Shrimp fried rice and shrimp & brocolli
    Tyra R.

The food was good and had a good flavor. I ordered shrimp and brocolli with shrimp fried rice and a vegetable egg roll for $10. The egg roll was sooooo good, and wasn't oily. The veggies were crunchy and good and the sauce that came on it was not too salty. If you don't like a lot of sauce on your food you may want to request less sauce or ask them to put it on the side.... I found that it came with a lot of sauce. The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 star rating is because the inside of the restaurant was off putting. The restaurant was under construction and had a moist/ mildew smell. The kitchen was not clean and Iooked unsanitary. It was my first time going to this place. I don't think I'll go back just based off of how the inside looked.

Terrible service and terrible food. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately taken aback by how dirty the restaurant was. It isn't a place you can go sit and have a meal. Just a carry out restaurant with a few tables and chairs. There was trash all over the floor, the tables and chairs. Restaurant had not been cleaned in weeks and showed. My son really wanted to order so we proceeded to the counter to order. There was no appreciation for the customer or the money being spend. Very caviler and borderline rude when taking order. We ended up getting shrimp lo mein and honey chicken. Both subpar and not worth any money. I would NOT recommend this location. Save your money.

    Band-aid in fried rice

I'll start by saying I've been eating here once or twice a month for 2 years now and have enjoyed it. This last visit I got pepper steak and onions with shrimp fried rice, and halfway through eating the rice I found a used band-aid in my rice. It is shaped as if it fell off of a finger. They of course denied that it came from one of their employees and did not do much to make up for the incident. The only reason they aren't getting 1 star is because of how many times I've eaten here with no problems. Very unfortunate that I'll have to stop eating here as it was convenient and pretty good.

Came to see my grandparents last weekend. Asked them where is their favorite place in town to eat and they recommended this restaurant. I tried some noodles and it was fantastic.

This place is an absolute disgrace. PLEASE PLEASE never eat here not only did the food taste awful there was a ROACH in the food. I ordered the BBQ spare ribs and shrimp fried rice . Pictures below zoom in to see the roach that was cooked in the food. This restaurant is sickening I am so disgusted and wouldn't feed my dog this crap. There is no telling how many roaches were consumed

I stopped here for a quick take-out dinner on a cold, rainy night. I was pleasantly surprised and wished it was closer to my house! I ordered General Tso's chicken and Orange Chicken and both were delicious and super fresh!! The rice was tasty and moist. I gave my eggroll to my friend so I can't vouch for that, but all in all is was a great experience. I went in to order and my food was ready about 15 minutes later. The inside is a little rough, but I'm not going to judge because it's obviously a small family operation and I wasn't eating in so it's not my problem. If you're looking for "real" gourmet Chinese food, keep moving. But if you want a great, fresh, affordable, neighborhood-type takeout Chinese joint, this is your place.

It's close to Ochsner Pretty cheap typical fast food chinese food. not amazing, not bad. Love the crab rangoons recommend if you're picking up food to go and you're near ochsner (on the way home, on the way there, eating at the hospital) probably have had their food 10x

Friendly service and the vegetables were good - but honestly some of the lowest quality beef and chicken that I've ever eaten.

I'm so happy for Miss Shirley and the amazing place that has her name on it on Magazine St. The food was exceptional. Everything from the short ribs to the Soup Dumplings, to the Moo Shu with those paper thin pancakes. Everything was fresh and fantastic. Thankfully, Magazine Street offers plenty to do to pass the time! When we were finally seated, our table was toward the back near the kitchen. The interior is a cozy but tightly packed space, which means it gets pretty loud with all the chatter bouncing around. However, any issues with the crowded feel vanish once the food arrives. The food and service easily make up for it. Our waiter brought out complimentary fried beef dumplings with a house-made chili sauce that tasted incredible. We ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice (shrimp, pork, chicken, egg, pineapple, and onions) and it was absolute perfection. We also got the lightly battered Orange Ginger Chicken with broccoli, which had amazing flavor. Well worth the visit!

Rather than pursuing a burger, I decided to try this well regarded Chinese restaurant across the street from my hotel. This review is based on one item I got for takeout: Szechuan Beef. I am never one to equate quantity with quality. I'm also not well-versed in authentic Chinese. I'm mostly familiar with American Chinese. I ordered Szechuan beef expecting a dry stir fry of beef strips tossed with dried Szechuan peppers. Instead I got a 1 quart container with a zesty, moderately spicy broth loaded with tender strips of melt-in-your-mouth beef. This was pure heaven, and was an explosion of tangy flavor. The quart could've easily served a family of 4. That would just require another side of rice. This was just outstanding! The restaurant was compact yet inviting and service was great. I placed my takeout order on site at the counter, but they have table service.

