It was voted as the best Chinese restaurant in America for 2009. Although the ranking maybe a little suspect it nonetheless indicates the sophistication of the food. It is the best Asian fusion I have ever eaten and beats anything in NYC and San Francisco. The combination of spices and sauces with Asian foods, the excellent preparation and the friendly staff creates a winner. It definitely is the best Asian restaurant in Fairfield County. The food is C- at best. I wouldn't even consider this Asian food. It's more like Asian fusion but a pretty bad version of one. But the service really topped off the night. We were chatting after our dinner and the manager who has been serving us comes over and says "Are you done? I don't mean to rush you..." If you are not rushing us then why did you just say ask us that question?? Plus there were two other EMPTY tables same size as ours next to ours. We will not be going back needless to say. read more

We've been to Ching's Table several times and have never been disappointed. Slightly upscale Asian cuisine, a few bucks more than cheap take-out but not unreasonably priced considering the location, ambiance and quality of the food. Miso soup ($4) was great, Crisp Calamari Salad ($10) wasn't all that crisp, but was a very tasty salad big enough to share (and it came with serving tongs and separate plates to make the point). Noodles (Chicken Lo Mein and Pad Thai) were both very good. Wok Grilled Garlic Shrimp ($18) was tasty but could have used a bit more garlic and spice. Caramelized Sesame Chicken with sauteed longbeans (15.50) was extra-crispy and tasty. Food presentation was very nice - everything looks as good as it tastes. No beer on tap but plenty of bottled choices. Very friendly and attentive staff. They have take-out, but I'd pass because you pay the same price and lose the benefit of the decor and friendly staff. Ching's Table rates a solid four stars - I'd question the motives and/or authenticity of anyone who drops a single star. read more

Best Chinese/Asian inspired food in NYC area. If you're looking for authentic Chinese, then go elsewhere. However, I would pick this place for "Asian" food any day. All white meat sesame chicken is impossible to find and theirs is excellent (crispy, served with green beans). Also hands down my favorite chicken lettuce wraps appetizer and my husband loves the duck stir fry fajitas. Dining room could use a refresh though. Definitely recommend for the food. read more

We moved from Greenwich to New Canaan last year and this is the first place we ate at - actually it was on move day! We love this place. A cut above the requisite Chinese joint. I don't consider myself a connoisseur of Asian cuisine... but I've had my share of Chinese takeout and pricey Manhattan Asian cuisine (Ginger's or Saigon grill). That said, this place ranks only a few notches above a good takeout restaurant in my opinion. My meal of choice is Pad Thai... and their take on this dish is spicy, not sweet... and rather bland, not tangy. Thai Spice and Papaya Thai (both in Norwalk) serve killer Pad Thai, so I was hoping for something on par. I was a little disappointed. Ching's has a great atmosphere, pretty good food and so-so service. I can't say this place is a must-go, but if you're looking for a nice night out it would be a good choice. read more

While the food is good, even very good. We have had multiple issues with gluten free items. On items that we ordered for take out they have repeatedly given us the wrong item or identified an item as gluten free then was told it did contain gluten the next time we ordered it. This has happened at least 6 different times. We would have an issue, not return for awhile then try again a few months later only to get the same results. We are done at this point trying. Buyer beware, this is not a restaurant that takes gluten free issues seriously. read more

This place seems to finally have found a name that stuck and is working. After several different versions of the same restaurant this one has been around for a while. The food is very good, its American Chinese food. The service is unremarkable but nothing to complain about. I've gotten take out from this place three times, each time a $50 order. Usually 2 or 3 apps and 1 or 2 main courses or noodles. The staff is very professional and the place runs well. The young woman who answers the phone is patient, knowledgeable, proficient and polite. Our orders are always correct, packaged well and timely. This is a well run place. My disappointment is with the food, it's pedestrian at best. Chicken dish was over cooked, hard, tasted old & burnt. Went to the trash. The ribs were so old looking they went straight to the trash. The fried calamari salad was the same salad mix I can buy at the supermarket with a bottled chemically thickened dressing. The calamari was the only item that was fresh and cooked correctly. In fact all the sauces we have received from them are commercial bottled types. We have ordered dumplings twice, both times they have been burnt and awful looking. To their credit after we removed the burnt parts the filling was tasty. Although the chicken dumplings are seasoned with sage & poultry seasoning like a thanksgiving stuffing mix. Odd at best, completely confusing at a Chinese restaurant. How do I know these things, I'm a restaurant owner & chef for the last 25 years. I read the other reviews and surprisingly most are good. I would not have written such a bad review if this was a one time event, but three takeout orders all the same poor quality almost inedible old food, I felt I must let others know. read more

