It's typical Savannah Chinese food. I don't know why ppl are giving it 4 to 5 stars. It smells bad inside the restaurant. A combination of uncleanliness and roach spray. Is it possible for food to taste like the area its been in?? Maybe its my imagination. If I had to actually sit there to eat - my food would probably come back up. A practically empty restaurant during 12 o'clock lunch hour is a bad sign. The girl walking out before I went in, had a look of disgust on her face. This place, this American-Chinese restaurant, is the best american Chinese restaurant I have ever visited in my life. Amazing, hot, fresh, Food. Every single dish, is freshly cooked after you place the order. Normally what I will do is calling ahead about 10 minutes, you will then can do a hit-and-run pick up. 2. The wok (the steel stir-frying pan) they used gives the food "the pot aroma", you can tell the food material are being heated up evenly during the stir-frying period. Try their fried rice, you will know what I am talking about. 3. Very Affordable. $5.95 Lunch-special. 5 star quality. It's a steal. 4. Boss is a cool Asian guy, it's a pity we are in some kind of gap between Mandarin and Cantonese, fortunately English has set up the communication channel. Recommendations: BBQ spare-ribs. Monstrous quantity, heavenly taste. Located off king George in what looks to be an abandoned plaza now with only them and another store left. It looks like a food store, like food lion or someone used to be next door. But quick chinese food is decent if it's your only option. Came in and ordered the fried chicken with pork fried rice with a drink, totaled to about close to 8.50. I think that's a tad high for take out chinese food, but it's not like I had many options here in Savannah. If you're around, have a try if you're craving chinese food. Theirs is good tho. Fried Dumplings- actually, I just use these as a way to get the sauce it comes with to my mouth. Shrimp Toast- actually they stopped making this, but I figured I'd put it in here in case they read this... Cuz I want it bacK! House Fried Rice- good consistency and leftovers keep well. It's sticky and that's how I like it. General tso Chicken- it is what is, and they do it well. You can't complain! Chicken and snow peas. My favorite dish there. Don't be deceived into thinking its good for you tho. The sauce it's in is like a sweet soy and it is like crack, so it must be unhealthy. I moved to Savannah in 2013 and to the Georgetown area in 2014. Originally from Saint Louis, where the best fried rice ever is done, I had a hard time finding a Chinese take out restaurant that made rice that was separate and not mushy. The fried rice here is done exactly to my specifications when I tell them to fry it hard :) I Love everything here that they make.. But I do have to ask them to not add sugar to some of the dishes. For some reason Savannah likes to add sugar to everything. To the point that the cook that prepared my dish asked me to taste it before I left because he was so worried I would not like it . But I grew up eating regular Chinese dishes that have no sugar so it tasted perfect for me . So as you can see they are very accommodating.. It's the only place I will order Chinese food from. I can call ahead and it's ready when I get there. I also feel the prices decent and the portions are large. read more

Best Chinese Take-Out we've ever had! It's not world-class cuisine, but it's amazing take-out for sure. Now that we don't live in Savannah anymore, we joke that we'll have to vacation there just to have China Wok again! We first found this place because we lived close in Georgetown, but even after we moved downtown, we kept going back because it was the best we found in Savannah. Now that we no longer live in Georgia, it's still what we compare everything else to. We are sad to say (but to "The Wok's" credit) we've failed to find a better, or even comparable replacement ever since. We never had this problem when we lived close, but when we started having to drive 15 minutes to get there (we always got take-out), the drive home did reduce the "crispiness" of the sauced dishes. Still tasty, but the fresher the better when it comes to the crispy or crunchy foods. Our favorite dishes were: General Tso's Chicken, Crab Rangoons, Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Egg Rolls, Steamed Dumplings, String Beans, Beef Lo Mein, Boneless Spare Ribs... the list could go on, but we never went without getting at least one or two of those things each visit. And I don't think we ever had anything that wasn't at least decent. We also like their sweet & sour sauce - it's thick so it sticks well to stuff, and it's not insanely sweet. read more

Most of us in my family are vegetarians, so the Moo Shu Vegetable is one of our favorites, as is the Vegetable Lo Mein. Everything is always fresh and cooked perfectly. Be sure to order some of their steamed taro buns. Man, they are really good. My hubby enjoys the crab rangoon. No issues with greasiness, unlike many other Chinese restaurants we've visited. My Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese buddies take me to places they deem to be good enough for their discriminating tastes. China Wok is strictly American-Chinese and doesn't come close to comparing to the good Chinese restaurants of Seattle and Vancouver, BC.
