December 10th 2024 went to zhang's bistro here in New Orleans. Incredible ambience with beautiful settings and Oriental decoration. The $22 spicy Szechuan Hot wok with shrimp came with garlic, onion, bell peppers, cauliflower, and jalapeno. Large serving size to match its price. A bit on the greasy side but the dish was delicious nevertheless. The $19 Mongolian beef came with white onion, green onions and garlic and went well with the white rice and extra plate a mixed of vegetables. Would order again This was one of the most beautiful Chinese restaurants that I have ever been to and definitely the most attractive restaurant in New Orleans. My only regret is that we only came here only once, as my stomach needed some relief from the hot spicy food.

    delicious drunken noodles

Can I give 5 stars based off one dish? I don't see why not... I was in need of A/C, a respite, and fuel. And all of that came in the form of Zhang Bistro. A relatively simple menu with Chinese American staples, I went with drunken noodles with chicken. I was expecting something average and was so so so happy with the dish. It had an herbaceous sweetness to it. The chicken was tender. The noodles had a nice bite to them and weren't over cooked. After adding a few dashes of chili sauce... it was the perfect lunch to help me on my hot NOLA way. My server was so sweet. The ambiance was relaxed, cute, approachable, but still thoughtful. And it looks like they have an awesome happy hour so I took a photo for the general public knowledge. Not to mention they have beers as cheap as four dollars! Overall, a really nice little find.

Overall great experience. Had the Peking dunk sampler spicy cucumber, salad, and shrimp Tom gum soup with a wrap up of mango sticky rice. The true highlight was a spicy cucumber salad. Flavors were spot on. Overall, very good experience.

The restaurant looks nice when you first walk in, however once you sit down you start to notice all the chipped dinnerware. They have a good selection of menu items and can cater to vegan or gluten free dietary needs. For food, I tried the fried cream cheese wontons, drunken noodles, and the spicy Szechuan hot wok. I asked for the drunken noodles to be mildly spicy and they weren't spicy at all. All of the food was just average. The customer service was lacking here. There were no drink refills throughout the meal and the waiter never brought a large plate for the wok entree, so you were stuck using the small appetizer plate.

Great quality food. Service and ambience were impressive for the prices! Neat place for Asian cuisine in the French Quarter.

Love this place! I honestly don't understand why they don't ever seem to be very busy but selfishly I never have to wait for a table. It must be the location because the food and service are always excellent. Some of the very best hot and sour soup in the city. We tend to purchase the appetizers and small bites to share. Last visit we tried the ribs, so tender and full of flavor. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable.

    Pad Thai - quite gross
    Cara D.

I just ordered via Uber eats, spending $70, for very disappointing meals. They ran a special of 2 for 1 on the pad Thai. Because I am a cancer patient and have gastric issues, I requested no peppers or chilies but they put some in anyway. The taste, however, was even worse. Instead of using tamarind, it tastes like tomato paste was used. Quite gross. Lastly, regarding the pad Thai, the chicken must have been soaked in a baking soda solution to make it tender. It was tenderized too long giving the chicken a mystery meat texture. I feel like I wasted my hard earned money for "food" I can't eat. Hopefully the soup and rice are better but I'm leery of trying either. Never again!

My partner and I have always been fans of Zhang Bistro, so we decided to have our wedding rehearsal dinner here. I cannot even begin to describe the amount of care, dedication and hard work Ashley and her team went into making our event special! She, Lily, and Cyprian decorated the tables, provided fresh flowers and even printed out special menus for us. My youngest nephew who has special needs is typically a picky eater, but Ashley and her team went out of their way to create him separate dishes that he loved and ate. The food, drinks and ambiance were beyond spectacular, and I would recommend Zhangs Bistro to everyone!

First time eating here. They had both a vegan and gluten free menu. There was a good array of choices. Only thing I was hoping for was fish. The only choice was fried. There was still much more to choose from, though. The food came out very quickly and was prepared well. The tofu and vegetables was light and not too oily. The server was friendly and checked on us frequently. The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. It was great to step away from the hustle and bustle of the street. We will be back.

Today we went to Zhangs. It was cute. I am going to start out and say my review is perhaps a little unfair. I rarely am, but today I ordered the only meal that was just okay. The shrimp shumai had a sauce that I could drink. The red cripsy chicken was really good, but you have to love hot. The shrimp fried rice was just excellent. I, however, did not order these dishes. I ordered the pad Thai. It wasn't bad. The shrimp was so fresh, and well cooked, but the sauce was a little off for me. I think the waiter tried to direct me differently, but I didn't read between the lines. It wasn't horrible, but it did let me down. I may return and order differently.

Nestled at the far end of the French Quarter, just a block or two from Marigny and away from the hustle and bustle, this hidden gem serves some of the most exquisite dishes. With its inviting ambiance, white tablecloth style service,I believe the meals here are worthy of Michelin recognition. This is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge their palate and enjoy a remarkable dining experience!

One of the best Thai spots in the city. We do takeout mainly due to parking issues in the FQ. If you are a tourist, this is not a problem.

I thought we were going to another place when one of my guests suggested Thaihey across the street from the fire station on Decatur. Yes, sure. Many will understand the limited menu options for vegetarians at most places. Wes ordered Tom Kai, Becky the Massaman Jackfruit option and I the one with short rib. It was delicious. It was warm and comforting, full of flavor and the chef made it less spicy for me. What a delight to choose a menu option that I have never had and restaurant that I have never been to. Thai food can sometimes be hit or miss for me, and I'm usually pretty particular about what I order. I don't tend to branch out too much when it comes to Thai food because I already know what I like. It was the kind of meal where you just keep eating and forget you were supposed to take pictures in the first place! The restaurant itself is spacious and has a really beautiful aesthetic. I loved the combination of the artwork and exposed brick walls. Together, they create this rustic, cozy feel that makes the space feel both stylish and inviting. First off -- the food itself was VERY fresh, flavorful, and honestly really good. The portions are absolutely humongous. Like... huge. My husband was born and raised in East New Orleans, where this restaurant is located, so he knows the area very well. This place seems fairly new though, so we wanted to support a small business and give it a try. One thing I will say is the customer service wasn't the friendliest. There were only two of us, and with the amount of food we ordered, I feel like they could've at least warned us about how large the portions were. We originally ordered the 5-piece wings, but they didn't have that option available, so they automatically gave us the 10-piece without really explaining it or saying anything beforehand. The vibe honestly felt a little like you have to know people there to get the full welcoming experience because we noticed other customers getting smiles and a little more interaction, while ours felt very dry. Not sure what that was about. Also, the food does take a LONG time to come out, but you can definitely tell it's freshly made, so I can appreciate that. Overall, despite the service not being the best, the food was really good and worth trying. I'd definitely order from here again if we're back in the area -- but probably to-go next time.
