We are not very experienced with the way things are done at Chipotle, and the staff acted kind of pushy and rude towards us. The only way carry your oder to your table is to have it bagged, no trays. Signs on windows state dining room is closed. We went in to order, and people were eating inside. We were told we can not order in person, and no food was in the trays behind the glass serving area. This location has been full of double standards and odd rules since covid started, and needs new management. Sadly disappointed by this Chipotle location yet again. Never had Qdoba before, and the manager at Qdoba said he has had alot of people from Chipotle come over, and he took good care of us, as we were able to enjoy ordering in person and sitting down as a family to eat. One dedicated qdoba staff member was just walking around with cleaner and rags, keeping on top of cleaning. This is an example of how Chipotle used to be. This was absolutely the most disgusting chipotle I have ever been to. I travel weekly for work and visit chipotles all over the US and have never seen one this bad. Every table in the dining area was dirty. The trash was over flowing. They were out of guacamole, steak, white rice and sour cream which are major menu items. Let me just tell you: after years of enduring AWFUL Chipotle locations in Columbus, Ohio I was in HEAVEN at this location! It was so clean, the staff was extremely friendly, the ingredients were fresh, my steak wasn't a salty mess. The burrito was rolled beautifully and my bowl was perfectly proportioned. The black beans weren't runny. And the guacamole had just run out and been replaced with a fresh batch and it was almost as good as my own, homemade guac. (Almost.) Lazy whole-foods, plant-based dieters unite! The guac was always clutch (yes, I know it's extra) and then the pinto beans became "animal friendly" more recently. Truly a dream come true now that they feature sofritas - organic shredded tofu braised with chipotle chilis, poblano peppers, and 'aromatic spices' - in other words: bippity boppity boo! - because the finished product is magical and will make you wish they delivered in a pumpkin horse drawn carriage (note the aforementioned laziness - a girl can dream, right?). And on to the staff...the welcoming, personable, efficient, talented, and helpful people they pay to get shit done - and done well. Really well. Stupendously well if you ask me. (You did ask me, didn't you?) They know what they're doing and I like to tell them that. You should consider telling them that, too, if you just so happen to agree. I was a big fan of Chipotle a few years ago when they first came to town. Unfortunately the quality of their food, particularly their meat, has slipped to the point where I have vowed never to return. First the steak started getting more and more fatty then it was cooked rarer and rarer. When I went in for lunch today, the steak was so rare that blood was dripping from it. It looked like it had been seared 15 seconds on each side before being cut. If you're a vegetarian then I'm sure the food is still fine for you, but personally I feel safer eating almost anywhere else. read more

I go to this one pretty often. I don't write a lot of negative reviews but I saw the main manager there and she seemed to not care, so I had to write something. I came in for a chicken salad. I asked for double meat and there was barely enough for a single portion ready. The worked called back to the person in the grill for more but he did another task instead of cutting up the chicken, so I waited. This was right before lunch and within a minute, more people came in (I sort of think they weren't expecting people to come in for lunch... which is strange). The person in the grill completed his previous task and then finally started cutting the chicken as I patiently waited. I've worked in food service before, so I get what it's like. Meanwhile, the line starts growing behind me. The chicken is finally ready and they complete my salad. I'm ready to pay but the cashier is gone. Another employee came in and walked behind me in line (instead of going around, through the seating, which I thought was strange) and I think the cashier was busy talking with that person. The person on the line called for the cashier again and she finally showed up. There was no apology for anything and really no urgency at all to take care of my order. The manager saw me there and she didn't apologize or even give me an update or ask any employee to hurry up. It's clear that they're telling us they don't care here. That's the message they are clearly sending. The guacamole was REALLY salty, too. Too salty to eat, really. I put it aside. Oh yeah, I paid extra for that, too. Nice. Nice work there. If I had the cash, I'd open up another Chipotle near by to compete with this one. My store would easily kick butt on this one because they simply don't care... at all. read more