I've eaten here before and the food is decent, which makes this experience even more disappointing…read more I ordered a dish with shrimp and simply asked to substitute broccoli for the rice. When the bill arrived, I noticed I had been charged extra for the broccoli and also charged for shrimp--even though shrimp was already the protein included in the menu item I ordered. I politely questioned the charge, and the explanation I received didn't seem to match what was stated on the menu. I then asked to speak with a manager so the issue could be addressed. After quite a bit of discussion in the kitchen, the server returned, but instead of a manager coming out, I was given essentially the same explanation we had already discussed. I calmly explained why the charges didn't make sense and expressed that I was unhappy with how the situation was being handled. Unfortunately, there seemed to be little interest in resolving the concern or retaining my business. The food is fine, but my advice is to carefully review your bill before paying. Based on my experience, management does not appear particularly concerned when customers raise billing issues.

Back again in NOLA for more R&D, I chose to reside in the Garden District to also explore an area…read moresomewhat away from the general tourist population swarming the French Quarter. This week I wanted to visit spots successfully catering to locals and stumbled upon this tiny neighborhood hidden gem. Hidden because one would have easily missed it repeatedly when driving (or walking) past since the whole exterior was so unassuming at first glance. It only showed up on my radar when I meticulously searched for seafood spots on different platforms and randomly stumbled on their Facebook page. Best boiled crawfish and shrimp it said. Always fresh it exclaimed. Decently priced it stated. Well, this I had to go see it for myself and put to test. This was obviously a detour from my planned R&D in NOLA but was definitely a spot that must be designed for locals (and random tourists like me). This was confirmed immediately when I stepped in to see a long line of construction workers from the nearby site picking up lunch and some young kids digging into bags of shrimp and crawfish in utter delight. While looking at their sharpie streaked menu, I noticed quite a number of customers striking up conversations with the lady behind the plexiglass like long lost friends as they too picked up food to-go. Yeah, definitely a local friendly spot. Shrimp and crawfish by the pound was CHEAP in comparison to all the places in the area I've been. The best part? After getting back to the AirBnB, I realized just how good and fresh the seafood was! Succulent, very well seasoned, and not severely overcooked (like some spots around here prefer to serve it). I could taste the spices and aromatic vegetables used in the boil and found each bite absolutely tonguegasmic. Came for a pre-lunch snack and now back for a pre-dinner snack. Both the lady and gentleman had a smirk and muffled giggle as they saw me again. "You like it?" No, I love it. I'm here for a week and I'll be back every day you're open until I fly out of here. Take my money and give me thy awesome shrimp!

A quick Yelp…read moreand Google check showed great reviews, and even though the photos looked pretty simple, we decided to give it a try. Sometimes that's just how travel works and you cross paths with unexpected gems. The owner and his family couldn't have been nicer. This place has been around for over 30 years, a mix of convenience store and local eatery. The owner, an older Asian gentleman, warmly asked me and my husband where we were from as soon as he saw us. We think maybe because there aren't many Asian in the neighborhood and it instantly felt welcoming and we started to chitchat. His son was helping in the kitchen that day, and the guy taking our order (super friendly, too!) turned out to be his son-in-law, just stopping by on his day off. This place is small but we could tell most of the steady stream of takeout customers were regulars. We ordered about $50 worth of food: * C2 Fried Chicken (10 pcs) - $11.99 * P6 Shrimp Po'boy (12") - $5.99 * P8 Catfish Po'boy (12") - $7.99 * R5 Cajun Gumbo - $8.99 * Two cans of drinks It felt special that on our very first day in New Orleans, we got to try two of the city's most iconic dishes: Gumbo and Po'boys right here in this humble neighborhood spot. The fried chicken was super crispy, the Po'boys were packed with filling, and the gumbo was flavorful without being overly salty. We couldn't finish it all, so the leftovers became our breakfast the next morning. The shop itself is nothing fancy, just two folding tables and a few chairs but the food and the warmth of the people made it one of those memorable stops that really stick with us. We actually came back on our last day in New Orleans and wanted to try the Yak-Ka-Mein Soup which was recommended by the owner but it was closed on Memorial Day:( I guess we will save it for our next visit. If you ever find yourself in the area, I'd highly recommend trying their food. T&T Seafood & Po-Boys 548 Jackson Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130
