This looks like fast food, so I was immediately shocked when they rang up $18.50 for the meal with no drink. I thought ok fine, let's see how it is before passing judgment. Food comes, it's a small grilled chicken breast diced up!? Over rice, little side salad and a wrapped pita. Ok so what separates this from a $7 street cart? I'll tell you, the taste, this isnt shawarma it's a small grilled chicken breast. Their chicken is always on point. I started coming here after my co-worker introduced me to where she likes to go when she gets cravings. I've come back three times since, and it's only been about 2 weeks...that's how much I love it! If I lived any closer, they would know my name by heart because they offer delivery services! I always get a half chicken with fries. Their housemade iced tea tastes better than bottled snapple. It's fairly priced, I have no complaints of outrageous pricing. After you place your order, you're given a little number card which is how they determine which tray of food goes to who. They have air-conditioned inside seating as well as outdoor seating. Whether or not you choose to sit in or out they bring your tray of food to you. They do have a fairly spacious restroom with a dyson hand drying station. I think that's great, you're eating chicken, which means you'll probably be using your hands. They sometimes leave you a wet wipe packet on your tray, but not every single time. It can get busy so I understand if you sometimes don't receive it in the chaos of things. No biggie, just go to the bathroom to thoroughly wash your hands! Popped in here for a quick meal. The place gets pretty busy, but service is pretty quick. Half Chicken Meal ($12.50) with salad, pita bread, macaroni & cheese The chicken was dry, but grilled chicken tends to be dry. The flavor was alright. The sides come in small plastic cups. The salad is basically lettuce & tomatoes in a little dressing. The macaroni & cheese tastes like the instant kind. It also came with a small cup of salsa, which looked like mushy tomato juice. Arroz con Pollo ($9): This tasted a little better than the grilled chicken. It was still dry, but with the rice & beans, it was more of a complete meal. Everything felt like a fast food chicken restaurant. The prices aren't too bad. The service was decent. Someone came and cleared our tray when we finished. Not bad. read more

