Our party of eight arrived Kalispell for our week-long trip. By the time we got in, everyone was tired and so we decided to place an order for delivery. Chinatown Restaurant actually exceeded our expectations. We ordered a soup and various dishes (veggies, beef, chicken, and a fried rice). While nothing is blow-your-socks-away good, they were all pretty flavorful. The beef was really tender as well. The restaurant ambiance was actually very pretty. They had classic Chinese decor and beautiful paintings and wallpaper. The staff was OK. Seemed mildly annoyed when we walked in. The food was terrible. We loved the egg drop soup and fried rice. We also got the lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork. It was the most bland Chinese food I've ever had. Barely any flavor at all. This was the perfect place to satisfy our Chinese food cravings after a long day at Glacier National Park. We liked the food so much we came twice! They have a great variety of vegetarian options. Each dish we got was well flavored with a large portion size. We tried a variety of tofu dishes, the hot and sour soup, and veggie fried rice. We had enough to take some for leftovers the next day. First impression walking in was good. It looked clean and we were seated right away. We ordered 2 lunch specials, Kung Pao 3 ways and Mongolian Beef, also ordered potstickers. Our pot stickers arrived and they were not what we expected, but they tasted good. (they were deep fried) Our waitress arrived with one plate of food. The Kung Pao, set it in front of me and walked away, didn't say a thing. After about five or six minutes she returns carrying a plate for my wife. Sets it down in front of her. saying "here's your Mongolian Chicken sorry about the wait, but they made Mongolian Beef the first time so I had them remake it." My wife and I look at each other in disbelief. My wife tells the server "But I ordered Mongolian Beef!" Waitress responds "No you didn't, you ordered chicken!" I, (dumbfounded at this point) tell the server "I heard her order Mongolian Beef" The server replies, "No she didn't she ordered the chicken" Then she walks away. The Mongolian chicken was rubbery and had a weird taste to it. So we split my Kung Pao and ate the fried rice from our plates and the crab wontons. Eventually the server shows up with a to go box and our check, Doesn't say a word about about the whole plate of uneaten chicken. The bill was $34.90 so I left $35.00 on the tray and we walked out. If the server is a tall and large white woman, save yourself the aggravation and eat some place else. Worst customer service ever. read more

Decent American Chinese food. We came at 11am and even though we were the first to arrive, the restaurant started filling up not long after. The lunch specials are around 9.50+. I tried the fried pepper chicken with fried rice - though not the best American Chinese food i had, it was decent, especially the portion of protein was pretty big. Since there isn't a lot of Chinese restaurants in Kalispell, I would definitely be back to try the other dishes !! read more

The food was okay, nothing crazy good or bad about it. Portions were good; but it's overpriced for what you get.

There are lot of different parts of china so there are as many styles as there are dialects. The style of chinese food they serve is authentic and very tasty, not your typical "western pallet chinese food". The food comes out VERY hot as it is freshly cooked so everything comes out steaming and piping hot. The cook isnt missing a beat. Everything is priced well, portions are generous. Moderately to dimly lit with a warm and welcoming feel. The whole order comes out in as much time as it takes me to fry some eggs at home. read more

For a tiny town in northwestern Montana this is good Chinese food. So if you are traveled or live in a city with a large Chinese presence, don't expect it to compare. But compared to some of the other Asian places we've tried in the Flathead Valley. This is one of the best options. read more

This resturaunt has earned five stars due to many great visits! The food is great! The hot and sour soup is always lovely, and if you're sharing with somebody I reccomend the Egg Foo Young--tons of delicious egg and meat, easily enough for lunch for two people. If you're not sharing/eating family-style, check out the combo meals and lunch specials. Mongolian Beef is another item I recall being amazing! While most of the items we have sampled on the vast menu have been great, here's a heads up on a few that weren't my favorite: the Moo Goo Gai Pan (I think I spelled that right?) isn't super flavorful, but I don't think it's supposed to be--I just ordered it once without knowing it's a dish with less sauce. Still good, maybe something to order if somebody doesn't want a ton of flavor. Similarly, the Mu Shu Pork was not quite what I expected, and came with tortillas to use as wraps if I recall correctly--that was years ago. This resturaunt is a real winner in terms of ambiance--because it's QUIET. Soft, instrumental music playing--violin/piano covers of pop songs, or traditional sounding asian music. Nobody talks loudly, and the atmosphere is calm. It might be one of the quietest resturaunts I've been to. The lighting is lovely too. Finally, on top of all the other amazing things, the service is usually incredibly fast. Highly recommend this great little spot. read more

