Wow, arrived at 9:05 PM on a Friday night and it seemed like they were getting ready to close. Salsas were being put away and the grill being cleaned. Weird. Anyway, placed my order and asked for 1/2 chicken and 1/2 steak. The manager, or lady who rang my friend and I out was very rude and was mumbling to the employees in Spanish about my order. From what I understood she was scolding them for giving us too much food. She ended up wrongfully charging us for double meat. Unfortunately I didn't noticed until after and really did not want to go through the hassle of dealing with the lady again over $2. The utensil/drink/salsa station was filthy! Trash overflowing, wet floor, and utensil cups empty. My bowl was terrible, no taste, lacked salt. I was full but not satisfied. Easily the worst Chipotle location I've been to, and I've been to many, including the one in Sterling which had the norovirus outbreak. LOL Long story short, I'd go back to the Sterling location before I ever give this location my business. This Chipotle is a solid 2 out of 5 stars. The food is ok, service is hit or miss and the chips are always stale. In order to get stale chips, leave them in the bags for days until customers buy them; SAD! This should be a very simple fix. Not sure what's going on with the queso dip; it's a thick, flour like paste that leaves a unusual after taste in your mouth. read more

I have to start by saying that chipotle is by far my favorite fast food chain so this review may be slightly bias. I live about half a mile from this location and I go here at least once or twice a week. While it very occasionally has its slip ups, I am generally very satisfied by the food and service. They typically give generous servings and are happy to add more of a certain ingredient if you just ask. I've made friends with some of the staff and they always remember me and are very friendly. Despite some of the negative reviews, I highly recommend coming here if you're looking for a quick bite to eat. read more

Tiny portions, had to get out of line to order a quesadilla online... they couldn't ring it up in store. Then it made me set my "pickup time" for 20 minutes away so I had to get back in line after a crowd showed up and wait an extra 15 minutes for them to start the order. I wasn't going to review but based on the fact they were out of ingredients and trying to stretch the little they had by skimping on meats and guacamole I had to say something. Stopped in about 3:30 on a Wednesday to grab a burrito. Not a whole lot of people so got in and out pretty quick, no receipt offered and didn't think about it till later...all in all thought it was good I got out quick because the dining area was ABSOLUTELY FILTHY! Trash cans overflowing, every table had either streaks and smears or actual trash with Two employees sitting around talking...then I took a sip of my drink to discover the syrup in the fountain soda was out and didn't want to back in for something else. read more

Just moved to McLean. I was excited to find this Chipotle location, however, first time I went in I was concerned because the dining room was filthy and they were also out of ice in the soda fountain. They weren't that busy so I thought they'd send someone out to clean and at least put ice in the machine after 3 other customers told them it was out. NOPE! This was the first time I visited, so, I thought...maybe this was an off night. I returned tonight. SAME situation!! When a dining room is filthy, your kitchen is too. I came to yelp to find that several people have posted they've gotten sick from this location. Wonder why? The high school staff that works at night clearly isn't trained in sanitation. This is by far the slowest and most dysfunctional Chipotle I have ever eaten at. It is located so close to me that it would be inconvenient to go anywhere else, but the service is so bad, I often consider doing just that. They are always out of one or more ingredients which holds up the line, even during non-peak hours. Portions are inconsistent and no one here can roll a burrito. The only bright spot is one cashier (possibly a manager) that actually seems to care about his job and customer service. Avoid this location if you can. read more

