First he scooped half a spoon of rice into the bowl and looked at me and said is this enough? I just kind of looked at him... because I've never been asked that question at Chipotle. I thought they had like a standard amount. He continued to ask me "is this enough?" with EVERYTHING I asked for... I was so uncomfortable and didn't know what to say. Very disappointing experience on Friday, May 22. When we walked in, the restaurant was a complete mess. There were multiple dirty tables throughout the dining area and the garbage bins were overflowing, making the place feel neglected and unclean. When we got to the front to order around 9:15 PM, we were told there was no white rice, no chicken, no guacamole, no lettuce, and no sour cream. Considering the restaurant closes at 11:00 PM, it was frustrating to see so many basic items unavailable almost two hours before closing. On top of that, it felt like the staff seemed annoyed that we even walked in. I stopped in at lunchtime to get a bowl with the honey chipotle chicken. It took a minute or two for the line to move, as a couple of staff were running back and forth taking orders and moving some stuff around. When I ordered, the guy that took my order looked at the line, saw there was no honey chipotle chicken, heaved an exasperated sigh and without saying anything grabbed the regular chicken, dumped half of it into a second metal container, mixed in a powder, tossed it a bit, then came back and made a bowl with it. What I got was sandy and dry chicken, which I ate about half of before pitching the rest. Service is lacking. Placed an order online and was notified that the order was ready and in one (1) bag on the shelf. Entered the building to no bag on the shelf. Went to the counter to enquire about the order and had to finally grab someone's attention because not one employee asked me if I needed assistance to be told that no such order existed even after showing them my order on the app. Had to wait for the other orders to be made before my problem was addressed and then had to show someone the order on their screen to be told it was given to someone else. The staff seemed very overwhelmed and were passive-aggressive with each other and blunt with customers. By the time I ordered, they were out of several items. While I understand being understaffed, the manager didn't even seem to bother to help them. At checkout, the employee dropped an F-bomb after forgetting my order, which I found unprofessional, and rolled his eyes when I paid with a $50, responding dismissively when I offered another way to pay. The trash cans were overflowing, tables covered with food remains, glass doors so dirty you can't see through. Website orders aren't being brought out to the shelf but you have to go request them. I don't know if their quality has gone down all over or if it's a Connecticut thing, all the Chipotles here I tried are equally disappointing. I craved for a burrito bowl from Chipotle recently and review of all the locations around kind of scared me, anyway I decided to try it. The reviews on Yelp are terrible. Until last week, I didn't understand the ratings and comments because I had always had great experiences. About two weeks ago the location was out of white rice and carnitas. Yesterday, they were out of vegetables/fajitas and didn't have any forks for me to eat my bowl with. The white rice was awful, made with way too much lime and salt, almost inedible. Even worse was the attitude of the young lady at the register, who, when I asked how I should eat my bowl, responded; "I didn't place the order for them...". I I've never left a review of a restaurant before bad or good but this awful place deserves one. Lived in Wallingford for some time now, used to come here all the time never had any issues. Past year that's changed. I had 8-10 orders consistently messed up in a row and some terrible in store experiences before I called it enough. They put together some of the worst looking bowls I've ever seen now, on top of that the management and staff is some of the worst I've seen as well. They constantly are out of something, the staff acts like you are the worst person ever for asking for your order, they blast loud music with swearing which I don't care about, but that can't be great with little kids around? The food tastes awful, chicken seems either undercooked or overcooked, and did I mention how rude the staff is? Management clearly doesn't care, it feels more like a frat house than a restaurant. It's a shame because every time I pass the place now it's still pretty packed so I'm sure management doesn't care about any of these reviews but please if you're thinking of coming here, don't. Go to pancheros down the road instead. 10x better. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Whoever's running this place needs to figure it out, I hope you actually read this although I doubt it. So upset with the service. I went there the other day, and I was excited because it wasn't very crowded. After making my bowl, I took out a $20 bill to pay with. The server told me that they did not have exact change to give back to customers. I was a little confused by this because I would assume that fast food chains would normally keep change on them. I only had this $20 bill with me, so I couldn't pay because I wouldn't get my change back. When I say exact change, I mean that the person working told me that there were no $1,$5,$10 bills to give me. So, I was forced to throw away my bowl, as I couldn't pay for it. I drive completely out of my way to this specific location, because I can count on getting my food done correctly, made with care, wrapped correctly and not slapped together like other locations in CT. It is also nice that you're greeted with a smile and well mannered people who treat you with respect too. Samet & Adithya are consistently great, as is Lisette. That was literally the worst Chipotle I've ever been to. There were 2 customers ahead of me when I came in to order, but I stood waiting in line for around 20 minutes. The staff were all unfriendly with low energy. The store was filthy and there wasn't a single seat without food scraps on it.
