We had a really positive experience at this shiny new Chipotle. First off, they offer drive thru which is lovely. We dined in this time due to traveling with kiddos and I appreciated that they had high chairs and a cleaning changing station in the bathroom. Overall, the space felt fairly clean. The staff could have been friendlier. It seemed like they may have been short staffed. Overall, our food was great and it was a positive pit stop. Hubby & I stopped in for lunch. We haven't been to this location before & found it to be very clean & welcoming. I ordered the carne asada bowl with lettuce instead of rice & topped with their delicious guacamole. Hubby got the carnitas bowl with rice & all the toppings. The carne asada was a limited time item & a little spicy, which I liked. We also added a bag of freshly made tortilla chips & they were good. Hubby cleaned his plate (bowl) but I took some of mine home & ate it later that evening. We received service with a smile & will definitely be back. read more

Welllll... after 12+ years, it's time for an update. Chipotle is one of the few places that offers vegetarian/vegan options in Richmond, but it's gone from fast and efficient to slow and messy. The employees have zero sense of urgency when it's busy; in fact, it seems like their productivity slows down as the line of customers gets longer. Trash cans are overflowing, tables aren't wiped off, and it's almost guaranteed you're going to wait in line at least 15 minutes. But... the food remains more or less decent. Keep your expectations in the gutter for anything else. read more

Chipotle is a restaurant that took me years to finally try. Originally, I found they were expensive, but I had to get over that. Their food is delicious! On this particular day, I had Burrito Bowl with Chicken, Brown Rice, Pinto Beans, Fajita Veggies, Cheese, Guacamole. I also ordered their famous chips and guacamole, and Coke Zero. All of this is good, and I would order it again. I just wish they would bring back Pollo Asado, which is grilled chicken, for their Burrito Bowl. I had that once before, and it was excellent. When I first heard of them, McDonald's owned the company, along with Donato's Pizza and another casual dining place. I'm not surprised. It's an easy-to-assemble-food place and I'm sure the food is consistent wherever you stop in the country. The person making the food was friendly and explained everything extremely well. So, I decided on crunchy tacos. I usually go for crunchy because the soft tacos elsewhere use flour tortillas, which really aren't for tacos. "Do you want white rice or brown rice?" "RICE?" "We're a little bit different." "White rice." I started to think this was going to be an Asian Mexican place. "Black beans, blah blah blah?" I really don't remember the other choices. "Umm, black beans." "Chicken, Steak, Barbacoa, carnitas?" "Steak. Isn't Barbacoa Argentinian?" "Mild, corn with a little spice, or spicy salsa?" "The spiciest" "Cheese, sour cream?" "No, thanks." "Lettuce?" "Yes, please." She really was helpful. $8.83 with a small soda? Wow. Mind you it's not a small amount of food, but the rice and beans are filler, don't you think? It's a "Mexican Grill"? I guess that's like Carrabba's is an "Italian Grill" where they make things that remind you of Italian food, but aren't. Chipotle has been consistent across the board no matter where I've eaten and this place is no exception. I appreciate knowing exactly what I am eating (google pink slime -you'll never want another fast food burger again!) and when I order the bowls or burritos, I always ask them to omit the rice and the double the beans. (Thank goodness my husband loves me! Ha ha!) One of my complaints is that a dollop of avocado is quite pricey, it's something like an additional $2.00 which is pretty crazy considering you're only getting a spoonful. That's a total rip! Also the chips tend to be way overly salted. I am talking largely visible salt crystals which need to be manually brushed off. Otherwise the place is always clean, service is swift, and the food is fresh and the portions are huge. For being a chain restaurant, I love this place and would eat here over Taco Bell any day. read more

There is a lot to like about Chipotle that's been said. I particularly like the big windows with bar-seating. However I have one big issue with this chipotle... The burritos are often not wrapped well. They are too fat, too loose, and often disintegrate in my hands. I'm not getting extra ingedients, and I ask for my salsa drained to avoid extra "water" in the burrito. The service is great and friendly, but this wrapping issue is driving me nuts. 1 thing that keeps me coming back to chipotle. guacomole. I began my love of guac because of chipotle. it's always fresh and has the best flavor I've had in a chain restaurant. I will always keep returning for the green smushed goodness. this particular chipotle is always busy but they usually keep the line moving and usually pretty friendly! The food was very fresh and hot. Service was average and fairly inefficient as the line on a Friday night grew quite long. We tried out the chips and guacamole, which were very good. I don't like spicy foods, so I had the pinto beans, which have small pieces of bacon with them and added great flavor to my chicken burrito. I have had the black beans in the past and found them to be too spicy. The burritos are very large and very filling. I think it can be intimidating to go to Chipotle to eat, as it can be to get coffee from Starbucks if you have not been there before. The ordering process is not too complicated, but it seems like the workers preparing your food and the other customers in line are impatient with people who ask questions or hesitate while thinking of what to order. read more

