    Shrimp Egg Foo Young
    L.E. B.

I happened to be in the neighborhood and having missed lunch I decided to give them another try after the last terrible meal I had there. I called in and ordered hot and sour soup and decided to take my coworker an order of egg rolls as I was going back to the office to enjoy my soup. My soup was actually pretty good and my co worker enjoyed the egg rolls - they looked hot and crispy. I had to return to the same neighborhood yesterday so I decided to give in to my cravings and I called in the same order again. This time? The lady answering the phone questioned why my area code was not local? She was absolutely rude questioning me "are you in New Orleans, are you here???' Which is odd because they used to know my number when I would call in a to go order. Anyway, order was picked up, I return to work and open the egg rolls. Greasy, half cooked, oil all over the box, NOTHING like the order I had previously picked up. Learned my lesson - these owners and managers of 5 Happiness DO NOT CARE. They are rude and happy to provide you tasteless, oily food. Here's a pic of the soggy, oily egg rolls. I won't be back.

The food is just ok, I feel like there may be better options. There wasn't a lot of flavor. The service was also just ok, my waitress was nice. But I had gnats around my table so I couldn't eat comfortably.

Really large portions for great prices. The service was quick and helpful! The ambiance inside was better than I expected from the outside. We got the Peking duck which ended up being 5 meals for us with the crepes, rice, and green onion included. The beef lo mein was good but I'd get a different meat next time. They bring wonton crisps when you're seated which are addicting!

Very impressive. I eat a lot of Chinese food and I have to say this place has the best Wonton soup I've ever had. The order, delivered by Uber Eats arrived 25 minutes ahead of schedule. It was a little pricey, but honestly, as good as it was, I'm not complaining. I could easily eat the Lo Mein for two meals.

Cute fabric bag for delivery orders!

The fish class came with two large fish, you got to keep the knife, and learned skills. The lady monger demonstrated on her fish, and then watches you carefully, guiding you to ensure the best technique. There was about 4 people per cutting table and they also required use to wear apron and gloves. Don't feel intimidated because they are right there guiding, ensuring safety. It was a fun unique experience. Even if you know how to gut a fish, you may still learn something new! I have to come back and try some these fresh sandwiches or poboys. The fried "Captain's Platter" is $35, it's worth maybe $12. It was 4 shrimp, 4 oysters, and a decent sized piece of fish, all considerably over-fried, with fairly plain coleslaw and hushpuppies that looked like they had been cooking since the shift the day before. --- I honestly couldn't believe this was brought to the table, but it seemed normal so apparently that is how it is served there. It was VERY small and fairly overcooked. The boiled crabs were mush. Decent flavor, not great. Would not recommend. The charbroiled oysters again seemed to have been cooking for 3-4 times longer than they should have. They were rubber, flavorless and unappetizing to look at. They were pretty bad. - At least they were clean. I didn't get any shell. But I also didn't get any oyster in 1 of the 6 oysters served at $18. Then we got a Sausage Poboy. The sausage was decent, but the sandwich wasn't good. WHY WOULD YOU TOAST THE BREAD? NO ONE WANTS SAUSAGE BETWEEN TWO CROUTONS. Just kind of a weird mistake that makes you wonder if anyone there has tried to eat any of their own food. Because it's not easy... Honestly 90% of the food we got there was pretty bad. But we will be back for Tostada alone. That was phenomenal. 10/10 Delicious.

We've been here many times over the years, but it had been a while since our last visit. We started with the crawfish beignets and spinach & artichoke dip--both were delicious! I especially love the tortillas they serve with the dip, along with salsa and sour cream. For our entrées, my husband had the redfish topped with crab meat, my daughter had the 12-oz steak frites, and I had the seared scallops with green beans. Everything was good overall, and my daughter especially loved her steak. Each entrée also came with a small salad with a light dressing and a couple of marinated olives, which I really enjoyed. The one disappointment was the lentils that now come with the redfish. My husband remembered the dish coming with potatoes, which he preferred. I tried the lentils too, and neither of us was a fan. The restaurant was packed, but we only waited about seven minutes to be seated, and the lively atmosphere didn't bother us at all. Our server was friendly and attentive despite how busy it was. My biggest takeaway, though, was the price increase. Many entrées are now $35-$40+, and by the end of dinner, we realized we had spent quite a bit for three people--enough to make us think we could have eaten at a higher-end restaurant for the same price. Still, we enjoyed our evening and would recommend Superior Seafood. We especially like coming here for happy hour and sitting at the bar, which is probably our favorite way to visit!

