First time going here as a New York native, and I was blown away by the food and the service! Our server, Andrew, was incredible and friendly! The Buffalo shrimp are a MUST TRY!! This place use to be the go to place to hang out It's been slipping every year . The host that greeted us was very rude obviously didn't like his job or people . He is in the wrong business . He was not pleasant to anyone. When we finally got are order in it took way to long . To Start we were not served the waters we ask for . Then we put our drink order in and waited about 10 min . Once our food order was in it came out in about 12 to 15 min exception of one of the entrees was missed . We had to wait another 12min or so The chicken sandwich was dry like beef jerky and didn't have the aioli sauce on it . We had to ask for sauce . Then the fajitas were served not sizzling but look warm .and they forgot my sour cream . The two buffalo chicken plates we ordered we not served with ranch dressing that was suppose to come with it . We had to ask for that too which took another 10 min. We ate one entree with out the ranch dressing . Then we were Going to order dessert . But they ran out dessert period . Like I said it's slipping . And if not addressed it will be out of business soon . read more

This is our "neighborhood pub", which we have enjoyed since moving to Clinton 5 years ago. I say this because my wife and I would very much like to see it continue and be successful. Last evening, we walked over at 5pm to have an early dinner and a couple of drinks. When we walked in and sat in the bar area, we waited uncomfortably for someone/anyone to acknowledge us. 4 wait staff members were standing and chatting on the other side of the bar and didn't even look our way. We asked the young woman working hard to clean tables who our waitress was and she brought us menus and silverware and said that she would check. When nothing happened, my wife got up to order a couple of drinks directly from the bar. At that point, a waitress appeared out of the back and said that she was our server. She took our drink order and said that she would put it in to the bartender. However, we watched the order slip sit there for 10 more minutes until my wife asked our server if she put in the order. We then watched as she walked over and handed our order slip to the bartender. The drinks came and they were done really well. The previous owner had a problem with "short pours" on liquor and wine - small glasses and tiny wine glasses were a bad look. That is no longer the case and the change is refreshing and welcome. This is a positive. As far as the food is concerned, I ordered a cheese burger, cooked medium, with onion rings. My wife was going to order the Brussel sprout appetizer, but cancelled due to the slow service that we encountered when we arrived. My sesame burger roll was as dry as a piece of sheetrock and I got rid of the top of the bun. The burger was on the rarer side of medium-rare and not made to my order (medium). Get a pro on the grill and make sure that your bread is fresh. Get some "adult" leadership in the place. My wife and I noticed that there were no adult managers anywhere to be found. Employ a good manager and train, train, train the wait staff. And, make sure the tables aren't "sticky" - wash them with something that actually cuts grease. Our elbows kept sticking to the table top (this is something that we have encountered at Chow also. It might work there, but it won't fly here). I make a point to give places the benefit of the doubt. Ive come here off and on for years and have to say: Service was great. Food came promptly. I ordered a balsamic grilled chicken salad. I counted 10 whole tomatoes, might have been better if they sliced them in half and reduced the amount. The vinaigrette dressing was soupy and ended up in the bottom of my salad bowl. I'm guessing about a cup of dressing. It was tasty but overkill on the dressing. Not sure I'll return but wanted to give it one last time. read more

I'm local so I've come here frequently with my friends and family, food's great, beer's good. But recently came here by myself and the server refused to sit me even in the open high-top tables at the bar area. He kept telling me to wait until a bar spot opened. Which never did. FYI - The kitchen is open everyday until 11pm. This place is the best. They came to the rescue again on Sunday night when we had just gotten back from a long weekend get-away and were absolutely starving at about 9:30pm. Even the grocery stores in Clinton had closed but not good old Chips. We had an excellent dinner that involved Quesadillas, Clam Chowder and Chicken Cesar Salad. There are not a lot of restaurants to choose from in Clinton, so this may be the reason Chips can survive. Great place to have a drink. The food is mediocre, the carpet needs to go and the place feels dingy, needs a good makeover. read more

I've never liked Chips. I've been there at least a dozen times over the last ten years and I have just grown to despise the place. For starters, you get a bowl of stale popcorn when you sit down... most places are content to give you warm baked bread, but the popcorn is there to make you thirsty. Which is great, because the refills are not free, and the glasses are small. The menu itself is comprised of bar-quality food that is being served at an undeserving price. It's not worth your time unless this is the only place you can find to eat. Which in Clinton may very well be the case. read more

