Large portions!! I recommend the Pork Lo Mien noodle dish. The dinner combo #2 was just okay since the almond chicken dish was loaded with celery that it overpowered the flavor and it was all I could taste. Friendly service and beautiful scenery to enjoy your meal. read more

Can't give more than 3 stars. We ordered orange chicken and there was gobs of breading and consequently, little flavor.

The worst. Won Ton soup was inedible, barbq pork dry and ribs were missing. Can't recommend.

Don't recommend. I love Chinese food and I know I'm in small-town​ Montana but everything about this is wrong. The atmosphere? You feel like you're bothering the folks that work there. The food? We didn't even get to try the food because our first impression was crap. There's a bar downstairs so the whole place smells like an ashtray and you can almost feel a sticky layer of cigarette smoke on everything. We showed up around 3:30pm, so between the lunch and dinner peak, but it took nearly 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge that we were standing at the hostess counter. Came here with my mom. There was about 6 tables when we arrived. We ordered minutes after arriving.... Waited 45 minutes for our food... tables that got there 30 minutes after us were getting their food and tables were leaving that arrived when we did. We walked out and will never return. Tasty Americanized chinese food. Stick with the lomein, ginger beef, almond chicken, garlic chicken, generals chicken. I suggest asking to sitrfry some veggies into the fried foods like s+s pork. Don't order the chowmein unless you love cabbage. The mushu pork is good with wraps. Crab ragoons are cream cheese goodness. Service is friendly, prices are on par with the area and the servings are large. Mix all the buffet items together for a yummy smorgasborg (noodles, rice, s+s. Chicken/veggies)! read more

We love Chinese food but China's Gate's food was inedible. Great staff but one dish too hot to eat and other was tough pork. Fried rice tasted like metal from the wok. No one asked how our meal was so we paid and left the uneaten meals. Crab Rangoon and hot tea were good though. Meals looked good but flavors were all wrong. read more

I ate here several years ago and will never go back. It's as if everything comes from a mix. I do like Chinese food but this is not it. If you ever go to Missoula, I highly recommend China Garden just off Brooks in the strip mall behind Holiday Village. read more

Absolutely the worst. Should not even get one star Nobody eat there! I took a bite of a rotten egg roll. The meat inside had went bad. I mean really bad. So my mother called them to let know. We don't care about the money. We just felt like they should know. The lady that answer was instantly rude, her name is Kirsten. She proceeded to tell my mother that she was not going to give her money back and if she got sick she better have a doctor's note. I paid almost $50 for 3 plates of food. 2 fried rice and 1 lomein. I thought, it better be worth it... it was not. My rice was not good at all. I come from a big city with a large Chinese population so i guess im used to better tasting Chinese food. The price was not worth the food. read more

OMG! The food at this place is so gross. This is the 3rd time we've been there, each year on vacation. 3 strikes, you're out! My husband and I were very disappointed. The chicken and sweet and sour pork was so over cooked it was too hard to eat. The food waitress was rude, but, the bartender downstairs was really nice. It's a very well ran place. Food portions are HUGE which is great. Customer service could be semi questionable sometimes but always turns out nice and respectful no matter the circumstances. Bit of a limited menu but it's hard to get tired of it. They take the necessary precautions for COVID which I appreciate. Overall nice place. read more

Good luck with this place. I've had a 50/50 with this establishment. The first meal there was average. The second...EASILY the WORST sweet and sour sauce I've EVER had for my sweet & sour pork (my favorite) and the pork was fatty too...Someone screwed up. Not sure how this place got such bad reviews! It's been solid every time I vacation here in the summers. Expect "American Chinese" food. The crab rangoons are delicious! My favorite dishes are 1. Ginger beef 2. Garlic chicken 3. Almond chicken 4. All of the lo mein- my favorite is pork Portion sizes are huge- definitely enough to bring home a doggy bag I believe it is family owned, so it's nice supporting a local business as well! read more