Frankly speaking, the Chinese food here is not in the high standard (across the states) However, it should be a good place to go in Kalispell if you want to try some Chinese flavors. Glad to see more restaurants offering dine in as establishments are opening up during COVID19 phases. Although we're not from Montana- Chinatown definitely took care of our Chinese food fix. With so many options- and not being able to choose if I wanted a chicken only, a beef only, or pork only dish- you can't go wrong with a Three Delights dish. Although I ordered Kung Pao- it wasn't even spicy at all. But, my luncheon plate (that comes with either fried/ white rice and egg drop/ hot & sour soup)- had me taking some leftovers home. The hot & sour soup had some fresh mushroom chunks inside- and mushrooms are a deal breaker for me. I need to know that they're fresh and not canned. The egg roll is a real good size for $1. I've lived all across this country and internationally but believe Chinatown Restaurant creates authentic Chinese dishes is my favorite. The dishes are perfectly delicious and elegant. The ingredients were clearly fresh. Each bite was heavenly. We ordered an enormous spread and the kitchen timed each dish's arrival perfectly. I recommend ordering the pork with steamed buns as an appetizer...all of the main dishes were perfect... and fried sesame balls for dessert with a pot of tea. The ambience is comfortable and clean. You forget that you're in kalispell, Montana. You actually forget where you are altogether. It seems that you're possibly in an alternative universe, a sacred space JUST for the purpose of enjoying the meal to come. **i would be remiss if I didn't let you know I was able to eat a delectable mean despite my gluten intolerance. I generally order Chicken Lo Mein anywhere new I go. I feel like it is the best representation of good Asian Cuisine. This was the worst I have ever had, it was basically spaghetti with soggy greasy eggs in it. The general Taos chicken was tasty, however I can not see myself repeating a visit to this place. Pretty solid Americanized Chinese place. It's clean, the food is served fresh and hot. I hadn't tried their bbq pork yet, and since it was made on site, I wanted to try it. Unfortunately I can't recommend it. I don't know if it was normal, but mine was very vinegar-y tasting and to be honest, that grossed me out. The food is marginal at best. I had mu shu pork and My wife had almond chicken and we opted for fried rice rather than steamed. The fried rice was actually steamed rice with little coloring and some vegetables in it. Not nearly close to fried rice that I'm accustomed to. The mu shu pork was ok. The hoinsen sauce made it much better. The pancakes they serve with the mu shu pork were very good, not homemade but good. The almond chicken was OK. The mushrooms they put in both the dishes were undercooked and large and not worth eating. Service was good and the waitress was very nice and accommodating. It's a small little restaurant, a little older. We were seated quickly and served promptly. The food was very tasty, although I wish the dishes came with more or at least some vegetables, instead of just rice and the main course for the most part. Husband had sweet-and-sour shrimp, lots of shrimp, and it was very good. Very tasty. I had the garlic shrimp and it too was very tasty, AND it had vegetables also which we both enjoyed. I really enjoyed my experience here. I wasn't expecting a good experience with Chinese food in Kalispell Montana. And when I read the menu and saw they use spaghetti noodles for their Lo Mein, I became really concerned. I told the young lady (possibly the owners daughter) that as an obnoxious spoiled Seattleite I could not, in good conscious, order Chinese food made with spaghetti noodles. So I ended up ordering the "rice noodles" dish that was made with rice noodle vermicelli. To my surprise, it was really good and I was happy that I rolled the dice on Chinese food in Kalispell. Our soup came out somehow 30 seconds after we ordered it, directly followed be crab wontons (both fabulous). Main course with fried rice perfectly on time as the wontons were devoured. We were shocked to see the unprofessional manner of the staff here. Food was below average. On top of that while ordering the waiter informed us that we get three free soup because we ordered 3 entrees, when paying I noticed they charge around $10 for all three soup and was shocked!