When we rolled up to this joint, after a lovely afternoon of shopping at the Outlets nearby, I was like, "Uhmmm....okay??" We walked through the bar to get the the host....and was like, "Well.....let's not make a snap decision.....but...I mean...really??" We were greeted and sat immediately. The dining room looked like an Applebee's and a Red Lobster got together and made a baby shack. But my friend raved so much about this place that I tried to keep my bourgeois thoughts to myself. And I'm VERY glad I did! Our server was lovely, and knowledgeable. The menu is extensive, and VERY well priced, especially for the portions! The buffalo shrimp appetizer (the best I have EVER had anywhere in my international travels) was fresh, breaded and fried perfectly, and GINORMOUS! This was MORE than huge enough to make an entire meal. I bought it for the table, and we barely dented half of this bad boy. I got the special ravioli with a blue cheese cream. The flavors were all there. Lovely! The crab was splendid. Not a big fishy, and quite plentiful. The sauce was a little thin for my liking, but I was super filled up after these back-to-back seafood dishes. My nieces mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, and fries were plentiful, and not the least bit greasy. My friend's salad was enormous, and she loved it. My only qualms (besides the general ambiance....then again...my fault for thinking this would be an upscale pub) were that the booths were tight...and I always give leeway for this since I'm not the smallest guy. But this was tight even for my squirming niece. And I ordered an Arnie Palmer....and it was just the one you get in a gas station, pre-bottled. I assumed I'd be getting fresh, or at least in a glass. But she just popped down the refrigerated bottle. Uhm...no. Still, everything was so awesome, especially the prices, that I really can't give them less than a 4-star rating. I'll be back! read more

Tried this place a few times. Each visit, I was hoping the last experience was just a fluke. The food is quite honestly not that good and wayyy overpriced. The wings are teeny tiny and you'll be lucky to get a few bites out of one. The atmosphere is okay and it looks as though they have a patio for when the warmer weather comes so it may be a nice place to stop for a drink. I love the place, although the benches aren't padded and can get a little hard. They make great burgers and fries or wraps. Their apps are great. The few downsides are that: sodas aren't free refills, food takes forever to come and that it takes a long time to get the attention of your waiter/waitress. If you head there with some friends, don't mind sitting and chatting a while while you wait for your food/service, then I think it's a great place. read more

Chips Pub is the local watering hole favorite. Ample parking in the rear. I think sitting at the bar the best, great drinks and food. The waitresses in other areas do not seem happy. Jonah the bartender today was great. I like the hamburgers, can have them rare if you want, grind their own so safe. The clam chowder bread bowl is another favorite of mine. We've been sitting outside for lunch every week because of covid and our age. We went there a few weeks ago for a delicious Valentines lunch. They are all so kind and helpful to keep us warm with heaters etc. The food is awesome. They go above and beyond for customers. We usually have Jen as our waitress. Walked in bc its the only place open at 9pm. Had Ruben 10oz burger with sweet potato fries, while wifey had fried wontons and soup of the day. Definitely a hand made patty as there were lots of irregularity. However the irregularity is what made it amazing, found myself going for the ends first. The fries were done perfectly, it had the perfect crispiness to sweetness ratio. The fried wontons were surprisingly delicious. It does appear oily, but very little oil came off after the tissue test. The only thing that stopped a five star was the soup. It was warmish and bland. Overall a great experience. We went on a Monday sat at a table in the bar and it wasn't that busy but it took 10 min before we were offered drinks. It has a TGI Fridays feel when you come in. The steamed clams were fishy we only ate one each and left the rest. The cheese burger wraps were very light on the additional fillings. We had two small piece of avocado and half a leaf of romaine. The fried food was good but it's hard to go wrong with mozz stix and potato skins. Potato skins we crisp and loaded with toppings. Our sever didn't come over very often and when she cleared our plates she never even ask was everything ok your plates have been untouched. This will be a great place for drinks and fried app's if your looking for a meal you should look elsewhere. read more

Great place for just drinks or for a family dinner. The decor is always a blast to observe. The walls are covered in old license plates, signs, and posters. I always find a new favorite. Great find , I'm not sure what the others reviews were speaking of and I'm glad I didn't make my judgement on those reviews. Walked in with a party of 6 adults , waited 10 minutes to be seated which was more than fair , service was great even on a busy lunch shift , both the French Onion and clam chowders were a 9 out of 10 , burgers are a great size of quality meat with a nice char flavor on them , onion rings , tater tots , and sweet potatoes fries are all way above average in taste , quality and preparation. Personally I had a English muffin Swiss burger with sweet potatoes fries. burger was cooked perfect. Place is definitely worth a visit , if I lived closer it would be a regular grab for me. Enjoy. I went inside to to tell the hostess there is 2 of us for a table outside. (there were only 3 tables being occupied outside at that time) She was seating a family outside then came in and passed me 3 times never saying anything like "I'll be right with you."Never even made eye contact like I wasn't even there. Finally when I told her 2 people for outside she informed me that it will be 10-15 mins because they had a party that just left and they had to clean the 3 tables. Mind you there were 4 waitresses cleaning the tables. I looked around and there were at least 8 tables that were not occupied. We left and went somewhere else and will never come back here again. I'm in the restaurant business and that was very poor customer service. read more

