The staff are nice and are trying hard, but a few things have changed the value of this restaurant. Portions keep getting smaller and prices have gone up. They've eliminated some tasty options, like that plant-based chorizo, which was delicious! Lately, all the meats are dry and overcooked. Sometimes, I'm not getting my order the way it was specified--i.e., beans, no beans, etc. The last 3 or 4 meals I've had have been with dry, tasteless meat, and that's not good. Once again, I am so use to mediocre service that I overlook a lot of things that probably should be an issue but how can a Mexican restaurant exists without taco shells? I have visited this establishment 9 times since opening day and on all 9 occasions I'm told they are out of hard taco shells. Please keep in mind they opened on 11/20/2016. On my last visit on 12/08/2026, once again "OUT OF HARD TACO SHELLS"....does this Mexican restaurant know that hard taco shells are a staple to the Mexican menu. I spoke with the supervisor who responded in a very lackluster attitude, "they are out" and a oh well shrug of his shoulders....with this attitude it's no wonder this restaurant has the slowest service ever!!!! I don't usually review Chipotle locations but it randomly popped up on my yelp page and I felt the need to chime in. I have had completely different experiences the handful of times I've been to this specific location compared to my fellow yelpers. If anything it's the fastest moving Chipotle I've ever been to regardless of when I'm there. In my experience the staff are taco/burrito/bowl ninjas. Granted I always get the same thing and tastes just like any other Chipotle. Back to their speediness - I am in line and out of this place in less than three minutes tops every time. Consistent but not amazing. Which honestly I think all Chipotles across the country haven't been amazing in the last two years so complaints may be more of a corporate thing. Anyways! This is the most inconsistent chipotle I've ever been. They also get orders wrong EVERY single time. Its an online order from THEIR APP! How can you get that wrong?! It's been open for a while now, you would think they figured out a system to better serve their customers. I was so excited to have a chipotle close to home. I've been twice and both times have been a disaster. The first time I ordered online, picked up and when I got home realized I had paid for 2 bags of chips I never received and the orders were wrong. I just tried a second time and at 8:45 pm [they close at 10 pm] they were out of chips and salad dressing. How are you going to sell me a salad and not have any dressing. I've worked in fast food, I know that they had the ingredients its really that the high school students were lazy towards the end of their shift. This was supported by the fact that the empty restaurant was filthy too. There's a much better chipotle off of Baltimore Ave [Route 1] thats a few more minutes, but worth the drive. How can they mess up Chiptole? One of the most simple basic concepts, yet the whole line was horrible. This place needs new management and new employees. Communication between the employee was as if they were speaking different language. Employee on the line asked the prep to bring more chicken about four times but simply couldn't do it. Other employee was spilling food all over the place yet wasn't cleaning it up making it the dirtiest Chiptole experience ever. Every other location I've been to would clean up immediately after a spill. Owner of this location would be in disbelief if they saw how their employee was running this place. Idk what's going on at the carry-out counter, because not only are the workers there a little slow at times, but they add sooo much of one Ingredient, like they will drown your bowl in lettuce or salsa and it will drown everything else out, it's a little ridiculous . Its hard to believe in 2018 I have never been in a Chipotle, but it's true. Walked in to the Maple Lawn location to pick up for (not for myself) Saturday 3/11/17 @ around 2:15pm. No body else was in line but me, so she had no excused to be "weeded". (Restaurant term for over-whelmed). I am obviously reading the order off my phone: Chipotle Employee #1: 1.) I was first to greet the young lady behind the counter. "Hi, how is it going?." No common courtesy was reciprocated. 2.) Keep in mind, I obviously look like I have never been inside a Chipotle before, I was the only one in line, and just making a food run request. I was sent to pick up 1 chicken bowl, but thought I'd get one for myself since I was there. "2 chicken bowls please". Then she ask me what kind of meat? I am pretty confused at this point b/c I thought I asked for "2 chicken bowls", so I ask "is it extra for meat?". Her response was "no, its included". If there was no extra cost, I might as well get some additional steak on mine. Did not realize until I got home that neither had chicken in it. Overall the food was cold and the rice was undercooked and hard. 3.) Employee #1 quickly disappeared in the back as soon as the aluminium led was sealed. I GET IT, I APOLOGIZE FOR ASKING YOU TO DO YOUR JOB. I WAS NOTHING BUT PLEASANT TO YOU EMPLOYEE #1, CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE AT THE DOOR WHEN YOU COME TO WORK. Everything was great! Employees were friendly. Only docked a star because they did not reinforce our bags (one flimsy bag PACKED with bowls and burritos) and the bottom of the bag fell apart as I was driving home (made a mess in the car)! It was all good, and I was still able to enjoy my Chipotle because they PACKED my bowl! Just make sure you take some precautions. Also - online ordering is a little slow. I online ordered and was given a pickup time of 8:15. I walked in to the counter at 8:25 and after waiting for two customers to be rang up the cashier went and FOUND my order receipt. I then had to WAIT for them to make my bowl. I watched as they sloppily THREW my ingredients into the container. Turn off. I get out to the car and check my order and they've left off an item I ordered. I went back and informed the employee of their error. She offered to give it to me on the side. I asked to speak to the manager. The employee had to ask the "manager" THREE times before he would come address me. This Chipotle did poorly with our App order. Two burritos were the thinnest we've ever seen. Green salsa was missing in one of our burritos (very dry to eat). Our 3rd order the burrito bowl had the skimpiest amount of wilted lettuce. We've NEVER had such problems ordering from two other Columbia locations. Staff are not friendly and as far as hygiene are very poorly trained. I can understand why people get sick at chipotle for example the person making my food literally before putting the lid on my container actually cleaned the counter with her hands with the same gloves she used prepare my food. Slowest chipotle ever. Plus, they mixed up the order of the meals which caused confusion. And when I asked them to open up the two containers, they claimed they couldn't because they didn't have gloves on! So frankly, they wanted me to just take some other meal by mistake. Why is no one at the company paying attention to this place. I ordered on their website for delivery. An item was missing so I called them. Was told I'd have to come in to get the item. I said the reason I paid for delivery is that I didn't want to come in. I asked for a manager and she said she was. Our most recent to go order was ICE COLD. Something in it - rice of beans - was clearly refrigerated and they forgot to heat it up. Oh my goodness - nothing is worse than ice cold chipotle. I couldn't heat it up because it had guacamole, sour cream, and lettuce; I tossed it and now the thought of chipotle turns my stomach. We waited so long for a Maple Lawn chipotle and it just isn't living up to the Chipotle name. How could they serve cold food? That just seems incomprehensible. Please fix things here!
