I've been to plenty of Potbelly locations, and the food is consistently good. This location, however, is one of the most poorly run I've visited. It is also in a weird location, and the inside is set up strangely as well, which makes the experience feel awkward from the start. I ordered a Chicken & Cheddar Skinny and a turkey sandwich. The food itself was exactly what you'd expect from Potbelly, so no complaints there. The problem is the operation. There were five employees working, yet almost no attention was given to the customers standing in line. Instead, everyone seemed focused on online orders while the in-store line barely moved. If you're going to ask customers to come into your restaurant, they shouldn't feel like second-class customers behind the app. This isn't a staffing issue. It's a management issue. With five people on the floor, there should be someone owning the front line and taking care of the people who made the effort to walk in. Instead, it felt disorganized, inefficient, and frustrating. The food saved this from being a one-star review, but the way this restaurant is being run needs serious attention. Management needs to rethink their priorities and create a better balance between digital orders and the customers standing right in front of them. read more

I now have new favorite sandwich shop. This place has a bunch of great options and I'm definitely coming back to try them. I had their fiery Island chicken sandwich. It's fantastic! They also have a nice section of chips and cookies. Our order taker and sandwich maker Sara did an awesome job waiting on us and helping with sections seeing it was our first visit. The service and food quality are continuously poor at this location. I've been here at least dozen times in the past 8 years (due to its convenient location), and might be finally throwing in the towel. The sandwiches are poorly made and the ingredients are slapped together. The veggies and fixings from my sandwich were poorly distributed and falling out, very messy to eat. Hubby complained about the freshness of the meat on at least a few occasions. The staff is the real issue. I had a big order for my family with a couple of sandwiches and kids meal. The large African American server kept frowning and showing frustration while ordering. When I asked for a receipt, she laughed. Funny part is that she forgot to ring up one of the sandwiches and of course, charged me for it. I wasn't looking for a freebie, but I did expect a bit of humility and slight apology. The Kids Grilled Cheese is terrible and simply cheddar cheese slapped between bread. It's not a panini sandwich. While my 2 year son took a small bite and then immediately threw in the towel, my 4 year daughter just shook her head without taking a bite. They fought over the mac and cheese (the other kids meal). The small Oatmeal Chocolate Chip in the kids combo didn't taste that fresh. The saving grace was that I scored a free bowl of Broccoli Cheddar soup. It was a great experience from the warm friendly greetings upon entry to ordering and checking out. The sandwiches were made to order, hot, fresh, and delicious! I ordered the Pizza Melt, Wreck, and Farmhouse Chicken, along with a couple kid's combo Turkey and Swiss sandwiches. The shop itself is very cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff were incredibly helpful with making recommendations and customized the sandwich exactly how we wanted it. So, today is National Sandwhich Day so I placed an order to pick up from this location. I just want to say that to the three ladies working Wednesday night on the 11/03, I truly appreciate your service. These ladies had to deal with an influx of customers, online orders, phone calls to the store and customers who clearly had no understanding of how the food industry works. They were respectful and moving as quickly as possible while offering apologies for the long wait due to the amount of orders for THREE people. The location of this store is great with ample parking, the store itself is a spacious size. I would love to see more support for these workers by adding in more employees to help alleviate stress and I definitely hope they're paid for the overtime they had to stay. One of the better sandwiches I've had top to bottom. I was pleased with the flavors, textures and portions from this meal. I ordered the "big" Italian on white and it was out of this world. I think the thing that separates potbelly from its competitors is the toaster it uses. The bread was well toasted on all sides. Perfectly crisp to firm up the bite on each part of the bread. The other staple about potbelly is "their way" on sandwiches which is mayo lettuce onion tomato hot peppers oil mustard and pickles. I think it's the perfect refreshing addition to any sandwich on the menu. Service was good, no line at lunchtime and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I've become a huge fan of Potbelly. One reason is there are within walking distance of my work, but mainly because the food is really good! I've had a couple of times where they got the order wrong as far as specifics with the individual item customization, but I just rolled with it because most of the folks are friendly and they get things done quick. I recommend downloading the Potbelly app. You can add a form of plastic payment to make paying easier as well as earn points towards the loyalty program, even access a secret underground menu. They love giving away free stuff as well as discounts! That's the best part. ;-) They could use more napkin dispensers though, spread out amongst the dining area... just 'food for thought'... read more

This place is one of our D.C./NorVa must have every time we visit. We make sure we stop by before heading home. There are plenty of potbellys around here. This one was our first time stopping by at the Tysons Corner location. It is more of an underground style in which you have to use stairs to go down. The good thing about it was it is wheelchair accessible. We usually order the BIG chicken salad classic with the choice of multigrain or white bread. You can choose toppings of Mayo, Mustard, Hot peppers, Lettuce, Onions, Tomatoes, Oil or Italian seasoning. You can add avocados for an additional .60 I believe. Drinks, dessert, cookie, macaroni and chips are additional as well. I'm dying to have this location near home but at least it's something we look forward too when visiting. read more

