After having such a great experience at the Stockton location earlier this week, I decided to check out M Kitchen's newly opened Manteca location. Whenever I visit a restaurant with multiple locations, one of the biggest things I look for is consistency, and I'm happy to say they absolutely delivered. The food was every bit as good as I remembered. This time I tried the sesame chicken, and it instantly became one of my favorites. The chow mein, barbecue chicken, orange chicken, and fried fish were just as flavorful as they were at the original location. After eating at both restaurants, it's clear they take pride in maintaining the same quality and flavors across both kitchens. What impressed me even more than the food was the customer service. When I arrived, there were only a few pieces of fried fish left. The food still looked fresh, but I asked if it would be possible to wait for a fresh batch because I wanted it nice and hot. Without hesitation, they smiled and told me it would only be a few minutes. It ended up taking around five minutes, and they happily made a fresh batch without making me feel like I was inconveniencing them. That kind of hospitality is becoming harder to find, and it really stood out to me. I also had the chance to meet one of owners, who shared a little about the journey of opening this second location. It was nice hearing the story behind the business and seeing the passion they have for serving the community. This location is currently takeout only because it's a smaller space. Personally, I wish there were seating because the food is absolutely worth enjoying fresh inside the restaurant. The owner mentioned they hope to eventually expand into a larger location with dine-in seating, and I genuinely hope they're able to make that happen. Where M Kitchen really stands out is the value. It's becoming harder and harder to find restaurants that offer generous portions at reasonable prices, but this place does exactly that. Every combo I saw was packed to the brim with food. You don't leave wondering if you got your money's worth. You leave feeling like you received more than what you paid for. The combination of quality, generous portions, and affordable prices is what really sets M Kitchen apart. They're also currently running a promotion through July 15 where every combo comes with a free drink, which was a nice surprise for my wife and me. After visiting both locations, what impressed me most wasn't just the food. It was the consistency. The quality, flavors, generous portions, value, and friendly customer service have all remained the same. That's not easy to accomplish, especially for a growing family-owned business. M Kitchen has officially become my go-to spot for Chinese food in both Manteca and Stockton. It isn't trying to be a luxury restaurant, and that's okay. It focuses on doing the fundamentals exceptionally well by serving fresh, flavorful food with generous portions, fair prices, and genuinely welcoming service. If you're looking for quality Chinese food that delivers great value, I highly recommend giving M Kitchen a try.

My wife and I have gotten food here several times. The portions are quite large and the food is pretty good. The price is hard to beat. The food is in trays and they brought food out a couple times while we have been there. Highly recommend it.

Found this spot randomly looking for something to try new since we were in town doing some back to school shopping. Me and the kiddos got ourselves some combos also grabbed some egg rolls vegetarian. This place is TO GO ONLY which I think if it was sit down all you can eat would be perfect. They do have a lot of options of food and different combo types to choose from. Very friendly and very helpful. Honestly the food taste wise was nothing special I for sure did not like the chow mein noodles they tasted overcooked not much flavor I really like the sweet and sour pork and the Mongolian chicken was good too this place was good for the price but not something I would come back to get again.

I'll comment on the taste in a bit but I want to first highlight something I've never experienced. In all my work-from-home years I've never once had to-go experience where the dishes looked like they'd been plated for table service at the restaurant. Sure some stuff shifted in the Dasher's car but it honestly blew me away. Even the drink was carefully wrapped and put in a little box to ensure it wouldn't leak everywhere. As for the important bit, the taste, man... I have had so many amazing Thai meals at places in the bay area and honestly just assumed the most Modesto would get is some great Banh Mi spots. Obviously I haven't had the chance to try the whole menu but my go-to, Tom Kha, this is the best Thai coconut soup I've ever had! The Pad Thai is as good if not better than what I've had in San Francisco as well. I'm really looking forward to bringing friends and family here to check it out in person! Side note... yes, it's also very expensive ordering via Doordash with their added fees but it's 2026 and it's California. So far my multiple orders have been well worth the price and I expect the same experience in person! (just, you know, without the extra Doordash fee nonsense)