Stopped in here for a quick lunch while traveling and it was just bad from the beginning. Walked in and every table was dirty. No one looked like they knew what they were doing, everyone looked miserable to be there. Would have been nice if we were told they were out of salad dressing before they prepared our salads. An employee was arguing and rolling her eyes with who I assume to be the manager, right in front of everyone. I watched a line pile up to the door while one person was making everyones food, another employee swept the floor and another one was writing in some book on a food prep station. Then I watched a girl grab a cup of meat and eat it while she was in front of customers. Super unprofessional all around and would NEVER come back. i agree with Steven T.'s review, in that there aren't many differences in locations of Chipotles. but i do enjoy this location much better than the location on State St here in Madison, but it is what it is. State St is full of ruckus college kids (it seems like it doesn't matter what time of the day or year it is), and this one is just much cleaner and more friendly. as always, the food is always fresh, and i enjoy the ethical food-supply thing they have going on. so, you like it or you don't. i'm not going to try to convince you that chipotle is better than Qdoba (but it is), nor am i going to get all drooly about how much better tasting it is than Panchero's (but it is), either way, i'll eat at a Chipotle any day, and i'll enjoy the hell out of it, thank you very much. read more

We stopped here yesterday, July 15th and everything about this place was bad. Just walking in the door, before ordering, I could tell the workers were not happy. During ordering there was no eye contact, no smiles, they both looked pissed. The pico de gayo looked like just tomatoes, no flavor at all. The sour cream and guacamole was just plopped on top of the Luke warm meat, beans, and rice. When I asked if we could do juice instead of milk the lady replied, no, we don't have juice. Do not go here. My daughter had been recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and, we were excited to try Chipotle, as we were told that they accommodate for Celiac, beautifully. We were traveling and there are little options for celiac-friendly, so, we were starving and couldn't wait to get to Madison. We were met with an extremely unenthusiastic young woman who looked at me with dead eyes every time I asked a question. The cook was wearing his mask half off. The place was dirty and uninviting. When I told her my daughter has Celiac and this was all new to us, I asked for the gluten-free corn taco shells. She said they didn't have them because "they didn't make them that morning." They also didn't have guac! I had also asked her to please change gloves to avoid cross-contamination (a common practice for celiac-friendly claiming restaurants). She did this, but, then proceeded to wipe her newly gloved hands all over the counter - completely defeating the purpose of changing them in the first place. I asked if the chips were gluten-free. She said she didn't know and then just stared at me. I asked her to ask management and explained that this isn't just a gluten free trend. My daughter could get really sick if she has gluten - that her body attacks her intestines if she has even a piece of gluten. She went to ask. She came back and said the chips are not GF. By then, I had already looked it up on Chipotle's website and it said they WERE GF, so, I asked her to doublecheck. The manager came out, super unfriendly, and said "They are NOT gluten free." When I told him that the website says they are, he looked like I hurt his ego and said, "Well, uhhh, we all make them different. It depends on how we make them. I don't think they're gluten free," and walks away. It honestly seemed like he had no idea, was embarrassed to be called out and didn't care whether he got me the right answer. They then hand me an allergen card that says the chips ARE gluten free. Ugh! Besides piling on ingredients that I asked for "a little of," the rest of my interaction with that young woman was not bad. After I pay, I go to get plasticware. There isn't any out. Instead, there's a sign saying to ask staff for plasticware, with a picture of a pre-packaged set of utensils and napkin. O.k. Covid. I get it. But, then, they should be handing it out at the register, right? By the time I came back, the people behind the counter were already helping other guests. Why make people go through this extra step? There were several others, including the manager, who were moving around near the register and ignoring me for at least a minute - I mean, eye contact and walk away, ignoring me. When the manager finally asks what I need, I tell him I need forks. He reaches back, grabs some spoons that have grease all over them and says, blankly, "We only have spoons." Also, no ice in the soda machine. I had completely lost my appetite by then and barely ate. When an entire restaurant of employees appear to have absolutely no work ethic and look absolutely miserable to be at work, you have to wonder how hygienic and safe the food is. It was horribly run. I really don't like to make scenes, or inconvenience people. I should have said something while I was there, but, I honestly didn't think anyone would even care if there was a dissatisfied customer. I give people the benefit of the doubt on a regular basis, but, this was beyond horrible. Knowing the great service we've had in the past at the Chipotles near us, we will continue to frequent Chipotle - just not this one. read more

