Place has been around longer than I can remember run by a small family. Yes the wait times can be long if you don't call ahead. No you can't order online. Yes sometimes the phones don't get answered. No you can't DoorDash or Uber Eats or Grubhub it. Yes sometimes they'll close early. No there is no indoor seating and nowhere to wait. Yes they're still busy af ALL THE TIME, and for that you should ask yourself why. Maybe it's bc the food is tasty as hell every single time, and the ingredients are fresh bc everything is cooked to order, and price is more than reasonable, and portions are big enough to feed multiple people? The food is pretty delicious but the wait time and inside service sucks. It always takes 45 minutes to get ur food and it always difficult to place an order over the phone. Due to the fact they take the phone off the hook about 6:30 7:00 I need clothes at about 8:30...this is my last time period. Lai wah is delicious...BUT they take to long ..... the phones are always ringing off the hook and there are always at least 3 people inside waiting. I have eaten here 3 times past couple week and the food has been on point! Chicken wings are rather small, but they give you A LOT of rice. read more

I cannot believe there are only a handful of reviews here. Even more, I can't believe they are not all 5's. One negative review says "everything reeked of MSG".... That's just a downright lie. The other negative one say "I'm from New York where everything is so much better"..... Lol. We all know where the rest of that nonsense is going, as we've heard it all from them before as we ask... Then, why are you here? The reality is, the people who own this place could not possibly be nicer. I have been going there for 25 years and will not eat traditional Americanized Chinese food anywhere else in Savannah exactly BECAUSE they don't use a lot of additives like most old school Chinese food places do. And this IS old school Chinese food, but everything is always fresh and wonderful. The sauces are lighter and tastier than other places. The ingredients are fresh. Their products are consistent. One "negative" that is actually true....they take FOREVER.... Lol. She's out front taking orders and he's in back cooking as fast as he possibly can. But they are often slammed. And they stay busy for a reason. Simply call your order in a full 45 minutes before you plan on leaving to go pick it up...pretty simple really. If you expect to call it in and drive over 5 minutes later you will end up being one of those idiots I often see being nasty to that nice lady, whining about how long it's taking. Now, i used to live in NYC for 12 years, so this may seem a little biased. I ordered beef w broccoli, dumplings, and chicken lo-mein. The beef was chewey like gum, and the broccoli had the texture of a paste. The taste was ok, but a little bland. As for the lo-mein, that was good. It was perfectly cooked, and the chicken was flavourful and tasty. The dumplings were ok, but they were stale and had a crunch like a potato chip. Mrs. Lai is very kind, though, and we had a nice conversation. It was ok, but being from NYC, I would not recomend. read more
