Had my husband take my car in for a smog check. Called first to find out if they had a waiting room because I was going to take it in during my lunch break from work. So I want to go to a place where someone can safely handle my car, give me a fair price, and not give me any bullshit in between. The only place I've found is Chino Auto Tech. My whole family goes here, because the mechanics don't try to upsell down your throat, they won't exaggerate the problems with your vehicle, and they give decent advice regarding care of makes and models of a certain car. And if they're working on my car, they get the job done thoroughly in a reasonable amount of time. I was a last second "omg I need to get my car smog checked so I can get it registered" kind of customer, and I gave this place 4 stars because the initial greeting wasn't very welcoming. I get that if I call ahead my wait time would be shorter (never even complained about the wait), but not everyone's schedule is ideal enough to call ahead. So the greeting that I got was "if you had called ahead I would know right now if we can service your car, but now you have to wait and ask Joe what he can do for you". Ok ... A little off putting but I've had worse customer service. My day was more like "My dentist appointment ended early?! I have some time let's do this!" So being squeezed in for service was great. Ok let's talk about Joe ... He was absolutely wonderful! He over guesstimated the wait time, but delivered wonderful service in less than 20 minutes. Because of him I will more than likely be back. This is my second visit here. First visit, I needed a smog check for my Mini. It took 30 mins. Second visit was today. I needed a smog check for my Pilot. It took 2 hours because it needed repair. I took my car to Chino Auto Tech last week for the 100,000 mile service. Instead of doing the service they charged me $25 dollars and told me that some of the services may be covered by the dealership. They gave me a report approximately 50 page. When I showed the report to the dealer they were impressed at the report and said "These people know what they are doing". Part of the 100k service is changing belts and spark plugs. The dealership covered about $1,200.00 worth of work for free. Chino Auto Tech could of provided the requested service and I would of never know. They are very ethical and honest. Took my car there for a free 40 point inspection offered to AAA members. I talked to Jim who was reluctant to do it, so I told him it was overheating due to a possible blown head gasket, at which point he said it would be a $50 diagnostic fee. I agreed & left the car. 2 days later, I listened to several voice mails from a # I didn't recognize & it wasn't the shops # which I was expecting. When I called the shop, I wasn't given a specific reason for the overheating & told that if I didn't pick the car up that day, I would be charged $35/ day for storage. Such a waste of time & money. These guys are very professional, experts in knowledge and overall good guys. I just got a used car 2 days ago and a hose came loose. I would have fixed it myself but I don't like going under a jacked up car. I had it towed to them and they attached it with no charge except for coolant. Really, who provides that level if service these days? So, since I saved money on my hose service I had them do a full oil change at a very reasonable price. BMW would have charged me almost double. They used full synthetic and the proper coolant for my car. It wasn't a "let's see what we have on-hand" just to get it done. I will definitely be using them again whenever I have a need. Great price but more importantly is they're honest. That alone makes it worth more to me than the good price. Plus, they all seem like very good, decent, and honest folk. I took a car here a few years ago for a "new car check" - cost me $311. They passed the car. A few weeks later the engine failed and I had to replace the engine to the tune of $4,500 - they found metal filings in the engine. Why did Chino Autotech not find them? Jim and Jan were so rude unreal. Made me feel awful, that I did not know about my cars myself. What is their job then? Very pricey and that was the estimate. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Jim talked to me worse than any other business owner has ever talked to me in all 55 years of life! Got my car repaired at another local place, was treated so nicely. I have told a number of women esp do not take their cars to place where they could be treated so rudely. They thanked me, and said they heard the same thing, but were unsure. I know a lot of people in this town, and have told many of them, esp if they need car repair. STAY AWAY. This shop hides and inflates charges. I took my car to this shop for an estimate for repairs. When I received the estimate, I found out they had doubled the price of the parts they were going to use. I literally bought the parts for half of what they were going to charge me and had my car fixed elsewhere. They will charge you double the price. They chargd me for the free estimate! I submitted mu vehicle for a fuel filter exchange because it was leaking gas. I requested for the old part because they advised me that the fuel filter I had did not fit properly. I believed them. When I asked for the old part their reaction is I never told them so I felt I was being swindled. I checked the service and took it to a mechanic and found out it was the same filter I had on it and the only thing they did was reinsert a fuel line back. Now, i am out 250 dollars. They have no honesty in what they call integrity. They are like any mechanic finding ways on how to screw over any patron. I've been to Chino Auto Tech about 4 times. I was impressed from the very first visit. The first time I went my car was leaking power steering fluid. I went to the shop about 20 minutes before they closed and asked if they could just put some fluid in it so I could get home. They were kind enough to do so and also advise me that the hose needed to be replaced. They took the time put in the fluid and bleed the system and sent me on my way, no charge. I returned the next week to have the hose replaced. They told me the pump might need to be replaced and sure enough, not long after this repair the pump went out. I went back to them for the pump replacement. It wasn't long before something else was leaking from my car. Again, I bolted over about 20 minutes before they closed and they were again nice enough to take the time to check it out. While the tech was looking at the car Jan was thoughtful enough to ask me what my plan B was the vehicle was not drivable. I told her I would have to rent a car. She got on the phone right away and called Enterprise and let them know I might need a car. Once the need for repair was confirmed she called them back and let them know I was on my way over. She had one of the employees drive me to Enterprise to pick up the car. Every time I have gone there they have had someone drive me down the street to work and I was just so impressed that anyone cared enough to know how I was getting home or wherever else I was going. A lot of places will barely let you use their phone to call someone to come and pick you up. Now, let me say I don't know enough about cars to know what prices are good and fair and whether or not I am being gouged at Auto tech but to be honest with you they are so thoughtful and professional that I almost would not care if I was paying too much. But really and seriously based on how they conduct their business and how they treat the customer I would doubt very seriously if they were being unfair or unscrupulous with their pricing. I also appreciate that when they look at your car they are thorough and let you know what is going on and what else may need attention. I used to take the car to another shop in the same business center as Auto Tech and they would basically fix whatever was the exact problem when you came in. So, if a hose was leaking they would replace the hose but not bother to tell you that the hose right next to it was cracked and crumbling; that sort of thing. After two visits I stopped going there and started going to AAA recommended Chino Auto Tech. Unless I have some unforeseen poor experience (or am blessed with a car that is NOT a lemon) I will probably keep going back. read more

My two cars have been serviced by Autotech for the past two years. I initially went for service based on the reviews on Yelp and I continue to return due to the quality of their work, customer service and honesty. My father is an auto mechanic and has always serviced my cars in the past however due to a serious health condition he is no longer able too. With that said I am very cautious with who services my cars and worry that the mechanic will try to take advantage. Autotech is very clear with what the car needs and the cost. They have done the brakes, smog test, replacement of the battery and front struts on my cars. There was a time that I thought the brakes needed to be replaced on my second car and after inspection I was informed they did not need to be replaced yet. Everyone in the office is great. I will continue to return for all of my car needs. I highly recommend Autotech! read more