Wow... Where do I start? Nice surroundings, friendly front of house, good views, but... the food did not live up to any level of expectations. I got food to go, and the bottom of the paper bag was soaked with grease by the time I got back (5 minutes). I've never seen egg foo young that was day-glow orange in color! American cheese? The pork in the egg foo young was the BBQ pork you buy at Safeway, not pork that was stir-fried and added to a delicate egg and vegetable dish. The Mongolian Beef had a half inch layer of grease on top of it! It was ordered extra, extra spicy times two, and came out very bland... no heat level at all... no bite, nothing. How can there be such a disconnect between order, and cook? All in all, a very disappointing experience, and now I have to spend time cleaning oily residue off the truck floor. Fortunately, I didn't put the bag on one of the leather seats! Hate to trash a small town local restaurant, but this was a pretty unacceptable experience. So I read though the reviews that were already posted and I went in with low expectations. My food was hot and the colors were beautiful. Pretty sure it wasn't slop. If it was, it happened to be disguised pretty well. The flavor of the food definitely did not taste like crap. The amount of food served to us was definitely worth the price! The waitress was friendly. I did not experience any off scents such as smoke. The atmosphere was okay, clean but the walls were a bit cluttered like most Chinese restaurants are. read more

This low rating isn't because of the food, food is delicious! The rating is because of prices and mistakes. For a single dinner it was $13.50! When i called to order i just had the online menu to look at, no pricing on it. I asked to substitute almond chicken for the sweet and sour pork. They charged me an extra $2.00 for that which seemed like a bit much but i didn't think much of it at the time. Get there and the order is $15.50! Chinese food is normally pretty cheap, I was very unpleasantly surprised by this! Got it home and they had given me fried rice instead of the bbq pork that was supposed to come with the meal, and i had no sauce for my chicken, 1 packet of soy sauce, no hot mustard, and only 4 pieces of almond chicken..... so, on top of the meal already priced high at $13.50, I paid an additional 50 cents for each piece of chicken!!!!!!! Ummmmmm, love the flavor of the food but will absolutely not be eating there anymore. Way over priced. read more

I've eaten here many times. The food is always good or better. It's not as good as the food that I've eaten around China, but it is legit Chinese cuisine, save for ingredients that are not available in the USA. If you expect more than a nice, basic, Chinese restaurant, you will be disappointed. However, this restaurant will exceed your expectations if you are just looking for good, basic Asian cuisine in Montana where the key ingredients are as alien as Caribou. I've always had good, courteous service. Park in the back to avoid maneuvering after dinner. read more

Also, have eaten here for years. Love the menu and the Buffet is really nice. People that run the place are really nice, as well. Lots of food for the money. Nice to be able to have a cocktail with the meal. Mainly eat the chicken and shrimp dishes but, all very good. read more

I recommend not going to this Chinese restaurant, even if you are craving some Chinese food. Buy some frozen Chinese food and save yourself the pain of eating China Gate's food. It couldn't be worse. We ordered Chow Mein and received a soggy and soupy cabbage dish with no noodles. When I called the restaurant to request our money back, the woman yelled at us and said it was my fault. My wife and I stopped here on our way to Glacier National Park. The waitress was friendly and the food was about average. My wife originally ordered the buffet but after a few bites, did not care for it and asked the waitress if it would be ok to cancel her buffet order and instead order a lunch off of the menu. The waitress said this would be fine. When our bill arrived, the waitress told us that because the buffet comes with rice and some of it was eaten, and then the order switched to a menu lunch item, that we would be charged $3.50. I didn't really understand because the menu item came with rice, so weren't we just trading the bowl of rice from the buffet with the bowl of rice from the menu lunch? I wish the waitress had told us we would be charged extra up front because we were under the impression that there would be no additional charge to switch from the buffet to the lunch ordered from the menu. I actually don't think the waitress thought there would be a charge but the manager was making her charge us for it. We weren't going to say anything about it since it was just $3.50 but I felt the charge wasn't right so I finally asked to speak to the manager for more information. The conversation did not go well. The manager was argumentative and kept pointing her finger at us. She blamed us for changing the order, saying that you can't just come in and try something and then change your mind. She told my wife, who is a sweet and very well liked elementary school teacher, that she was the worst customer she has had in 20 years. I was really unhappy with the way the manager was handling our concerns. To her credit though, the manager did eventually decide not to charge the $3.50, so I increased my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. read more
