Back again in NOLA for more R&D, I chose to reside in the Garden District to also explore an area somewhat away from the general tourist population swarming the French Quarter. This week I wanted to visit spots successfully catering to locals and stumbled upon this tiny neighborhood hidden gem. Hidden because one would have easily missed it repeatedly when driving (or walking) past since the whole exterior was so unassuming at first glance. It only showed up on my radar when I meticulously searched for seafood spots on different platforms and randomly stumbled on their Facebook page. Best boiled crawfish and shrimp it said. Always fresh it exclaimed. Decently priced it stated. Well, this I had to go see it for myself and put to test. This was obviously a detour from my planned R&D in NOLA but was definitely a spot that must be designed for locals (and random tourists like me). This was confirmed immediately when I stepped in to see a long line of construction workers from the nearby site picking up lunch and some young kids digging into bags of shrimp and crawfish in utter delight. While looking at their sharpie streaked menu, I noticed quite a number of customers striking up conversations with the lady behind the plexiglass like long lost friends as they too picked up food to-go. Yeah, definitely a local friendly spot. Shrimp and crawfish by the pound was CHEAP in comparison to all the places in the area I've been. The best part? After getting back to the AirBnB, I realized just how good and fresh the seafood was! Succulent, very well seasoned, and not severely overcooked (like some spots around here prefer to serve it). I could taste the spices and aromatic vegetables used in the boil and found each bite absolutely tonguegasmic. Came for a pre-lunch snack and now back for a pre-dinner snack. Both the lady and gentleman had a smirk and muffled giggle as they saw me again. "You like it?" No, I love it. I'm here for a week and I'll be back every day you're open until I fly out of here. On our walk from hotel to Walmart, my husband and I stumbled across this little spot. A quick Yelp and Google check showed great reviews, and even though the photos looked pretty simple, we decided to give it a try. Sometimes that's just how travel works and you cross paths with unexpected gems. The owner and his family couldn't have been nicer. This place has been around for over 30 years, a mix of convenience store and local eatery. The owner, an older Asian gentleman, warmly asked me and my husband where we were from as soon as he saw us. We think maybe because there aren't many Asian in the neighborhood and it instantly felt welcoming and we started to chitchat. His son was helping in the kitchen that day, and the guy taking our order (super friendly, too!) turned out to be his son-in-law, just stopping by on his day off. This place is small but we could tell most of the steady stream of takeout customers were regulars. We ordered about $50 worth of food: * C2 Fried Chicken (10 pcs) - $11.99 * P6 Shrimp Po'boy (12") - $5.99 * P8 Catfish Po'boy (12") - $7.99 * R5 Cajun Gumbo - $8.99 * Two cans of drinks It felt special that on our very first day in New Orleans, we got to try two of the city's most iconic dishes: Gumbo and Po'boys right here in this humble neighborhood spot. The fried chicken was super crispy, the Po'boys were packed with filling, and the gumbo was flavorful without being overly salty. We couldn't finish it all, so the leftovers became our breakfast the next morning. The shop itself is nothing fancy, just two folding tables and a few chairs but the food and the warmth of the people made it one of those memorable stops that really stick with us. We actually came back on our last day in New Orleans and wanted to try the Yak-Ka-Mein Soup which was recommended by the owner but it was closed on Memorial Day:( I guess we will save it for our next visit. Bought a few pounds of crawfish about a month ago but forgot to review. Ordered an hour before closing, so maybe that's why it didn't seem fresh. I wish they would've just rejected my order if they weren't gonna drop a new batch, but the people working there were nice. Seasoning was meh in my opinion. Not bad, but not good. I'm not gonna rate too harshly because it might've been better if I ordered earlier and I haven't tried the rest of the menu. read more

It's a get in and get out spot but I suggest finding the closest spot possible to you to start peeling those crawfish. That was the best boil I've bought - great size and taste. Grab napkins and be careful for your clothes and eyes because you will be dripping crawfish juice. read more

