    Sauteed Broccoli Style with Beef.

Decided to have lunch here before we left the great state of LA. The food was amazing! We had a mixture of appetizers and an entree. The service was fast and friendly. It was a small place and we had our carry-on bags with us, but the staff let us put it by the next table. Thankfully no one was sitting there, so we weren't in anyone's way. We are definitely coming here again.

We were trying to decide where to eat, when we saw Dian Xin, we've previously enjoyed our meals at the other location. So, we stopped in and ordered several items to share between the 3 of us. Cucumber salad, was so good the first time, but fell flat here. The pan fried pork dumplings were also better the first time, they were good, but not as good as we remembered. We also ordered the stir fried vegetable noodles, which were very tasty. The shrimp fried rice, may have been our favorite item of all. We also ordered crab rangoon, which were pretty standard, but I really liked the spring rolls. The service was good, she just brought out items when they were ready. The dining room is pretty small, but they seemed to get the food out quickly.

Dian Xin remains a solid choice for great food, especially before a night out on Bourbon Street. The dishes came out fast, tasted DELICIOUS, and the portions were generous--definitely easy to share while still leaving full and satisfied. Quaint, homey, and quiet enough to hear the people you're dining with. That said, I wish the service matched the quality of the food. Interactions were very lukewarm throughout the experience. And every time I thanked the staff for something, I was met with silence, which made the whole experience feel a little cold. My partner was dining there for the first time (I am not local to New Orleans anymore and we were visiting on Valentine's Day), and I was hoping for a warmer experience. I don't remember this being an issue in the past, so maybe it was just an off night. Still, the food was as lovely as ever, and that alone is why I might be willing to return. The Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings, sauteed broccoli, and salt and pepper squid were STARS. Just hoping for a little more hospitality in the future.

Stopped in to grab to go because this was highly recommended. We had plans to eat dinner somewhere else, but we wanted to try this place because I was told it was the. BEST. I picked the pork boa. Omg! It was delicious!!! We all tried it & were wanting more. We all will be back. I loved the lady making the foid from scratch right there in the restaurant. Nice touch!

10/10 we had the shrimp and crawfish bao, original bao and general chicken. One of my favorite meals here. Service was good and restaurant was clean.

Turn off your online ordering since you are closed. I was charged full price for a take-out order, waited half an hour, walk over and there are signs saying the location is closed for renovations. This is on Wednesday, February 18th 2026.

This review is for the 2 consecutive nights we had dinner at Dian Xin. Location: conveniently located near our hotel so walking for our appetites was good Food: everything was delicious and not too greasy. The first night we finished all our food except for my mom's soup because she ate all the other food. Tonight we had leftovers bc we ordered too much. Price: is very reasonable for the amount of food served. Staff: friendly and attentive Venue: it has simple decor, the restaurant itself is clean. One con, when my mom and sis went to the restroom the night of 11/20/24, they said the restroom they went to was dirty. 11/21/24, they tried the other restroom and they said it was much cleaner. All in all, I recommend this place. Enjoy.

Tucked away in the French quarter, this restaurant is so sweet and inviting. It has homestyle vibes, with our waiter being super cool and helpful! The portions were pretty big, and we left with plenty of leftovers. I can tell that they put a lot of care into their broth. It was rich and full of flavor, and there were so many options for toppings! I would definitely return, and I'd like to try their other restaurant in the French Quarter as well!

My kiddo decided he wanted to go out for Chinese takeout our first night in New Orleans...I managed to convince him that we should at least eat in. We looked online at a few restaurants and Dian Xin 2 looked the best. The outside is a fairly unassuming location. A colorful sign hangs outside from the cover. The dumpling design was cute. We were seated immediately. Our waiter brought over menus and explained a few items, as well as getting our drink order. He helped out with ensuring I didn't get the dumplings, because other than the veggie ones, all of them were pork-based. Ordered cucumber salad to start. It had this great tangy and sweet chili sauce. For our main dish, we ordered Beef Ribs Hot Pot Style with ramen, hot pot beef slices, fried tofu, prince mushrooms, and bok choy (listed as daily greens on the menu). The broth was flavorful with peppers and beef already in it. We added the tofu, beef slices, mushrooms, and bok choy to the broth to cook as we went. Everything cooked perfectly in the broth, and we filled up quickly. We ended up taking back leftovers. 1.5 containers worth! My kiddo said this was the best hot pot he's ever had, and I would agree.

Steamed Pork Dumplings and Honey Chicken Special

Christmas dinner. Came since we had read the good reviews. Long line outside the restaurant but we were seated immediately - party only of 2. We ordered the honey chicken and steamed dumplings. Good service and attentive waiter although they were busy! Portions decent size. Woman making the dumplings and baos right there so you could watch. Very loud inside - made worse by obnoxious other diners who might have had too much to drink . Not the best Chinese we have ever had but not bad.

    Salt and Pepper Squid

This place is quite small and popular so it can get quite crowded. However my family of four came on a Friday night and were seated within ten minutes. While the place seems really authentic, there are options that also appeal to the American palette. Our server seemed pretty distressed as it seemed he was the only one for the whole restaurant. We got the Crabmeat and crawfish Soup Dumplings which were delicious. I loved seeing the crawfish too like blending of culture. The garlic veggies were also delicious, my favorite part was the taro. The Veggie Baos were only ok and the Salt and Pepper Squid didn't blow me away either.

Do you have a waitlist or reservation system for tables to dine in at this location?

I dont believe so, as its a small restaurant like there are hardly 5 tables so they dont have a reservation system. Its a first come first serve.

We had eaten a lot of meat on this trip, so we were desperately craving some vegetables. Visiting this restaurant was such a good choice. We also ordered pork soup dumplings, fried rice, green beans, asparagus, spinach (?), and chicken wings. The star of the show was surprisingly the GREEN BEANS. Simply SPECTACULAR. We all agreed that was our favorite dish. My least favorite dish was the asparagus; it tastes plain. It's a pretty cute restaurant. Nice crisp and stuffing. The steamed sticky rice in a lotus leaf was HUGE. That in itself could be a meal and the meats inside were a good hearty size not all chopped up. The shrimp toast and the squid come on top of greens which I didn't really like as they wilt with the heat of the items. The service was great! Our server was friendly, welcoming, and quick. The bathroom was quite pretty with the detailing on the doors and the dragon water sprout.

Beware if you have not experienced push cart dimsum as it can be really overstimulating. But I like the aspect of it because it feels really authentic. Since the last time I have been here, there were some new items they offered. One that I tried was the black sesame salted egg yolk bun, which I really liked! Its a good runny consistency and has a good flavor if you like salted egg yolk. Other than that, we had the typical dimsum classics like shu mai, har gow, and chicken feet which were all pretty good, but not insanely good. My biggest complaint about the place is the spacing of the tables. The tables are barely one foot apart from one another, so it feels like we are in everyones conversation and I can imagine if it were busier, it would be tight and uncomfortable. The employees were all nice and quick with service when we went.

And not the soy sauce or seasoning kind you'd expect with dim sum--just straightforward table salt. We ordered four dishes, and I was glad I saved the wings for last since they were the least salty. By the time I circled back through the other plates, all I could taste was salt, which sadly masked what were otherwise really well-balanced, flavorful dishes (the Dan Dan dumplings in particular had great flavor underneath it all).
