Extremely overpriced. I ordered the shrimp & scallop diet plate with brown rice and it cost $14.50. The brown rice was a two dollar up charge and I feel the plate is very much lacking in protein, but definitely stuffed to the brim with broccoli. I will not be coming back. I usually don't leave reviews, but this has happened more than once and it's unacceptable. Every time we order from this restaurant, the food is so hot that it melts the Styrofoam containers it's packed in. I've attached pictures to show how the container literally warps and sticks to the food. The smell is even worse it doesn't smell like food, it smells like burnt plastic. That's a serious health hazard. Food should never be packed in containers that can't handle heat, and there's no excuse for continuing this practice. I'm deeply concerned about what we might be ingesting when the melted container fuses with the food. Until this issue is resolved, we won't be ordering again and I recommend others avoid it too. read more

I have been craving shrimp and broccoli for the past couple of days. I don't like trying too many places for Chinese food. And I am very picky. But I must say, my food was delicious and fresh. The shrimp was huge. As well as the portion size. I didn't get the eggroll, I did get the stuff wonton. They were 2 big pieces. The price was amazing for the lunch special I paid $8. It also came with fried rice. I got the chicken fried rice instead of pork. I will recommend this place. It's a great takeout place. Small, clean Chinese cafe with a few tables and a thriving takeout business. Very friendly and accommodating family greeting customers and providing cheerful service. Large variety of items on the menu at very reasonable prices. Excellent execution of traditional Chinese dishes such as Singapore noodles and Cashew Chicken. Spring rolls are light, crispy and delicious. Although they do not normally deliver, they kindly delivered to our reception for a memorial service. In the pandemic, we wanted to serve guests safely. We've been eating here for 15 years. They are consistently fresh, great portion size, great prices. The restaurant is clean and well kept. They specialize in take out but have 4 tables for dine in. I dont know where else you can get this quality for the price. The owners are extremely nice. It's a family run business and the kids are great too. read more

Visiting from California and due to the reviews we decided to try Star Wok before we flew home the next day. Chinese food in Sacramento is inedible and it's rare to find any decent restaurants so we were anxious to try it N.O. Disappointed!!! Egg drop soup was flavorless. Zero taste. Zero seasoning. No peas, carrot or green onion. Really? Pork fried rice was oily with tiny pieces of pork. Chicken broccoli, Kung Pao chicken and General Tsao chicken were ok, nothing special. No one ate more than 1/4 of their food. $40 wasted! And please let your children be children instead of forcing them to work when they are studying. Oldest boy was up and down, back and forth every time they called his name. Another reason I cannot recommend Star Wok. Sad to watch. Do better!!! read more

The worst Chinesse food I have ever eaten. I ordered the popo platter appetizer. It was terrible, the satay was like leather. The shrimp toast was nearly black, dry and so over cooked. The crab wontons were dry and barely had a pinch of filling. I must say the fried chick and fried shrimp were good. okay I gave that up to being prepared poorly and just sitting in a tray. I don't know why I haven't written a review on this place yet - I've been going here for years. I always do take-out on my way home from work. They are always super fast and it's ready by the time I arrive. I've had almost everything on the menu over the years. Tonight I ordered the shrimp and broccoli combination dinner with egg roll and pork fried rice. Very delicious for the reasonable price. The egg roll was tasty (be sure to take a packet of the duck sauce and a packet of mustard for the egg roll.) The shrimps were large and tender and the broccoli was tender-crisp with a tasty sauce. The fried rice was very good and the portions are always large. Although I've had better Chinese food, I really think that this place is a good, healthy alternative to a burger and fries at an incredibly reasonable price and that's why I'm giving it 5 stars. Oh, and they are just the nicest people in the world. So, I'll be going back to Star Wok for take-out for many more years to come. read more