I was so excited when this location opened up right down the street from us!!! Yay! No more having to trek to the mall, deal with crowded parking and long lines.....or not.... I have been here about 10 times since it opened (The BF craves this place daily and after a long day of work we are too lazy to drive more than a mile for food) and I keep hoping that it will get better. I understood there would be some growing pains, training issues, slow service etc...but shouldn't it be improving over time? Not getting worse? We use our iphone app to order carry out so that we can avoid the long line that this place always has. So we are never actually present when the food is being made - maybe that is why we have had such negative experiences with this particular location. Food: The food is inconsistently bad. Either my burrito bowl barely has any rice in it, OR the rice is so soggy it looks like rice pudding, OR there is so much rice in it that I can't taste the other toppings. The burritos either fall apart or are so overly stuffed that they aren't even completely wrapped. Service: The last time we went, we arrived at the expected time that the food should have been ready according to our app. Now we don't mind having to wait a few minutes for our order...but this time we waited 57 minutes!! It was prime dinnertime and we were starved. There was a long line yet the people in line got their food ahead of us. I asked the cashier if we should just wait in line and she kept telling us "they are working on your order right now..." Clearly we could see the assembly line and they clearly were not working on our order at all. Apparently our order got lost somehow and the cashier didn't follow up with any of the line cooks. They're usually missing something, No brown rice this time. It's crazy loud inside. Yell at your table mate loud. Like 25 people working behind the counter, but still no efficiency. Only one cash register means no matter how fast your food moves down the line, it's still going to sit there getting cold waiting on the people in front counting their change. The portions are meager. At best. I love chipotle as a brand, but this location pretty much sucks. So I just finished lunch here - 2:02pm and this may probably the last time I come here. Parking wasn't too bad, especially since its time for the lunch crowd. I was able to park in a reasonable space that wasn't too far from the establishment. The restaurant is in a busy little building with a few other neighboring restaurants so it can be crowded. I walked in, and had I not been craving a burrito I probably would have walked back out. In line ahead of me were at least 20 patrons, all waiting and tapping their feet. Even the pick up/to go line was a little too long for my liking. After what seemed like 20 minutes I got to the front of the line, and the guy behind the counter begins to make my order. You could tell that no one is really managing the stock, because all the containers were near to being empty and needed to be refilled. Once we got to the condiments, the guy passed my bowl to a little girl working behind the counter who not only messed up on my bowl, but the lady in front of me and the guy behind me. She proceeded to just put what she thought I wanted on my bowl, not caring or realizing that I'm telling her its wrong. I didn't make her redo my food unlike the other patron, I just wanted to get my food and go. Seating in this place is minimal, especially during lunch. I've seen worse, but because of the layout it reminds me of a school cafeteria, you have to sit between people, and it's very hard to have a private lunch. They didn't even have any of the stools and tables that I have usually come to find at chipotle. All in all, they've really go to do better read more