I have two favorite meals in this town and one of them is the Chicken salad with chunky tomatillo salsa and guacamole at Chipotle. It's amazing. And with around 350 calories, it fits into my diet. It's always easy to get in and out, although during the busiest of times seating may be limited. They also notoriously mentioned (every single time) "Don't forget, guacamole is an extra $1.80". Yes, I know this and I can see the gigantic sign behind you head. But I suppose they must get people who decline after they reiterate that fact. I don't care. There was no line and 5 people behind the counter (yay!)....but that made it all the more disappointing waiting while our food got cold so the lady in front of us could extra tortillas after paying. If this is the only Chipotle you've ever tried, please try another location before giving up on the franchise. If you've never been to this location, save your time and money and wait until you're in a town with a Chipotle that's better managed. This was the worst Chipotle I've ever been to. I love Chipotle and eat at different locations fairly frequently, and almost always have a good experience. Luckily, most of the food is fairly standardized, so they didn't completely screw up everything, even though it seemed like they tried to. The chips were stale and salted extremely unevenly, they were out of the grilled veggies at the time and said it would be about 20 minutes before they'd have them ready. What? The manager is obviously doing a terrible job, as the employees all seemed clueless and disorganized. This was the first time I've ever been truly disappointed with a Chipotle visit. read more

My boss is obsessed with Chipotle, so we eat it at least once a week at work. (He usually eats it twice a week!) This location used to be fantastic. Used to be. For over 2 years, I've ordered a wide variety of combinations from here as I've gone through all the Chipotle phases: Confusion- What the hell is this? You know this is NOTHING like Mexican, right? Or even Tex-Mex? Or even MexiCali? Acceptance- Welp, I guess I'll see what I can come up with. Random Cravings- That are never quiiiiiiiite satisfied. Pregnancy- They're the devil (heartburn,) but I crave them. Post Pregnancy- They're still the devil, and I still crave them. Oh My God I'm a Maid of Honor Diet- Still the devil, delicious salad. I Just Don't Even Know What To Get Anymore- Self explanatory, as it gets really boring after a while. It's still pretty solid- or used to be, anyway. Decent meat, great salsas, good guacamole (I heart cilantro, so...) and it was consistent because, well, everything tastes the same no matter what. Pork, chicken, beef, veggie- doesn't matter, all tastes the same- some sort of kinda spicy, pseudo-fresh, not-really-Mexican-or-a-grill flavor. Now, however, I never know what the hell I'm going to get. I mean, seriously, it doesn't matter what I order- the only thing I know for sure is that whatever I ordered is NOT what I'm getting. Today, for instance: I sent my boss with an order for a quesadilla with cheese and pico, sour cream on side, guac on side, and a side of chips with corn salsa and red salsa. According to my receipt, I got a Large Quesadilla and an order of chips & guac. Wait- isn't this a vegetarian option? Doesn't it come with guacamole? (I really don't care about this; it is SO not important- I think it was actually cheaper the way they did it.) What I got, however, was a quesadilla which was only cheese. Nothing else, just a meager handful of cheese splatted on a tortilla and then melted. Not even cut, as they NEVER cut it for me. I did get a side of corn salsa, red salsa, like I asked for...and the pico that was supposed to be on the quesadilla. I did NOT get any sour cream, which is par for the course with these people now. So I got a tortilla with a bit of cheese, and a bunch of crap to awkwardly dip it in. Mmmm, lunch fail, yummy. Thanks ever so much for that little blip of sadness in my day. However, wile on vacation my family stopped here and during the meal, my three year year old son dropped his quesadilla and she made us a new one free of charge. My receipt says her name was "Sherri" but, I don't think it's her because the girl I'm talking about was making the food and not on the register. The food is delicious but Chipotle lost a couple stars due to it sometimes upsetting my bowels ... I don't understand why sometimes it does while other times it doesn't. I still go due to the food being so good and so healthy. I just recommend only having Chipotle if you are eating it at home or going home soon, just in case. read more

I travel a lot and like to stop at Chipotle, this stop however was extra good. I was about to start eating and realized I did not have a fork for my bowl. One of the employees was in the dining room and noticed and immediately got me a fork. I watched her talking to customers and asking people how they were doing. I have celiac disease. There are not many "fast food" restaurants where I can find appropriate things to eat. This is a wonderful option for people with food allergies as well as those who don't have any allergies. This is mine and my husbands favorite place to eat in Richmond.
