I ordered about $40 worth of food for delivery - something I do frequently. I ordered veggie chow mein and specified that I wanted just broccoli, carrot and mushroom for the vegetables. I get two separate phone calls from a "manager" attempting to verify what I was trying to order. I reiterated that I wanted those three vegetables in chow mein sauce with soft egg noodles. I got a Tupperware full of vegetables. Since I spent almost $50 including tip I was not very happy so I called and spoke to the "manager" who refused to remedy the situation. I was told I made a mistake in ordering. Fine. Except for the fact that I had TWO conversations with the same "manager" who was also supposedly cooking my food prior to her actually cooking it. So if I was telling her I wanted soft egg noodles, it would have made sense to maybe clarify that in either of those conversations that basically no you'll be getting a bunch of vegetables in some sauce. So I paid $10 for a bunch of vegetables in chow mein sauce. The problem is - this "manager" called me twice after my initial phone call the verify exactly what I was ordering. I told her exactly what I wanted several times before she made it because she "wanted to get it right". She did not get it right and when I called back to ask if they could fix the situation by reiterating yet again what I had ordered, I was told I could go pick it up myself. When I said "my foot is broken and I can't drive hence the reason I asked for delivery, what if I spent the $15 minimum on delivery and order more food?" Even though I had already spent almost 3 times the delivery minimum already, she STILL refused to send a driver out to deliver. I get it - if I made a mistake that's fine and my problem. However, not only did she refuse to send a delivery driver after I offered to spend another $15, after calling me twice to verify and still completing getting it wrong, she then HUNG UP ON ME. By the way lady, I've worked at a Chinese restaurant for 8 years - from what little Mandarin/Cantonese I know, I understood you loud and clear. So basically if you are persistent enough when your food gets messed up, they'll swear at you in Chinese assuming you don't understand and then just hang up on you. Very professional. EDIT: no sauce. Just steamed vegetables. I paid $10 for steamed vegetables. Nice. read more

Been there twice now. Everything has always been fresh and fantastic! Last night we got orange chicken, dumplings and D4 dinner combination (chop suey with shrimp as my protein). All of the combinations come with an egg roll, pork fried rice and soup. I got the hot and sour soup. It was hot and slimy and just what I wanted along side a chop suey filled with yummy fresh veggies and excellent, not over cooked, delectable baby shrimp! It's not on the menu as a spicy option but I asked for 4/5 spice and received it. It was an American 4 so next time I'll ask for 5 star if I want it. There were a few people in the dining room but we didn't stay because the hustle and bustle of a busy take out place and noise from the kitchen were too much for me. Our takeout bag was carefully packed and everything was separated by recycled cardboard to add structure and stability. We will definitely be back! read more

One of the best Chinese eateries around .... located on Main Street in Westbrook Me .... been several times and no complaints.We have also ordered it to be delivered and receive it hot , fresh and even comes with all the sauces , silverware (plastic but that's ok )... My husband and I love Chinese food and have tried several restaurants but none have been given our unqualified approval with the exception of China Villa!!! Their food is delicious! I like my food no spicy but it still has great flavor. My husband goes for 2 stars and China Villa is the only place we found that the amount of spice is just right!!! He is a very picky eater but never has a negative comment about anything from China Villa. Also the meat--especially the beef is so tender, flavorful, and plentiful. Since Lang's has to close do to Sonny passing away ... It really sucked for me long long time because if I order food it's only Chinese food so I had legally no way to order from... So then you know about a year after Sonny had passed away and Lang's head closed cuz his son's did not want legs restaurant so they sold you know they sold it and now that where it says Dunkin' donuts on St John Street so like I said about a year after I need passed away and the kids had sold the building and so I sleep over my best friend's house and Westbrook and I am craving Chinese food cuz now it's been legitly like a year year and a half I haven't eaten no Chinese food like I am craving it as if I was pregnant with triplets and I'm not pregnant at all so like I said I'm at my girl's house in Westbrook and there's a place called China Villa over there now see I didn't want to waste my money because I've never eaten nowhere but leggings my girl that lives in Westbrook has never eaten there so I said screw it I'm going to order off my card to screw it we don't like it we don't like it whatever so I ordered I didn't know that that's what heaven was like oh my goodness anybody that asked me where to get Chinese food even my mother I legitly took a bus to Westbrook one day just to get a menu for my mom now I know about 15 people that I have told about China and that's the only place they order from now included me Melissa Cortes.. I keep coming back because it's close to my home and fast. The food is ok, not the best Chinese I've ever had. Solid egg rolls. The sesame chicken is almost all bread, and the chicken pad Thai (not sure why it's on the menu, but hey, I love pad Thai) is very sweet. The staff is very efficient and quick with orders. read more

