I've been going to this Chinese restaurant since it first opened years ago and the quality and service of the food has improved over the years. The owners of the restaurant are nice, friendly, and hardworking who do their very best to satisfy their customers. I, at times, eat there many times repetitively a week/month and they treat me and the other customers very well. Also, the pricing of the food is very good and the portion they give on your plate is always great. The only constructive criticism I have to say about this business is in which they are short staffed at times and they need the extra help to work evening hours so the lines won't be too long of a wait. DONT EAT HERE. Do yourself a favor and just dont. This is an amazingly poor food establishment. Kids working behind the counter because the older adults don't speak English. The kids just hand you stuff and hope there are no comments or requests. They give you large portions, but the food is pretty terrible. I have tossed out full containers because it was just so bad after eating a few pieces. The rice and chow mien are terribly bland and boring and really should be used for packaging material. Good stuff, fast and inexpensive. Last night, I picked up a large order of mussels in black bean sauce, large walnut prawns, Hot Sour soup and a rice bowl of the orange chicken. Take out order. 10 minutes in and out of there. Mussels were awesome, cooked to order (not sitting under heat lamps/steam trays) and smothered in a delightfully salty black bean sauce. I ate a bowl of steam rice with just the sauce---pure hedonism. Small warning: there may be small barnacles in your sauce, hidden in the blackness so proceed with caution. Walnut prawns were pretty good, the breading on them was light but had no crispness to it. A little softened by the mayo like sauce that lightly covers them. Note, the large container was half filled with a bed of lettuce but there was still a great deal of shrimp in there for under $10, Hot sour soup was good stuff too. Lots of tofu, julienned mushroom and bamboo shoot up in the mix. A large was about $4 and was enough for about 5 people. Orange chicken was typical orange chicken. The kids like that shit. Same as you would expect from a panda express or similar restaurant. $28.00 got us a decent dinner last night and enough left overs for breakfast and probably lunch the following day...good food. good value. read more

This place is GREAT. I tried the orange chicken, kung pao chicken, mongolian beef, shrimp, fried rice and chow mein. Everything was good, expecially the mongolian beef - yummmm. Like everyone else says- the portions are HUGE! - I was watching them make some trays for the people in front of me, so I got wise to the fact that I only need to order 2 dinner plates for 4 people. I ordered a party tray of food. I found out that they have huge trays which you can order for events. I called last minute and they made it for me right away. When I arrived they were finishing cooking it. I'm really glad that they made everything fresh. They were super nice and accommodating. The prices are really reasonable as well. read more

Probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. We ordered take out and all but the eggrolls got thrown away. It was dried out and bland.

Boyfriend and I wanted to have Chinese food for lunch and were in search of something new. We came across China Wok and decided to try it out. It's located next to the UPS store and has very limited space for sitting down. I was a bit sad when I found out it was more American than Chinese but was too lazy to try somewhere else. The employees were nice and the place was clean. We ordered Mongolian beef and orange chicken with chow mein and some war wonton soup. The mongolian beef was alright. My boyfriend liked it a lot, so it gets kudos. The orange chicken was good. Not too much bread and crispy. You actually get to see them bread and fry them by hand, which is great! The war wonton soup was delicious. I would prefer some shitake mushrooms instead of button mushrooms but that's my only complaint. The wontons themselves were amazing. I'm very picky about wontons because they are always hit and miss. This place's wontons were a hit! The chow mein was kind of bland. Well, more than bland. It needed something but I couldn't put my finger on it. Overall, I'd go again for the Wonton soup. read more