It took a long time for her to approach our table to take our order which was fine but when she came she gave me an attitude. I have been going to Chips for longer than I can remember. The staff is friendly, the environment is comfortable, prices reasonable and the food is beyond passable for a dinner or late night meal. In particular, the nachos are ginormous and the fried pickles, buffalo chicken wrap & buffalo chicken pasta are always great choices. Also the blue cheese is SO GOOD. We stopped here for lunch on our way to RI... Found it through Yelp. It's only 5 minutes off the highway and also nearby to outlets and in a cute little town. Always on the hunt for something local - not a chain - Chips' delivered. I loved the corny, kitschy menu (totally my humor) and the variety was nice; they had a lot of offerings from wings, burgers, wraps, salads, entrees... and much more. There's a big, welcoming bar area where you can saddle-up and watch tv, or two sections of tables and booths with walls that are adorned with old local signage, seasonal decor, etc. Your server brings a bowl of popcorn to start off, and is friendly, quick and helpful. We were in and out in less than an hour and the fare was solid bar food. We had wings and burgers. Steak fries and onion rings were good. I also wanted to point out that they had plenty of high chairs, a changing table in the bathroom (now that I'm a mom I'm shocked at how many places have high chairs and kids menus but no place to change kids!) and the women's room was roomy and had bars for handicap accessibility on both sides - another nice touch. read more

Stopped in last night with 13 people around 7:15, needed to be out by 8:45 to go see the fireworks. Was seated outside and everything was perfect. I had the cowboy ribeye, medium (done perfect) My son had Prime Rib also perfect. All were happy and the service was fantastic, 13 people with there little extra request like more sour cream or more water, or mushrooms for there steak did not detour are waitress. This was my fourth time here and every other time before I went with my family and it was fine but today I went with my friends and maybe it's because we're young l, but the experience was awful. Three of us ordered penne a la vodka and two of them had hair in it. The service was really, really slow and the waitress didn't refill our waters until I asked her after all of our glasses were empty for at least twenty minutes. The stars in this review go to their potato skins. Hands down, the best pub potato skins I have ever had. The rest of the food is not very good. We have been here twice. My fiancé had a burger and said it wasn't very good. The fries were cold and bland. I ordered the buffalo shrimp and was disappointed that the shrimp were super soggy and not very appetizing. I didn't really eat most of my meal. I have also tried the cheesesteak sandwich and I wasn't impressed. I also thought it was a pretty pricey lunch. Horrible! We sat around with no menus or service which felt like forever. Then when the waitress showed up she wanted a drink order but we had no opportunity to look at a list of cocktails. I wanted to order a glass of wine so Ashley, the waitress, decided to quickly ramble off the wines by the glass rather then get me a menu- which came later on. When she came back with our drinks she was clumsily holding onto the rims of all our glasses (were we needed to drink from) as she placed them down on the table, instead of using a tray or holding the bottom of the glasses. Then we ordered and waited so long for our appetizers which were served without any plates! I had to get up and find a server and requested them, yet when they came, the bus boy only brought us three plates and we were four people, so I had to get up again to get myself a plate. What the heck! It was obvious when he got there that he was short a plate, yet he quickly set the table leaving my guest without a setting and took off! All the while Ashley was no where to be found, yet when she stopped by the table next to us she served them their food, before us, yet they came in after us. She also clearly knew them as she spent a tremendous amount of time talking with the family every time she stopped by and ignored all our needs...just one table over. I also want to point out that we were sitting outside, this is important because the restaurant allowed people to smoke even in the underpass which is where all the tables were set up. Our dinners came out and I ordered "The Perfect Spinach Salad" which should be served with warm balsamic dressing, yet I got no dressing. Ashley this time circled back around, much to my pleasant surprise, to see how our dinners were, so I had the opportunity to request my salad dressing without getting out of my seat a third time, which I was really excited about. Ashley came right back out with the dressing but it was not warm. She served it in a small plastic cup - cold. Now, I have had this salad before, It's just salad unless you have the spinach tossed in the WARM dressing! Why would I want to pay $12.50 for this?! Then I get the bill and the wine prices are higher on my bill then stated in the menu. I'm done at this point - I never worked so hard to get what I needed while trying to have a night out to eat. I come to find out later that my guests dishes had their own issues. I will never return and I suggest you don't either unless you have connections - because apparently ONLY if you know the waitress, will you be treated as their guest. read more

I go here once a week. Good food, reasonably priced. There is something on the menu for everyone, it has a huge selection of all kinds of food. Portions are great especially for the salads. We went to pick up take out at the bar tonight. The bartender got our order and opened the styrofoam boxes they were in to check and see if it was right. She did this twice. The second time, she didn't close the lid on the buffalo wings. She started to put the opened box in a brown bag when I asked her to close the lid. She looked at me, smiled a really weird smile, and continued to put the styrofoam box in the bag...I signed the receipt and walked out in shock. We get home and the wings are disgusting. The meat was uncooked. The rest of the wings will be going in the garbage where they belong. My chicken wrap was decent but didn't have the right cheese I asked for. Well, we were here for 12 minutes before we ordered drinks, and another 12 before we received them. In an hour and a half span I was able to drink 2 drinks, due to the lack of service. I ordered a medium rare 16 oz ribeye. It was maybe 1/4" thick and a far cry from 16 oz, 90 percent was well done, and the end of one side was raw. Poor cut of meat as I could barely cut through it. Very disappointing experience for an "award winning" restaurant. Would love to meet those who voted. Left still hungry... read more