This place is great for take out but this is my first time dining in and the service is terrible. You walk in and nobody bothers to greet you or say anything to you. Nobody brings you a menu. I finally got up and got a take out menu than after waiting a while longer I asked the lady at the counter if we had to go up there to order and she said yes. So we did, and she was not pleasant at all and than you have to pay before you even get your food. I never ever don't tip but I did not tip. Went last night - not a fan. Although the service was ok and the open kitchen was clean, the food was BLAND. Spicy Orange Beef wasn't spicy at all, just overly sweet, the pork fried rice had very little pork and no flavor, the Crab Rangoon was all Rangoon and no crab. However the worst of all were the egg rolls, no celery, no cabbage, no pork and NO FLAVOR! Come on! How can you screw up an egg roll? On the positive side the wings and the hot and sour soup were ok. We'll check out another place next time for our Chinese fix. read more

My order turned out disgusting and so did my sisters. For a tip... DO NOT ORDER THE CHOW MEIN OR EGG FRIED RICE. The chow mein is simply hot cabbage (and tastes like gravy) and our fried rice had eggshells. You can't skip over eggshells. Ugh. Dear god this chow mein is so gross I don't know what to do with it. Diminished quality and food poisoning. I have eaten at China Villa for more than five years. The food used to be amazing; for a while, I would treat myself to China Villa once a week. Although the food still tastes great (when it isn't overcooked anyway), I've gotten food poisoning twice in the last six months (I've only eaten there 4 times in the last six months). The first time I noticed that the food smelled different, but I couldn't figure out why. After eating a couple bites, I started to feel nauseous and stopped eating; an hour later I was in agonizing pain. I went several months avoiding all Chinese food and then decided to give China Villa a second chance since I've never had an issue before. This time the food was good. And the next time the food was a bit overcooked but good. However, last night, I got a meal and spent the whole night puking. I will never eat at China Villa again; it's sad because they used to be the best. read more

My favorite Chinese food restaurant! Has been my go-to while I'm at school, I'm sad to move home and lose my favorite Chinese food place. Quick delivery, reasonable prices, and the BEST crab Rangoon you'll find. The staff are always so nice and welcoming. This is without a doubt the best Chinese restaurant in the Greater Portland area. After trying several places around town - that are just ok - we finally found our go-to. The Orange Chicken dinner combo is delicious and plentiful. Crunchy bread chicken bites, dripping in flavorful orange sauce! So good! Crab rangoons are great too - although we have contemplated if there is a little less filling, on busy nights - could just be a suspicion. Nonetheless, authentic flavor. The dumplings/Peking ravioli - also very good. We ordered the scallion pancakes once but felt they lacked scallions and weren't all that flavorful. The place is also hopping with takeout orders but our food order is always accurate, consistent and packed very well for travel. Definitely recommend this as the top Chinese takeout in the area - we order a few times a month. read more