My husband and I have been going to this location at least once a month during CoVID. It is usually busy with in store orders and called-in orders. We were surprised when we drove up and noticed that it wasn't busy at all. When we walked in we noticed an entirely different team of staff. The woman who took our order was not friendly and sharply asked what we wanted. My husband is from Mexico but has lived in the Midwest US for 25 years. He has a slight accent but easily understandable. The staff member acted like she couldn't understand him and made him repeat everything several times. She understood me but aggressively scooped ingredients from the steam table containers and plopped them in the shells. Another staff person came up and finished my order less aggressively but gave me half sized portions. I ordered guacamole, which costs $2.25. There was only 2 tablespoons at the most. She had given the customer ahead of us double portions because the customer seemed to know her and told her to put a lot on. When I reached the register I was surprised to see a tip jar. I usually look for one because I want to tip but they don't have one. In contrast to all other trips to restaurants I did not tip. We won't be back to this location ever again. Went to this Chipotle again over the weekend and people were in the store and dining in the store when signs advertise the dining room is closed. Tried to order in person and was told that you can get it thru a food service on the apps. There was no food in the serving trays, behind the usual glass wall where you get your order made. The staff was dismissive and rude that we can make an online order and wait for it. When you are going out as a family, to eat a meal as a family, you don't want to order online and eat in your car, or take it home to eat. As we were leaving, someone across the lot suggested qdoba, tell them you had a problem and they will take good care of you. All 4 of us did just that. 3 People fed for 21$ from qdoba. The qdoba manager was excellent and asked about our adventure. He stated this has been an ongoing problem for him, that he is getting all the overflow from his competitions bad service. The food is great but how come you don't fill my bowl. In fact, at my most recent visit, I asked for them to fill my bowl. The response wasn't a polite and curteous one, it was an informative and rude to me as a customer. They did proceed to fill my bowl but the proportions were way off. The guy behind the counter said that I received the correct amount but my buddy got a different amount than me, so which is right? I love Chipotle and their food is usually really fresh and tasty, but this location is a little lacking, mostly due to the staff. There's a younger worker making burritos who was really rude and impatient. He didn't let the tortillas toast longer than 3 seconds and the ingredients were very disproportionate, meaning I got very little rice, but entire mouthfuls of only shredded cheese. This is the first time I've ever been compelled to leave an online review because I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt that even if I receive poor service, it is just the result of an off day. However, besides the person running the register, this was the worst service ive experienced. By all appearances the staff could not have cared less about any of the customers. The staff member making the burrito was leaning over all of the food to the point that her chest was smashing into the food. The service was slow, and they were out of many options because no one was on the grill. When asked when something might be ready, the response was an annoyed "I don't know". The fruit we got for our kids' meal was moldy. Just an overall very disappointing experience with no clear leadership during this shift. Hopefully it was just a bad day. read more

Chipotle is always a go to when we travel. This one just did not have its' act together. No tea was prepared. They did bring some tea out before we left but it was too strong and we already had finished eating. The floor was dirtyish and they had converted the one working bathroom to a unisex restroom. My fiance and I were in town for Valentine's weekend. We decided on our way out of town that we would go to Chipotle...I was excited to go there, but that all changed once we got inside. I don't have anything against young people working in Chipotle or anywhere, in fact I am pleased to see them working, but what is EXTREMELY bothersome and annoying, is when I don't see a manager amongst any of them, and if there was a manager, they weren't in sight to make sure that the dining room was clean!!! Every single table was filthy! Clearly there was no one being attentive the the dining room and making sure it was clean!!! We were in there about 6:30pm. At that time, there were 3 people in the dining room, and a million people working in the kitchen. Honestly, you couldn't have someone go out in the dining room and take 2 seconds to clean off the surface of the tables?? There were a few people that turned around and walked out because it was dirty. One lady was like, "this place is so dirty, I'm out". This was not only annoying, but ridiculous!! The portions that were given were ridiculous!! I know full well there weren't scoopfulls of anything. I got charged extra because the girl clearly didn't know what she was doing. I said I wanted carne asada steak to begin with, and when I told her I just wanted the carne asada steak, she said, I'm sorry but you will have to be charged extra!! It was HER mistake!!! Rather than complain because there was a line full of people and I didn't want to be "THAT" guy, I just went on. Not to mention it seemed like this store was going through training. It looked like they were all scared. Having to repeat yourself a million times, it was just ridiculous!!I ordered a queso and chips as well. The chips were decent, but the queso was lukewarm, and it had a burnt taste, like the bottom of the was scalded. We probably won't be back!! This was not a good representation of Chipotle! I have never been to Chipotle before, and it's safe to say I will never go again. They met all my expectations in all the worst ways. When we first arrived we had to wait outside for 5 minutes after the restaurant was set to open, we stood outside in the cold as the employees sat and watched us stand in the cold. Once inside the employees continued their meals as we waited in line for them to be ready to make the food. Once the food was made and I got my fountain drink, come to find all of the sodas were watered down and it was clear they were not ready to be open.
