Jasmine was super sweet and even though they weren't "big" questions, she addressed all my concerns. I'm extra picky with 120° weather. Anyway, both drinks were so yummy. The horchata latte with oat milk was not too sweet and I loved the cinnamon stick garnish. The limon & pepino was so good too. Very natural. From a 0-100 sweet level, I'd say it was 75%. Once the ice melted, the leftover sweetness left a whole new drink for me to enjoy after. Jasmine really made these with so much care and attention. I live in LA, surrounded by coffee shops. These flavors are just "fads" and taste "manufactured" but the taste of the drinks at this shop, as a Mexican American, was on point. Misleading. It is a restaurant that has a coffee shop, but the coffee shop has its own hours and you won't know until you go inside, and they tell you that it is closed but the restaurant is still open. Hours here don't match the hours that the coffee shop is open, so it is very misleading. This small hole in the wall specializes in breakfast food and locally sourced goods. They have a variety of dried fruits, nuts, candy, and pre-packed road snacks. Their dessert menu includes cheese cakes, speciality breads, and pie. I've never met a banana bread I didn't buy.. so of course I snagged a slice. This bread was topped with light frosting and pecans, giving it the perfect amount of sweetness and crunch. Their bathrooms are also much nicer than any gas station. GETTING HERE: I-10 is really long. I mean, really long and really straight. I would very much recommend adding this on your GPS and checking out the area. The Summit is quite large and full of things to do and see. REVIEW: This is a nice place to stop for a respite if you're in the area. There's a Chevron, a museum, a Foster's, and a few other places. But, my crew was hangry so we headed to the Coffee Shop. It was a good time. The wait staff were insanely busy; it was lunch time when we stopped in for a rest. There were two ladies on the floor and they were booking it! Props to those that work in the food industry post-shutdown. We (kind of) seated ourselves and decided to choose our food asap to make the best use of our time. We ordered a garden salad and the turkey sandwich. They were both just OK at best. There are things for sale as you enter the restaurant: shirts, blankets, postcards, etc. Check those out! This location is rich with history of the Chiriaco family. Chiriaco Summit is a tradition for me and us. I've been around the Coachella Valley 61 years. My employment carried me from Yuma to Coachella Valley and the Colorado River to Page and beyond. I-10 to the 210 to 5 and the 127 was my parental health care mantra. The Chiriaco Summit Cafe and it's sundries are a road gift staple. Date shakes, date cookies, half pounds of dates have ridden in my vehicles - for awhile. Reading and documenting historical markers across the region I learned the importance of Southern California born General George Patton and the vast Desert Training Center. One of his myriad Tankers was my supervisor decades ago. July 2024, on the final leg of a swift marathon drive we stopped here. Burger, burning hot crinkle fries, root beer float, strawberry shake. Lots of water too. Cool dining room, historical photos and local art on the walls. Clean restrooms. We enjoyed every bit of our meal, interactions with staff and the 91 years of Mojave Desert history and development represented here. I am sure my mentor "Water Project Bob" filled his share of gas tanks and ate his share of burgers as he stitched his own historical fabric in the region 70 years ago. The Chiriaco Famoly built a bustling oasis in the middle of the Mojave Desert, leaving their mark on modern history. I am honored to participate. read more