I had a craving for Chinese food last night, so I decided to try this place, since it's so close to my house.. It's a quaint little eatery, all the food is precooked and out on display ready for your picking.. We were helped by a man ( assuming he's the manager/owner) & a young lady ( I think his daughter) both were very friendly, we did feel a little rushed in ordering, but this being our first time here, I didn't really know what they had and didn't care if I was taking too long. There was no one else inside anyway.. And they were close to closing time. However they did let my bf sample their BBQ pork ribs when he asked. All of the food looked like it had been sitting out all day.. As soon as we stepped up to order & looked at the food, they immediately. Began stirring and mixing the dishes so they looked presentable. Even so, All the veggie dishes looked extremely dried out and unappetizing.. I ordered nothing with too much veggies because of this.. Like broccoli literally looked like mini wilted trees. We each ordered a "super combo". I got chow mein, mushroom chicken & orange chicken. My bf got 1/2 chow mein & rice, Mongolian beef and sweet & sour chicken. Chow mein was ok.. We both definitely needed some soy sauce on it ( which they did not provide, thank god we had some at home). Best part of my mushroom chicken was the mushrooms & zucchini..I didn't care much for the flavor of the chicken or sauce. The orange chicken was not very good.. Hardly any flavor. My bf said the best part of the Mongolian beef was the grilled/sautéed onions.. Lol. The breaded chicken was not very tasty, the sweet and sour sauce had a weird smell to it, almost like it has been fermenting (like alcohol) so I put it back down before I tried it. Long story short, I had maybe 5 bites of food before I begrudgingly threw into the trash. ((I am so not a waster because I'm aware of the millions out there starving and praying for a warm meal, but even then, I probably wouldn't give this to the hobo on the street.)) 10/10 for location/convenience 7/10 for service 5/10 for price ( would've been at least an 8 if the food tasted good ) 0/10 for food quality & 10/10 if their goal was to give us both upset (&empty!) stomachs til the next day. read more

I've ordered take out from here about 6-7 times for the family and finally decided to write a review. In the past, they had great customer service. The guy who used to answer the phone was really accommodating. I wanted eggplant with garlic sauce (which is not unusual on a standard Chinese menu), but he told me that they don't make that. I told him I was craving it and that the other Chinese place in Tracy was sold out of it. He offered to go next door to the grocery store and buy the eggplant and make it fresh just for me. Only catch was I had to buy a whole order of it, not just part of a combo plate, which is only fair. After a couple visits, a rude lady (who had a really hard time communicating with me) started to answer the phone. She acted as if she was doing me a favor by being there and always rushed me to order quickly or call back later. 1 time she shortchanged me (thinking she can pull a fast one on me), but I caught her, and she denied it. So of course I had to prove her wrong and after doing so, I put my rightful change into the tip jar and said "next time you want a dime so badly, just ask, don't try to trick me" and walked out. I decided to give them another chance tonight when we had family over. After placing a huge order over the phone at 6 pm, helping them get all the day old food off their hands, I asked for 10 paper plates and enough fortune cookies and soy sauce. 1st she said they don't 'serve' paper plates, then she said She'll give me 4 or 5 free, but then I have to pay for each additional one. When I got the food home, there was only 3 fortune cookies, 3 soy sauce packets, and 1 side of hot sauce included in the big box for an order that has at least 10 servings. What happened to the friendly guy? This lady won't even consider any special requests from their loyal customers. Other then that deal breaker (bad customer service), the food is ok. They only have vegetable chow mien though, but it's not a big deal. The egg flower soup is simple but pretty good. The steamed rice is too al dente for my taste. One good thing is that the portion sizes are a little bigger than other places. You can easily feed 2 adults with the 3 entree + 1 side combo ($6.99). -1 star for ill-mannered lady in front -1 star 'cause they don't deliver read more

