Do keep in mind their appetizers and entrees on their happy, while theyre priced almost half the price, their portion will reflect the same. If you liked smaller portion like us, HH order will be perfect if you're there during their HH. But if you expect a deal for the same amount of good, this is not the place. We started on a high note with the calamri appetizer. Delish!! Don't skip when you're here. We also especially enjoyed our spicy crawfish roll (4.5/5) and salmon avocado (5/5). Fresh ingredients; Very good portion for under $6. Their Mongolian beef is okay (3/5). The beef had a chew to it but the flavor was decent. Service was wonderful and while the server does not know much about how food is prepared, she knows what she likes there and warmly recommend what she thinks is good to us. This was the WORST salt and pepper calamari I have ever had. The coating was very hard and the calamari was super chewy. I called to complain and I was told to bring the food back... HOW ABSURB to request to bring the food back once I had gotten home. The manager could have refund my card. It wasn't the only thing I ordered. The kung pao shrimp was decent... I recall the shrimp being bigger. I don't have a photo of the king pao shrimp because since I could not eat my salt and pepper calamari... Hoshun for a happy hour win. I was in the mood for some egg drop soup and I really enjoy Hoshun's especially the crunchies they really set it off when they're fresh. To my surprise I caught the happy hour where the roads were only 4.50. now the soup isn't on happy hour but it's very affordable at $6 and you get a big portion. We ordered the salmon roll and the shrimp and avocado roll both delicious and made the order of course. We were seated fast and the server is very informative and letting us know there was only 10 minutes left for happy hour and gave us the menu so we didn't miss it. I recently went to Hoshun late on a Thursday evening with some friends after a work event. It was very busy so we were quickly seated and greeted by our waitress Shannon. She was fun and upbeat. If you get this PLEASE ASK FOR DUCK SAUCE OR SOMETHING.. Uptown Roll - 4/10.. idk why the roll was so big and the crab was falling out every time I tried to pick it up. The spicy mayo/eel sauce SAVED this roll. Treasure roll - 5/10.. Bland, and tasteless sushi.. the Eel sauce saved this one too. *BREAK* WE will not be back. For $70 I was very disappointed.. I was warmly greeted as I entered and asked for a menu. The menu offerings are primarily from different East Asian cuisines and is quite diverse. I ordered the Five-pepper Calamari and Hoshun Fried Rice with Crawfish. The cashier took my order and informed me it would take 15 minutes to be ready. I sat in the waiting area for a short moment, and soon my order was ready, which I took back to my room. The order was well-packaged, using quality plastic take-out containers and utensils. The Five-pepper Calamari was wonderful, perfectly fried and then stir-fried with onions, black pepper, green peppers, and red peppers. It came with a dipping sauce which I presume had chili pepper and another one to total five. Overall it was excellent. The Hoshun Fried Rice with crawfish was also wonderful, and is of better quality than that of a typical Americanized Chinese takeout, with a generous amount of crawfish tails in it. I loved that there was a TV nearby with scrolling images of some of their most popular menu items, as it definitely helped us make some food decisions. We ordered edamame, tuna tataki, a Metairie roll and a Haiku roll. Everything was delicious!! The tuna tataki was so fresh and had a nice kick. The rolls were equally fresh and the Haiku roll was bomb. The service was outstanding, the restaurant is lovely and is in a really great spot on Magazine.