So I was cruising along minding my own business when I stumbled upon this joint. And let me tell you they've got parking for days and outdoor seating galore. I walked on in and was like "Dang, this place is clean!" and this dude with mad menu skills and the killer smile was all like, " what can I get for you?" And I was like, give me all the meat and breads, my good man!" Which was just a turkey sandwich. But the real hero of this story was mark. This guy was like the quarterback of the sandwich, making team, jumping in wherever they needed a little back up and not only was he efficient, but he was also one of the most polite and professional managers I've ever met if he's a manager. Unfortunately, there was a few hiccups during my visit. First of all those high chairs were like a game of Jenga, waiting to happen. I swear I was too scared to breathe. Let alone move while I was perched on one of those things. And the music.!! don't get me wrong. Standard sandwich/sub spot that happens to shine with its prices. First off, comparing this place to subway is a sin. This place def has higher quality EVERYTHING. I think they decided to open this place specifically catering to Tysons corner. Meaning it is for the "Lunch" people. This place closes at 8pm on a normal day. I get off the metro around 8:30 (right across the street) And would have loved to get takeout dinner from here. They have a PRIME location for the Spring hill metro. I really do not understand why they close so early. Every other location of Potbelly is open till 10PM. My take: One of my Go-to sandwich spots. Really cannot go wrong. Stopped at this location for lunch. It's a bit tough to spot from Leesburg Pike and located on the first level of an office building tucked behind a Nissan dealership. Upon entering, I noticed that the dining room is sunken down a level. There is a hydraulic lift for wheelchair-bound guests as well. They even had live entertainment - a guitarist who also played the pan flute. I had my usual - TKY sandwich but opted for an IBC cream soda instead of a fountain drink. I didn't rated it five stars because the men's bathroom was not clean during my visit on Sunday (10 July) around 1330 when the place was not packed. This is a quintessential fast food place, but for those who love healthy food. It is clean and well-lit. My husband loved all of the vegies in his sandwich. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY OR DIET Today is 11/16/17 and I have not eaten meat since 03/13/15. I have maintained a strict vegetarian diet and have not had a problem eating the Mediterranean sandwich at Potbelly before. Their new staff members did not seem to be able to understand my order and put chicken in my sandwich. Fortunately the cashier was very understandable and I know he was not responsible for the error of the sandwich makers and he gave me a full refund despite saying I only wanted a refund for my sandwich and was happy paying for my drink and side as they were what I ordered. After speaking with me, the cashier spoke with the sandwich maker who confirmed that I ordered a "Mediterranean sandwich, no meat" so I am not understanding at what point in the process the meat was added to my sandwich. I am so glad that there now is a Potbelly's in the Tyson's area. Although I had to wait in line for my food during lunch... the line moved pretty quickly. This is a bigger than normal Potbelly's and the inside of this restaurant was designed beautifully with the acquired space. Usually I don't write reviews for fast-food chains but this one stood out to me. Shawn, who was the person who made my sandwich, and I later found out was the general manager, is an excellent worker. He probably made my sandwich in about 10 seconds with all the toppings I asked for. I was surprised by his efficiency, and I instantly knew that he was a key player in the store to make the line move so quickly. I'm sure his managing skills are excellent, but this really stood out. (I later complimented him on the great job that he was doing :]) This is definitely a great lunch spot to go to if you are in Tysons... not to mention that Potbelly's is one of my favorite fast-food restaurants! read more

This is the only place in the area (that I know of) that offers live entertainment at lunch! I can't eat gluten and I try to eat low carb, so I can't really comment on the sandwiches here. I was staying the weekend at the Sheraton Tysons Corner for a convention. Since I had time on Sunday, I decided to walk farther from the hotel. Potbelly is only a block farther away than the restaurant row near the hotel, although it's almost a quarter mile on foot. Anyway, it looks to me like Potbelly is a good alternative to other sub shops. I tried the Mediterranean sandwich. The bread was nicely toasted and I asked for all the extras so I wouldn't miss out on anything. Service was pretty good too. Ordered from this store several times now and am happy with this location. The cashier is very friendly and helpful, have not had a bad experience with the young man that has always helped me. The food was always great, the only thing I do not recommend is using catering. My office used this a couple of tones and the sandwiches were very plain and did not have a lot of ingredients. I have also tried their online order method and was very pleased. This location is also packed with the longest lines during lunch hours, so once I walked in they had my order and checked me out with a printed receipt in less than 1 minute. Our "hello, how are you?" was met with no response, and we put in a simple order - two Mediterranean sandwiches thin cut. That's all. Opened our sandwiches and they had chicken in them???? My mom went up and asked if the sandwich came with chicken, and the sandwich maker responded "um no, but that's what you asked for...." when we did not, in fact, ask for chicken- and were charged extra for it! The manager eventually intervened and offered to refund the difference, but didn't seem to understand our frustration. They don't really seem to believe that the customer is always right - even when the customer actually IS. Just rude staff, kind of dirty, and sub par sandwiches from an otherwise great chain.