I have been seeing CHINA WOK everytime I drive by savemart on shulte, so I finally stopped and gave it a try. I will never go back, NUMBER ONE reason bad customer service. the lady behind the counter was EXTREMELY RUDE, my son wanted half chow mein and half fried rice and the lady seemed bothered by it. then i wanted hot chili sauce and she gave me empty container, didn't even bother to tell me hot sauce was on table. and the DEAL BREAKER was i asked her if i had soy sauce in my bag, and she said NO YOU NEED TO ASK ME!!! wdf!! does she not want to make sure customer's leave happy so they can return to her business. food was not that great anyways looked like it had been just sitting there. but i was nice and tried it anyways. Needed something quick since I had a car full of groceries and the hot blazing Tracy sun wasn't going to be kind. I've always seen the place very busy so I thought why not? Bad idea......got home and opened my box which didn't look appealing at all. Decided to put it all on a plate so it wouldn't be a huge mess of piled high Chinese food! Started sorting out questionable pieces which basically left me with less than half. Started to eat and that feeling you get when you know if you keep eating the bathroom will be your bf for the night. The ribs were seriously questionable. This is a place has some decent, vegan-friendly chinese food. Some days afterschool, I stop here with my friends to get something to eat before we hang out. Usually I'll get some chow mein (it's cooked without using animal broth which is a plus) and some tofu and vegetables (only available upon request, they're quite good). Every time I've gone here I've enjoyed the heaping amounts of noodles served in a two entree plate and the saucy tofu and vegetables (you get a LOT of food for a relatively low price), however I noticed after every meal I felt extremely tired and I got a headache that lasted for a couple hours. After calling the owners, I found out that they use MSG in their cooking, which explains the tiredness I felt. In summary, you can get a bunch of decent chinese food for little money, the service is very good, however if you're wary of or have an allergy to MSG, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

Hi, I'm an regular for this restaurant and I usually see some girls that work here with regular service. BUT!! This older woman was VERY RUDE to me, she tried to trick me for giving the wrong change!!! The food was okay when she was there. Service from her? ZERO!!! My family really loves the food here, so I decided to give it another chance. This time a young man was serving me. He was really nice and always let me know which of the foods were coming out fresh!!! His communication skills are FAR MORE BETTER than the other employees in this restaurant. AMAZING, this will always be my number 1 go to place for chinese food, I mean come on, the portion is the best part about the place, for the lowest prices in town, they're such nice people, the food taste great, It could maybe be a little warmer, everytime I go to get vegetables with tofu it's ran out & a little old looking, they always make it for me fresh without me having to ask for a fresh batch, the sauce on the vegetables and tofu is so good that I usually try to dip my noodles in it, overall great place, good food, good customer service & good prices. read more

We had not ordered from this place in quite a while but had lots of kids at home to feed and thought we would give it a try. Their fried rice and chow mein have virtually no vegetables and look nothing like the menu pics. We did order a fish dish which we did not get. We had a large order. When I called the restaurant to complain the woman on the phone fixated on how many cartons I received. I told her we did not get the correct order. She would not admit they made an error. I finally had to tell her to stop talking and asked if they would make us the dish we ordered. She would not answer so I hung up. My husband was out shopping so I told him to stop by and see if he could resolve the order on his way home. The woman did not believe him and demanded us to send a picture of our food. WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! EVER!!!! I called and the young female that answered the phone was just plain RUDE. I was spending a lot of money and I wanted to be assured of prices of the food. She was curt and kept cutting me off. I don't understand how you can run a business and have someone so rude represent your business. I didn't want to order after being treated so rudely, but the food is such a good price I ordered anyway. I asked her to guarantee me prices...which she did. I even asked her to give me an estimate of the size of the food trays to ensure my order was correct, and she said ,"I don't have a ruler". GREAT business practice to say that to a customer. BUT, she still guaranteed me the price. When the food was picked up, it was the wrong size trays that the girl PROMISED me it would be.Spoke to the owner and he would not right THEIR wrong. Not even an apology. Regardless of if he couldn't give me what I requested, he could have made it right another way. I was really upset. Instead of trying to ease an upset customer, he HUNG UP on me and took the phone off the hook so I could not call back. What kind of business practice is this?!!? BAD BUSINESS!! I am a really mellow person, and I don't think I would have been as upset if the girl that took my order wasn't SO incredibly rude, but that just added fuel to the fire. I love this place ,they always have the best rice best chow mein ,but my favorite there is the fish , it's like no other , my whole family goes there , even all my friends go because the food there is so good .. If I moved to another state or country ,I would book a ticket just to Come back to this place , not only is there food good but the customer service there is excellent , they show a lot of love and are very generous , if this place was no longer here idk if I would eat Chinese food anymore ... Ok kids were hungry - I worked late & decided to stop here on the way home.