My wife and I stopped in after our jog along the Tidewater Biketrail, making this our lunch pit stop after starting at Lathrop Road. The Char Siu Pork Bánh Mì is an easy 5/5. The baguette was fresh, crispy on the outside, and soft and chewy inside. The char siu pork was tender, juicy, and perfectly caramelized around the edges. Crisp pickled carrots and daikon, plenty of cilantro, and fresh jalapeños brought everything together. It's a well-balanced sandwich with a portion that's just right. The Grilled Chicken Roll'd deserves more attention. The grilled chicken reminded me of a flavorful chicken satay, and the peanut sauce complemented every bite without overpowering the fresh ingredients. If you're looking for a lighter, protein-packed option, this is it. They also offered complimentary strawberry and passion fruit refreshers. They were a little sweeter than my preference, but the flavors were refreshing. Next time, I'd order one at 50% sweetness. The restaurant is clean, inviting, and a welcome escape from the Central Valley heat. Service has always been friendly, and it's the kind of place where both the staff and regulars make you feel welcome. There's also a Tracy location, but I find myself coming back to the Manteca restaurant. It's smaller, more intimate, and has a charm all its own. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. Great food, great people, and a relaxed atmosphere. I always say, good food brings out the best in people. They were served with more of a hoisin-style sauce instead of the typical peanut sauce. A little different, but still had good flavor overall. My dad ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was much bigger than what you usually get at other places. He said it was really good and definitely filling. ($6.95) I ordered the mild beef stew pho. It wasn't quite what I'm used to--the meat wasn't the typical stew cut and had more fat and gristle, with only a few pieces of beef. It wasn't my favorite, but the broth itself had good flavor. It also came with rice noodles, carrots, and even a couple pieces of lettuce, which was a bit different. Looking around, other dishes coming out looked really good. I'd definitely come back to try one of their sandwiches next time. Service was quick approx 30 seats. The ambiance was casual and welcoming clean, relaxed, and a comfortable spot to sit down and enjoy a meal. Nothing fancy, but it had a nice local feel.

Food was so much better this time around than the last time I had been there. They really must've had a bad night when I had gone previously. Small restaurant in the of a little strip mall off of Main Street. They serve classic Chinese American food and unlike most places in the Bay Area that are family style dishes preferably on a Lazy Susan during dinner time. They offer rice plates, or combo plates for individuals, similar to lunch specials. I selected several dishes and asked the server which was the most popular amongst the dishes I chose, and she let me know the salt and pepper fish, which I got with chow mein. We also ordered shrimp & broccoli, and sweet-and-sour pork. Everything appeared made to order and looked very fresh. From grandma to the babes everyone was happy with their food. Mine was more on the plain Jane with just fried fish, luckily it came with sliced jalapeños to give it a kick. Next time I'll order a spicy eggplant dish. This is a good place to go to if you're with a group of picky eaters. Price is very reasonable, especially for dinner.

7/5 /25 Update 3/5 This has been a long time coming…read moreunfortunately. Ever since the previous owners sold the place the quality has dropped significantly. Consistency has been a major issue not only with food but with policy. When they first took over I'm sure there were some learning curves and maybe tweaks to the recipes. I wanted to give them a fair shot to get things right. Not sure if the old cooks stayed or if they got new ones? Did the new owners have the recipes changed? Did they change suppliers of ingredients, etc, I just don't know. What I can tell you though is that at least some of the dishes are different and are off from what I remember. The general Tao sauce I thought tasted different but necessarily bad. But combine that with a definite lack of crisp/crunch with the fried items and that's gonna be a problem for me. This time around, I only got the general tao beef because unlike my previous visit, they did not allow me to order the general tao beef in the combo plate as in upcharge (just last week or the week before it was allowed). I've been multiple times since the change in ownership. Partly because of the convenience of the location and partly because of the hope that whatever meal I eat at any given time will at least satisfy my fix for their type of Chinese American food. Unfortunately, the fried items I loved so much like orange chicken, sweet and sour pork and general tao beef alike are all severely lacking the crunch from the fry. As of late I've been getting the General Tao Beef to track consistency and it's been consistently under cooked in terms of the batter. The beef itself has been rubbery and to the point where I can't even break apart a piece and end up having to eat it whole lots of times. The other problem is that the pieces are large inconsistently cut (sometimes with, sometimes against the grain) strips making for a difficult chew. And because of the lack of crunch the fried battered outside just falls apart when you bite or try to cut it apart. The last two visits, but especially this one considering I ordered extra crunchy, were severely undercooked and soggy. it was to the point this time where I basically had to scrape off the majority of the batter and just eat the rubbery beef inside. It really does bring me pain to drastically drop the rating of a place that I once loved. I hope one day they can make the fixes so that I can continue to enjoy their food once again. I gave them a 3/5 but honestly, it probably should have been 2/5. I think the chicken with hot garlic sauce might be just good enough to keep it at 3/5 even though the last three times I ordered it. It was inconsistently hot (with cold spots) temperature wise.