It was super close to where we were staying, and since I didn't catch a seafood boil in the Quarter or anywhere else in town, I had to try this spot. My friend and I had our eyes on it, but once our Uber driver confirmed it was a bomb spot, we were all in and it did not disappoint. I even met a lady who drives 45 minutes just to get here, so if she makes that trek, you know this is the spot. I will be dreaming of this place! Being takeout-only gave it that authentic, local vibe, and I loved every bite. Unlike the typical mixed seafood boils, they bag everything separately, and I mixed it all together once I got back to my place. They have some garlic butter you can add, and I got it spicy! It definitely had a kick, and I loved it. I had a pound of shrimp, added sausage, two boiled eggs, the BOMBEST potatoes and corn, all tossed with the spicy garlic butter and I devoured it. Let me just brag on that shrimp and those potatoes for a second: both were amazing. The potatoes were cooked to perfection! Soft, not mushy, and seasoned just right. And the shrimp? Wow. I can still taste it. If you're in NOLA, you have to check this spot out! I will say one more thing though I wish I had room to try the gumbo! I would have loved to taste it here. Lastly, I didn't get to grab a po' boy in town, so we came back the next morning to try one. Sadly, the seafood section wasn't ready yet (we went around 10:30am), but the roast beef po' boy with gravy, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and maybe few other ingredients in it was incredible. I loved it! You'll definitely catch me here again next time I'm in town. 10,000/10. Thank you, cooks! A few practical things: if you're driving, there's parking. The service was friendly, prices were great, and while there isn't indoor seating, the waiting area is decent-sized. Just know it can get busy!

We were hungry and expected a normal, enjoyable seafood experience, but unfortunately, the restaurant's inconsistent service policy overshadowed our visit. When our group arrived, we were told that anyone seated outside on the patio had to pay for their entire meal before the food would be served. Although that was unusual, we respected what we were told was the restaurant's policy and paid upfront without an issue. However, while eating, we noticed that other guests seated on the same patio were allowed to enjoy their meals and pay afterward. We watched several of these interactions, so it became clear that the rule was not being applied consistently. When we questioned it, we learned that our server required patio guests to pay in advance, while another server chose not to enforce that policy with their customers. That inconsistency made our group feel singled out and uncomfortable. If paying upfront is truly the restaurant's patio policy, it should be applied equally to every customer--not enforced based on which server happens to handle the table. As for the food, I tried the charbroiled crab legs for the first time, and the flavor was interesting. Unfortunately, the service issue left a much stronger impression than the meal itself. Because of that experience, I'm unsure whether I would return to this location.

One restaurant that locals constantly recommended to me was Drago's Seafood in Metairie, and now I completely understand why. I ordered the charbroiled oysters along with the crawfish platter that came with crawfish étouffée, crawfish mac and cheese, and fried crawfish. Every single thing on the table was incredible. The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality. The only downside is parking can get a little complicated because the place fills up fast, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is. Just plan ahead or expect a short wait finding a spot. My bartender, Darryl, took fantastic care of me. Vibes in this place are very warm and cozy, I sat at the bar to the right of the entrance as you walk in. I had a half dozen char grilled oysters and a cup of seafood gumbo. I see why the oysters are so popular, they are a hit. Buttery and garlicky, the crusty bread they serve with them is a great compliment to soak up the sauce. I had originally intended on getting the chicken and andouille gumbo but Darryl steered me away from it, he said it was very salty. I trusted his word and went with the seafood gumbo instead and was very pleased with it. The flavors were fantastic, but I am gonna ding it ever so slightly as I think $8.99 is kind of an obscene price for that serving size, but at least it was good. Overall I'm very satisfied with my lunch and the service, I think if you like seafood and you're in their area, you should eat here. Edit - $9 for a pint is a little over the top too, imo. My "light lunch" was $42 before the tip.