We move to Maine 2 years ago and discovered China Villa Chinese food in Westbrook. Without question it was a five-star delicious Chinese restaurant. Six months later something dramatic must've happened in this restaurant because their food absolutely it's disgraceful. No flavor ,they fry the food until it's so hard you can't eat it ,the eggroll is greasy no flavor and the fried rice looks old like it's been sitting around for weeks.. We stopped eating it up until tonight which is Oct 26. My husband and I just wanted a change for something different. We decided to give it another try again thinking maybe it was just us. Well I hate to tell you it was just as bad as before. I don't need dried out oily and greasy food. I would stay so far away from this. We are going to try Thai food!!!!! It has some similarities to Chinese but the flavors are so much better. I wish I could find a place that serves Filipino food because I absolutely love their food it's amazing. Worst experience ever! Was told 45 minutes and waited over an hour. There were at least 15 people waiting for their orders and they had also been waiting well over an hour. The worst part is that they get you to the register, charge you and then you wait even longer! Never again! What a nightmare. I'm not one to write reviews, but feel after my experience I had to. I'm new to the area and after seeing China villa had such good reviews I decided on takeout. The food was almost inedible. The general tso chicken was covered in a dough-like filler to make it seem like more was there than there really was that made it taste bad and have a strange texture. The rice and egg roll were lacking flavor as well. Be careful of random charges, as duck sauce was an extra 75 cents they didn't mention on top of already relatively high prices. I've had a great experience with this restaurant - and a terrible one. When ordering take out the egg rolls were amazing as was egg foo young - Cantonese, oh yes!. But when ordering for delivery the food was terrible. Paper thin chicken with rubbery broccoli - chicken so thinly sliced as to be tough and dry and egg rolls very small and tasteless - not like those I had previously had when ordering take out. Delivery is minimum of 15.00 plus 3.50 delivery charge not including tip . By all means pick up your food and don't have it delivered!! And be prepared to wait, either way!!! read more

The food is alright but not the best I've ever had. The sesame beef was mostly batter and oil with hardly any beef in the center. The egg rolls are tasteless and bland. The beef with vegetables was alright but the vegetables were over cooked and again, the beef wasn't so great. I did like the vegetable soup and the crab Rangoon's were alright but certainly not the best I've ever had. The fried rice is your basic run of the mill fried rice and didn't taste like much. Ordered chicken lo Mein for lunch take out. The crab Rangoon appetizers were mostly just cream cheese and thin long onions with barely any imitation crab meat which was disappointing. The noodles were mushy in texture and had little to no flavor the lo Mein consisted mostly of frozen veggies. Rice also had no flavor literally none. When I picked up the food (they said 20 minutes I arrived there in 10) it was cold. Didn't receive soy sauce duck sauce or hot mustard. Good parking. This was our first and last visit to China Villa in Westbrook Maine. We ordered ahead before leaving home to save time. When we walked in the door I was discouraged to see the pictures on line made the interior look bigger than expected. We smelled cigarette smoke but did not see the one customer smoking leading us to believe one of the staff was smoking in the kitchen. There were 6 girls and a baby standing in the dining room but not eating so the atmosphere was loud and led us to believe they were related to the owner. Our food was hot and ready and in Styrofoam containers like take-out. We asked for plates and dinnerware and the host pointed behind us at a stack of Styrofoam plates and plastic forks and spoons. Ok, maybe the food is better than the impression so far? Not so. The General Tsao chicken was tough and over done. The sauce was as thin as soup and the Pork fried rice was dry and very dark like leftovers. My wife's wonton soup was in a one quart Styrofoam container and no bowls were available. My step-sons orange chicken was also over done but he ate it. When I went up to the counter to reluctantly pay the young man at the register was on his iPhone and oblivious to my presence. When I told him I wanted to pay he ran to the kitchen to get my order having no clue he already saw me eating. We paid $35.45 for the absolute worse Chinese food we've ever had. The only reason im giving it one star is because the bottled water was cold. I will not re-visit the China Villa in Westbrook Maine. read more
