We just moved to Tracy and were looking for a new good Chinese food restaurant. I can say for certain this place is not it. Their fried rice had zero flavor and was literally just white rice with some onion, peas and carrots in it. It was gross. I also got the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken literally had no sauce on it. Usually Chinese food restaurants smother their food in sauce but this place, it was no where to be found. I could pick up pieces of chicken and not even get sauce on my hands. No sauce means the chicken was very bland and again, gross! We will not be going back here. read more

This is a great place that I highly recommend. This was my go-to Chinese food place when I first moved to Tracy. It was great for a few years but then one day my family and I noticed it was lacking in flavor - unusual for this place. Then it happened again and again until I noticed it was now their new normal way for their food to taste. I stopped going their for a long time. Then one day I happened to be hungry and in the area so I tried it again. It was great! So I tried it again, it was great. And again it was great and again, until their old normal again became their new normal again. I'm not sure if they needed to cut costs or what but I do know this, in cutting costs they lost me as a customer and I''m sure they lost others as well. Great tasting food, even if it costs more will always bring in new customer and keep the old. It's just not worth it if you're going to lose all your customers. I'm so glad they are back to the awesome quality food I found when I first moved here. Also, it's the same husband and wife owners - I think. But I know I never see anyone else, it's just them two, day in and day out - constantly working never taking a day, a half a day, an hour, a minute to themselves. If they're reading this, hey, take a vacation. You guys need one - seriously. No one should work so hard. read more

This is my forever go to! I love everything this place has. My favs: the hot soup, fish, chow mein, egg rolls, shrimp, my husband: anything chicken. Brother: anything from there. To be honest, the only excuse I have for coming here is that I sometimes come down with a case of the lazy American every now and then. The food here is acceptable. The service is generally sub par. The managers rush you if you don't just select what they have readily available. If you ask a question, it's apparent it's a hassle. Every time I come here I leave wondering why I keep coming back. There's nothing much to say about this place except that its a mom n pop version of Panda express, pretty much the same concept except that the location looks a bit more dingy the food quality a bit downgraded, quantity a bit upgraded and price like 50 cents less. If panda express sounds a bit too boring and portions little smaller then this place provides that "Bang for the buck" experience. Difference is they don't try to charge you extra for fish fry, been here couple of times but could never finish the portions provided not coz it was huge but the food lacks a basic edible taste, it has weird chewy rubbery feel to it after a few bites. Still not a bad place to grab a quick lunch with affordable price. Service is OK my personal rating would be a solid 2.5 stars. read more

update to my review about a year ago! i live in modesto and when i am in town to visit my mom this is my go-to chinese place..well recently i went in here and couple times the lady has been rude and gotten my order wrong. every time i told her she made a mistake she says oh i've worked here forever. i never made a single mistake. maybe you weren't speaking loud enough. uhmm no. first of all customers are always right. second of all..i wasn't even being rude so idk why she was. third all she had to do is replace my untouched food with the correct item and move along. well let's just say you lost a customer. and take my business elsewhere. ps. i don't think you should be yelling at a little girl for wanting to be nice and replace my food while all you do is argue with me. you're lucky i don't call people for child labor laws because i swear your daughter is like 12. =) read more

How is this place getting four stars? Sure, its cheap, but in this case you really are getting what you paid for. In my case it was mushroom gristle...I mean chicken and some chow mien noodles. Sure, there as a half ton of it, but if its largely gristle, who cares? Gross. People seem to love this place, so may I was just there on an off day, but given the amount of my meal that was inedible, I will take my business elsewhere. (despite my poor experience with their food, I do want to acknowledge that China Wok appears to be one of the few places to pick up Chinese food in Tracy on a Monday...and thats got to be worth something. ) read more

I've tried the food at China Wok several times. I really want to like it, especially since it is so convenient to my house. But to be perfectly honest, the food just isn't that good. The breaded chicken for the sweet & sour is gummy and kind of flavorless. The mushroom chicken and BBQ pork are bot fine flavor-wise, but they are also super greasy. They get a star for being very fast (it's all on a steam table after all) and a star for being affordable. If I could award a half star, they would get one for being friendly. The staff is usually nice. You do get a better product if you order something that needs to be cooked, but if I'm going to do that, I have another place I prefer to go. I just can't recommend going here. Convenient or not, there are much better options in town. read more

Being Chinese, I am extremely critical of Chinese food outside of any 'Chinatown' in the area partly because these people who own these Chinese restaurants are Chinese themselves!!! But why, might you ask, is that these Chinese restaurant owners make their Chinese food taste so....bland? It is because they are there to cater to non-Chinese folks in the area!!! By far, this is the most disheartening of all of the Chinese restaurants in Patterson. I don't understand how some of these people rate them 4 stars and up...oh yes, they don't know Chinese food. But even then, Chinese food knowledge aside, it doesn't take a brainiac to notice that the food is NEVER fresh there. The noodles are soggy, food is salty, and its just "never right" in there. While the owner is a very nice person, niceness does not make up for the lack of taste in food. Look at my other reviews for an alternative Chinese restaurant to eat at. Until then, I'll save my money for the McDonald's located in the same shopping complex. read more

This place is pretty gross. I only eat it when I'm lazy and don't feel like going far; I live pretty close. I mean, it's edible but not really appealing. Not good. Chow mein noodles weren't flavorful and they were mushy. Egg rolls inside were mushy. Mongolian beef was mushy. Same problem with everything, lacking flavor and mushy. Couldnt even finish, had to throw away. You really do get what you pay for here, sad to say! read more

This place has really awesome food. Even though the prices are decent, every time we go there we spend a fortune because everything is so good that we can't decide what we want, so we have to get everything. They amazing BBQ pork (Chinese style, of course), Beef & Broccoli, Sweet and sour (they give you a choice whether to have the sauce on the side or not) and Orange Chicken. And I have to order my favorite Wor Won Ton Soup every time. And their chow mien noodles are nice and thick and their rice is great too. Thees are our regulars, but I've tried a lot of their other stuff too and it's great.