Ever since I've been coming to New Orleans, which has been a while, i've seen some grocery stores advertise that they have yakamein soup. I had to try it and I read that this place was good so I went. It's a nondescript corner store on Jackson Avenue in New Orleans, but as you enter you see the menu on the wall and pick an item. In a few minutes I got a 32 oz. styrofoam cup filled with this delicious, spicy, steamy soup with shrimp, noodles, green onions, and hard boiled egg. So good and filling. Can't wait to go back. Was a bit difficult to find - we originally thought it was a restaurant but it's a grab and go only storefront. Wanted to get some crawfish but the owner told us it was going to be an hour wait so we got the yakamein instead. Delicious po-boy! We got the shrimp, catfish, and roast beef - the shrimp was the best but all 3 were great.

I only tried the crawfish but they were delicious! It was definitely a hole in the wall joint...which is proving to be where the good food is. They were pretty hot...like made me sniffle...but that isn't a complaint! They had a great flavor! read more

I don't know why this place didn't pop up on my Initial yelp search in the garden district. I discovered it was virtually the only thing open on the day of Mardis Gras. Stopped in and ordered a Shrimp PoBoy as well as the Catfish PoBoy. It was delicious ! I was reluctant at first, but once I walked in and saw a line of locals, I knew the food would be great. In comparison to a shrimp po boy I had at a fancy restaurant in the French quarter , the one I got from T&T was much more fresh and tasty. I'll definitely be returning. read more

Had the shrimp po boy and it's was very good and huge. The bread is fresh and so was the shrimp. Tried the roast beef power boy and it was also very good. For 9 bucks you really get your money's worth. This place has been around pre katrina and I can see why. Great local spot read more

Two stars because we've had decent food here in the past and don't want to completely negate that, but the last time we went in, this past Saturday Apr 26, we got 8lbs of crawfish for $30 and had to throw the entire thing away. For that, they deserve 0 stars. The tail meat was grey, which we have never ever seen anywhere before, and extremely mealy. The flavor was not good as well. None of it was edible. We tried to keep peeling, but literally every crawfish was bad. Either they reboiled some old boiled crawfish or didn't clean them or used poor quality. This was very upsetting, because getting boiled crawfish is a treat for us and very expensive. It's completely unacceptable to serve people this quality of food and think that you can charge them top dollar. The only way we'd be willing to give them another chance is if we got our money back. read more

I live just down Jackson from this place and was on my way to Parasols for lunch when I thought I'd open yelp and see what the deal was with this little corner store and if it was a sneaky secret gem. Reviews looked good and I already had a hankering for a shrimp po boy (which the reviews all seemed to praise). Was pleasantly surprised to see it was an Asian po boy shop so got a few egg rolls and shrimp fried rice to go along with a shrimp po boy. Didn't get the option for hot sauce or to have it dressed which was the first sign things were amiss. Got home and opened it up and it looked and smelled good. Fresh, soft but flaky bread. But then I tore into it and it was not so good. The shrimp were mostly breading and didn't taste fresh at all. My fiancé couldn't finish her half and made a tuna sandwich instead. She actually dumped the shrimp off her bread and reused the bread since it was actually quite good. I powered through mine with help from a lot of hot sauce but couldn't help thinking the whole time how I should have gone to Parasol's. Egg role was good but that po boy was one of the least satisfying I've had in this city in my 5 years here. read more

Can only speak for the crawfish but they were fresh, hot, and tasty with plenty of nice spice. Depending on availability should also have boiled shrimp and crabs. Will have to go back to try a poboy. Takeout only style with the staff and food separated from customers with security glass but a nice little addition to the neighborhood. New go to crawfish spot. read more

We had just spent all day at jazz fest, the four of us were exhausted from travel and festing. T&T is near the house so after showers we walked down to find them closed. We were 20 mins late. As we are walking away/ making a new plan. A lady opens the door and lets us in. Open for us. Holy cats!!! This never happens. She did not bat an eye to our order and even let us bring our dog in.