I have had dinner many many times at Ching's table, as i live in new canaan, but i have to say, i have never been treated so rudely by a waiter, as I was last night having dinner at Chings. I sat down with a friend and we had been shopping so weren't that hungry, ordered 4 appitizers though and cocktails. We ran into some friends that sat at the next table to us and began talking as we ate. At least 4 times the waiter came to us and asked if we were ready to order our main course, we told him several times we were only ordering the apps, but they all came out at different times and were cold, rice never came until we asked for it at the end. He made a mistake on our order and when we corrected him he got mad. after about 30 minutes he told us we had to leave as they were waiting for tables to open up for other guests. We were not even finished with our shrimp and rice and i had a whole glass of wine to finish. we ate as fast as we could and pounded down our wine and left. needless to say, we left a very small tip and wrote on the ticket that the waiter was rude. I've been here so many times! Mango shrimp is my family's go to. Dad likes the fire wok too. Dumplings and spring rolls are always tasty. Sometimes it is a little inconsistent but we enjoy this place so much it's okay with me. The salmon salad is really good,nice texture and dressing. Ching's used to be a delicious sure-bet (a 4 or 5 star!), but it has gone down hill. We've been underwhelmed with our past two experiences. This food was so bad. I have had plenty of good asian food in my life and will never be walking into this place again. I ordered the Pad Thai and was beyond disappointed-- just a complete lack of flavor, no salt, no acid, burnt vegetables... what a waste of $15. My friend order the sesame chicken, which was so dry. The waiter also sucked-- never checked up on us except to bring us the food and check. Definitely the kind of place that cuts corners on good ingredients and proper cooking b/c they know they'll still pull in a profit that covers their operating costs. The food is a modern take on a traditional style. In so doing, the chef takes a risk for a little extra flair, AND. HE. NAILS. IT. We had the hot and sour soup, it was light, not too oily, perfectly seasoned, just the right level of spiciness, and full of fresh ingredients. This is a 9/10 dish. A classic, flawlessly executed. Next was crispy coconut shrimp with a mango sauce. The flavors came together so well, the textures were splendid, the seafood cooked so perfectly. We couldn't get enough. This is a 10/10 dish, I've never had anything like it. Entree number one was the Fire Wok - it's a hot pot style dish with a very generous helping of scallops, lobster tails, and shrimp with a thai style curry. The seafood was all fresh and perfectly cooked, the mushrooms, green beans, and japanese eggplant absorbed the curry flavor really well. It was creamy but not too creamy. I give this an 8.5/10. So good, hearty and full of flavor. Second entree was the chilean sea bass with black bean sauce, I believe it was also a special. This was another amazing combination of textures and flavors - you can tell someone back there is really thinking carefully about how unique flavors combine to be more than the sum of their parts. And for such an expensive meat to come in such a healthy portion, well let's just say this appetite was satiated. 10/10 Dessert: mango pudding. This was a great way to end the meal, sweet but not too sweet. It didn't blow me away, but it was exactly what I wanted to finish the show. If I'm honest, probably a 7/10 dish. Perfectly good, but not a jaw-dropper like the chilean sea bass or the shrimp. The entrees were about $20 a pop, the app was $15, etc. The prices weren't cheap, it's a bargain when you consider how good that darn food is. Sit outside too if it's nice! read more

I would give Ching's Table 6 stars if they had it. We came for dinner on Sunday the 8th of January and decided to have Crispy Duck, Peking Duck and Duck Fried Rice... all were truly awesome. The Duck is easily as fantastic as the best duck you would find in Chinatown in NYC. I have been going to NYC for Duck for a long time, and am so happy to find such a great place to go for it here in New Canaan. The staff were friendly, it was toasty warm inside even though it was in the really cold outside, and the price was really reasonable even though I opted for a split of Champagne (Mumm Napa) which I recommend.