I literally created my yelp account just so I can give this specific Chipotle a one star rating. I go to Chipotle 3-4 times a week and this is the closest one to my house (unfortunately). When they first opened up two years ago, I heard all sorts of negative things about them but I urged people to give them a chance, as every location struggles when they first open. Here I am two years later, getting on a website I never use just to tell everyone how terrible of an establishment this place is. Their food never tastes fresh and 90% of their staff have terrible attitudes that will guarantee to have you leaving frustrated. Chipotle is Chipotle. You can't really go wrong with the food. However this location was blasphemous and the worst I have ever been to. I am never in Mclean but had offered to pick up lunch before meeting a friend in the area. I used the online ordering for the first time and was very specific in their comments section on how I wanted my order and at what time. I arrived about 5-10 minutes after my designated pick up time and went straight to the counter. I was blatantly ignored for quite some time before the cashier finally acknowledged me. It took them another few minutes before they got around to packing my chips and salsa. I paid for my order and went to the side counter to pick up lemons and add some Tabasco Chipotle sauce only to discover that there were absolutely no lemons left or sauce in stock. I then proceeded to open my order based on a very wary feeling and am glad I did so because they got my burrito and burrito bowl completely wrong - the staff had neglected all of my comments for corn, extra lettuce, tortilla on the side, and minimal sour cream. Maybe I am being nit picky but there's a reason I added those commends specifically and I was extremely irritated and disappointed since I had been craving Chipotle for months. I went back to the cashier who was extremely sassy with me and rolled her eyes at my complaint. An awkward 30 seconds of silence passed before I exasperatedly requested some corn on the side to go. I work around the corner and was excited that this place opened Dec 1 since this part of McLean hasn't had anything new to eat for close to a decade, hence the comments about the long lines. However the place has barely been open two weeks and the staff was just as Leah H. described. One guy left halfway into making someone's burrito and the girl putting on the toppings just shoveled everything on my tacos as if it were a burrito. She literally slopped sour cream all over my tacos when I asked for "just a little bit", then stared me down when I gave her a quizzical look about what just went down. This place rocks! I'm here so often, some of them know my name. The meat is never over cooked like some of the other Chipotle restaurants. Other than that, Chipotle on the whole is really great food! It's quick, it's fairly healthy, and it hits the spot! My only gripe with them is that, although they use all organic meats and produce, the corn is still not non-GMO corn. I stay away from the corn and the corn chips now that I know that. What a shame, because they're delicious. I get the salad bowl with fajita and double steak plus medium salsa, tomatoes and guac. After not being able to get parking at our first choice of lunch destination, we popped over to this Chipotle. Chipotle is generally quick, easy, and good even during peak times at every location I've ever visited so it seemed like a no brained. My husband stood in line for about 10 minutes to order our lunch while I waited in the car with my toddler. Upon placing his order he was told he couldn't order a quesadilla in person, only online. What?!? So he had to finish going through the line and pay for our food and THEN go online to order the quesadilla for our son and wait another 10 for it to be made and brought out to the pick up shelf. This was not the procedure at the Tysons location when we were there a couple of weeks ago so assuming this is unique to the McLean location. To top it off, I had gone in w my son to relieve my husband in case he wanted to get started eating (he was on his lunch break from work) and we asked for a water cup for my son. The cashier readily handed over a water cup but then stared down my husband the entire time he was getting ice and water. In case he was going to steal soda I guess??? Food was good as usual but this location will not be on my go-to list in the future. Edit: I've discovered that in fact this is a "new" menu item intended for online order only. But again, I recently ordered a quesadilla at another location in person with no issue. Also, I have been getting quesadillas at Chipotle for several years all across the country. I don't quite understand the idea behind this "new" quesadillas or why it requires special ordering procedures. Went to Chipotle today when no one would unlock the door of the "OPEN" Jalapeno Grill restaurant at 5:10 p.m. (See reviews on neighboring Jalapeno Grill). My review is the same as most of the reviewers below: a) Food is good, if not terrific b) staff is still disorganized c) portion control is a mess (also mentioned as a problem at the Chipotle in Falls Church d) music situation needs to be corrected Fortunately, there was no line. My husband started with a chicken burrito and added toppings. A second server then popped up and jumped me (invisible woman over 50 problem? I was standing right in front of her) and started the burrito for the 3rd customer. Then my husband's server told her that I was next. Then they got into a fight over it. My husband's food is now all ready to go at the cash register and I am still at square one with two employees arguing over who should have served me. Plus there is no one available to cash out my husband because the two employees fighting had to stop fighting to check us out because there were no more employees (maybe they were over at the locked up Jalapeno Grill playing bridge in the kitchen). So I looked at the selections before ordering. Some (steak cubes) looked like they had been cooked yesterday so I pointed to the freshest looking ingredient and the server said "Barbacoa". I said "what?". "Barbacoa". "What is that?" "Beef". Fine, whatever. So I got the Barbacoa bowl, with salsa (tried 3), cheese, salad, black beans, and guacamole. The food was xlnt but I was disappointed with the portion size of the Barbacoa (I've learned by reading Chipotle reviews to order x2 next time). The dollop of guacamole for the surcharge was ridiculous. My husband also got an order of guacamole and an order of chips, which come in a brown bag. After we got to our table, we opened the brown bag and were surprised how few chips there were in the bottom of the bag. I don't know if that is standard practice; if it is, then Chipotle should use smaller bags. It's not fair for the customer to buy a "bag" of chips if the bag is only 1/4 full. The tiny plastic cup of guacamole, while good, was bland and overpriced. Chips were great, but not enough. I loved my barbacoa salad bowl and will definitely be back. My husband was much less impressed with his dried chicken burrito. But, all in all, good food - just not enough of certain items While we ate, we continued to watch the drama going on in food preparation/cash register. The line continued to grow while we sat. This restaurant really needs a crack manager. And PLEASE turn down that loud hip-hop music. Why in a Mexican food restaurant? My husband and I had no choice but to watch the drama in the kitchen and line because we couldn't talk to one another over the thump-thump-thumb of totally inappropriate music. read more

I used to like getting corn salsa on my chicken burrito with black beans. I had to think twice after seeing what their's looked like. I will just take that as an advantage of having them make the food in front of you. There was a large pre order ahead of me that took precedence before me and one other customer behind me. If I was in a hurry, I would have noted so but I was not so no big deal. Having to repeat my order four times the time before was not conducive either to a positive burrito experience. I realize it takes a lot of work and experience to get the flow going in an operation like this and likely it is due to the high turn around rate of employees in this locality. I still have one more coupon so I will be returning but per chance I really want a burrito, I will stop by again in the future because the burrito was still good. I always get the bowls which are basically the same as any other chipotle but they are more stingy with meat, guac, and queso. The staff used to be excellent but the service has definitely declined compared to the first few years it's been open. I always order the same thing but somehow the price I pay for it often changes; even when I come two days in a row. Also about a third of the time I order a drink there is no ice in the machine and they say they will get to it--usually 5 minutes later which is a bummer when I'm trying to do carry out. read more

I've never had a bad Chipotle experience at ANY chipotle until tonight. They were running low on most of the food and instead of refilling they gave half portions of everything. When I asked for more cheese (I had half the regular portion), she obliged giving me a sprinkle more. When I asked for a little more (considering I still wasn't at a complete portion), she gave told me it would be extra. Wait. What?! I'm going to have to pay extra for cheese. I told her that I had never once had to pay for that (I must eat Chipotle weekly), she became very defensive. What. An. Awful. Experience. Other people were amazed.
