50). The appearance of the tiny dumplings clearly gave away to me that they did not make them at all. I would not recommend going here but to go to Chopsticks. I'm really surprised this isn't rated higher than China Taste. My husband and I have tried both and this is the winner hands down! Their pu pu platter for two is delicious. My only complaint is that they put shredded lettuce in their fried rice. It gives the rice a slightly strange taste and is a pain to pick out, but necessary if like me you don't want soggy lettuce in your fried rice. Their beef teriyaki easily makes up for this though! read more

Heard great stuff about this place...tried the chicken low mein, and crab rangoons. It was the worse chinese food I've ever had. I didn't know low mein could taste so terrible. Crab rangoons were basically just cream cheese. I wouldn't recommend it. I'd recommend happy garden is scarborough. Much better. I've been craving Chinese food all day and decided due to the snowy weather that I would stay local to satisfy my Chinese tooth. I stopped by the Little China Express on a snowy evening after work and ordered the Pupu Platter for one. I ate the meal upon arriving home (some of it anyway. my stomach isn't big enough for the whole thing). For the portions you are getting, the prices are very reasonable. The platter was just under ten dollars. The fried chicken and shrimp were good. The egg roll was not what I was used to flavor-wise but it was huge and paired well with the side of duck sauce they gave me. The barbecue spare ribs smelled a little off, like, oddly enough, coconut flakes. I'm not sure if this means they are still good or if they have been sitting in the fridge for a little too long. The beef teriyaki stick was good, though I wish it had been more on the rare side. Next time I plan on trying a more heart-healthy meal, like snow peas and lo mein or pad thai. The staff were very accomodating and friendly and I appreciated the free hot tea on a cold February evening. They need to do a little work with the decorations, as you could see all of the boxes for the kitchen which were barely hidden by a mural. It was also very quiet. I was hoping for some background Chinese music, or anything, other than that awkward silence as I waited for my food. Needs some improvements but otherwise a good 3 star experience. read more

Friendly staff and reasonably fast service, but the food is cooked with too much oil for my taste. Perhaps because of the oil, most dishes taste a bit bland. While they do have some dine-in seating, the ambiance is not all that appealing. Stick to takeout. Panda Garden in Portland seems to have the least oil and most flavor in their offerings, of the restaurants I have tried in the area. read more
