General Tso's with White Rice Combination Dinner Platter
    Ben S.

We've always said that you should never mess with your Chinese order. Find a place you like, find the dishes you like. Order them every time and you'll never be disappointed. Deviate on the location or order and your bound for problems. So for us we were a bit skeptical going into things. I easily ordered over the phone on a Friday night and was told 30 minutes. This was much shorter than expected but I figured maybe they weren't that busy since they were new and arrived exactly in 30 minutes. The restaurant was bright, clean and spacious, but almost a little too large and sparsely decorated. No big deal as they are brand new and eventually will settle in. There were a few people in the restaurant waiting but I was able to go right to the counter and pay, but told that my food wasn't ready yet so I sat in one of the booths and waited. Unfortunately I ended up waiting about 35 minutes (so over an hour total). As I waited a number of other people came in, waited and got their food. I get it they are still getting used to things and have no problem waiting an hour on a Friday night, just wish they'd told me it would take 45 min to an hour. Got the food home and was excited to unpack it all. We got three dinner combination platters (including egg rolls), all solid. The crab rangoons were much better than our normal place, the fried pork dumplings not as good. We liked that they had the Thai options so hot chicken pad thai instead of our usual lo mein which was a nice change of pace. Everything had a very light taste to it - not heavy or greasy at all which was awesome. Overall I can't say we won't ever go to our normal place, but I could definitely see us needing to have a discussion as to where to order from in the future. Good luck Fortune House!

Stopped by for a late lunch…read more Open floor. No one was there seated, but it was around 2pm on a Friday. We were led to a table against the wall. Waiter was friendly and gave us some time to make our selections. I chose the egg roll, tangerine beef. Hubby chose the orange chicken. I asked the waiter if the soda came in a can. He said yes. We then waited for our meal. He returned quickly with my soda, in a glass with lots of ice. Not what I expected. But I guess I wasn't specific about my drink order. My egg roll was good. Cut decoratively in half at an angle, piping hot. Our food arrived shortly. Both plates were generous and came with white rice. Cut a portion in small pieces to taste with rice. Tasted so good, burned my tongue a little it was so hot. Ate a bit more, and that's when my mouth started burning up! The dish was a little more spicy than I expected. Tried to eat more, but it was too much for me. My hubby on the other hand was in his glory. He Loves heat. The spiciest the better. He tried mine and said it was just as spicy as his, which he loved. So, I just thought we would take mine home for him to enjoy later. I have to say it was good, before I had to cry uncle. So would definitely have to return for another try and let them know I can't take the spiciness. I did notice that the restaurant was busy with takeout orders. So I guess that's their main business. So I wouldn't say this was a cozy place. But the food is good. Lots of parking outside since they're next to a supermarket and liquor store. There weren't any 'lunch' specials, so this was over $50 with tip. By the way, lots to choose from the menu. I only took pictures of some pages.

I got the Pho with duck, and my wife got the crispy duck dinner. Both dishes were "meh" at best. Below average. As far as service... it was harried and we were only one of two couples eating in this "NOT so cozy" restaurant. We went at 5:30 expecting to wait because it was small and "cozy" and it was Chinese New year. (1) no problem eating in during dinner hours (2) not a stitch of celebratory anything for Chinese New Year.. not even a place mat. No chinese noodles at the table and there was one continuous plain bench and brown tables (no table cloths) on the opposite side aka cafe style and cafeteria style seats. Hardly "cozy" at all. Overall high expectations, below average experience, ambiance and food.

So yum!!!! Top 3 thai spots for me…read more Food- Classic order of Pad Thai & Drunken Noodles. The pad thai noodles are a big thinner than i've had before but that didn't bother me, it has such great flavor too. I recommend ordering it spicy, it's the perfect heat if you're looking for that kick but don't add it if you can't handle spice. The drunken noodles are not spicy in my opinion but i can handle a bit of heat. Loved the flavor and the noodles had the right texture, could've done without the huge chunks of tomato but great otherwise. The summer rolls were good, hard to mess those up. We also got a free mango salad with the order and that was so fresh and delicious. We just popped in for pick up but the hostess was really nice and attentive as soon as we walked in. It looked to be a nice casual spot, could be good for dinner with friends or date night.

Pad Krapoa Moo Krob, the meat on the pork belly was so juicy - the pork skin was crunchy and chewy at the same time, flavors of Thai spice, basil, and bell peppers harmoniously working together to bring a balanced meal. The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious, a great alternative if you're not feeling the crab fried rice. The service at Obao is always prompt and helpful, whether it's questions about the menu or recommendations, anyone is willing to help. Inside Oboa is dimly lit, a moody vibe that is fun and invites playful conversations.

Totally worth it and a really great way to spend a Thursday evening. Service is always kind, I tend to go in a small group with the intention of chatting, hanging out, and eating a few bites while we wait for trivia to start. We get in well before trivia so we never have issues with seating, but it starts to fill up as 7 rolls around! The chive bites are a showstopper--my friends and I almost always do 2 orders or more, and we love the sauce and dip everything else in it as well. The boneless wings are delicious and not a bar's typical "chicken nugget"-esque wing, but rather a really great fried bite. Their lemon drop is $6 during happy hour, so how could I not pick that as my drink of choice? And their spicy basil udon with chicken or tofu is delicious every time. Last night when I was there, the owner, Michael, gave us our shots for coming 3rd place in trivia and he was super pleasant! The whole place seems to have tons of events (like a Survivor watchparty night I'd love to catch!!) and just the best vibe ever. Pride flags are abound and it's a really great spot. Worth stopping by! I came for the trivia but found myself wanting to come to do more trivia just to get those happy hour appetizers and that spicy basil udon :)