Chirping is like having simple, home-cooked delicious food that you want to whip up at the end of the day but youre too simply too tired... it's the PERFECT healthy choice where you can order a ton of healthy and simple good food. Hearty dinner you can feel good about. This is one of those rare restaurants where they ask if you want your chicken juicy, extra juicy, well-done or extra well done. The specificity is much appreciated! And they actually read and abide by the special instructions - which so many restaurants dont bother doing. I get grilled chicken strips, well-done, side salad (with the most perfect tangy, herby oil and vinegar - I would LOVE to know the dressing recipe) and a baked sweet potato that comes with butter. I usually get an extra side salad or two because its so simple and delicious. Grilled chicken strips cooked nice and char as asked for. This is a okay place on the Upper West Side for lunch that serves charcoal broiled chicken. It is usually crowded during lunchtime but it has lots of tables, and even has outdoor seating. You order at the counter and the food comes out very quick. However, I find the chicken here just okay. The skin is very tasty. However, the meat of the chickens is actually very dry. I found myself needing to put lots of sauce and ketchup just to make it moist enough. If you want good chicken, you need to try Peruvian chicken. This place is good if you are in a hurry and don't have the time or can't really find anything good to eat. To say that the food here cost more than it's worth is an understatement. I came here with my husband and brother bc we were in the area and they were extremely hungry and didn't have the patience to look for a good option. We've never been to one of these chains but saw that the Yelp reviews were pretty good so decided to go. First off this place gets very busty with locals and tourists in need of a quick bite. The food is mostly southern type America platters. They charge $15 for a tilapia platter that was tasteless, salty and almost inedible, $4 for a small mac and cheese using something that taste like a chemical cheese wiz from a can (worst mac n cheese I've ever had in my life), and $20 for half roasted chicken. The rice here is pretty good, but you know it's bad when I have to say the rice was good; we all basically ate most of the rice, took a few bites, and threw out the rest. The only saving grace was that my brother actually liked his half chicken. I honestly, would never recommend this place to anyone. Don't get me wrong we love chirping chicken. Order it about 1-2 times a week. But it seems like every month the prices go up. Would understand it if was every year. But maybe it's not that. Have been buying for 12 years since I been working in the area. Always called until i learned about seamless or ordering directly from their site. Not too long ago when I ordered twice in a week but ordered different ways each time the price was different. So there's a seamless price, a website price and menu price at the store/over the phone. Today ordered a "One Dish meal" as it's called on the menu of bbq chicken thighs with a side in "one dish together". Called over the phone because I know it's cheaper. When it gets here I decide to compare all 3. Menu price was $12.00 but for some reason on the receipt was $12.75, the seamless price was $15.25 and the chirping chicken website was $15.00. So $3.25 more is the highest if you ordered on seamless. The real kicker is the burrito bowls. Calling/pick up price is $14.00 for chicken breast one, $17.00 on their site and $17.50 on seamless!!!! Like what is the difference? They can't say our because we pay a fee towards the sites because there's many other places that prices are the same and if anything they charge a $2.50 fee on seamless also even when you call in there's a delivery charge of $1.50 that the delivery guys say they get no part of. So again I'm sitting here enjoying my lunch from chirping because the food is good. But just watch how you order. Call the food in and just use your card online. Unless you don't mine paying almost $4.00 extra for no reason at all and like i said with the extra fees almost $7.00 because there's that $2.50 charge from seamless on top of the higher price. You can have a decent meal at a fair price on the Upper West Side at the Chirping Chicken. It's really close to the Natural History museum so if you are in the area and need a decent meal you can have that here. But I give it 3 stars because it's very middle of the road in terms of flavor and quality. It wasn't really great, but it wasn't bad. It was just decent, which is totally fine sometimes. My wife enjoyed it more than I did, but she is a big fan of black beans and rice about anywhere. Our son had the ribs and they were better than the chicken. I would eat those. read more

Heard good things about this place and visited. Found the food to be quick but taste and overall experience is just ok. Order area inside: disorganized and chaotic. Food came out quick (full chicken, small greek salad, mac & cheese was enough to feed two of us). Greek salad was tasty: included 2 x stuffed grape leaves; kalamata olives (pits removed); thin slice of feta; lots of tomato; couple slices of cucumber and tasty peppers. Chicken is charbroiled and tastes good. Mac & Cheese wasn't great (started to cool by the time we got to it and the cheese tasted more like a paste). Outside seating was nice but customers were confused...one family of three sat down expecting table service (there isn't any - you need to order inside). This is my third or fourth time coming to Chirping Chicken. I would normally order the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans. Today I saw they had a burrito bowl on the menu, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the grill chicken bowl, it comes wrapped in a tortilla with rice, beans, Pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. The bowl tasted alright took a little while to come out and I wished the tortilla was on the side not in the bowl. The tortilla in the bowl made it a little harder to eat, I would try to mix everything together but it would get in the way. I also had there BBQ wings, they had a nice tang to it. Prices are fair for the city, it's priced well and they give you enough food where you will be full when you leave. Food is good. Although their communication/ customer service needs major work. Most of them have very bad attitudes and are not accommodating to the customers that pay their bills. I believe that the owner would love to hear the nasty remarks made by their employees over the phone. When a delivery is running late or is wrong you are told it is your fault for not giving the right order. If the food is wrong like it is 50% of the time they make the customer feel as if they are annoying. Hopefully the owner will replace some of these toxic employees and replace them with people that take pride in their work and treat customers like they would someone giving them money read more

I'd never complain about the food in any way up until now. I order a Chicken Tenders large meal w/ fries and when it came to my apartment, I found hair in my food. When I called to ask if they can send another (I spoke to 2 guys), they told me they're not going to deliver another and to take it up with the app I ordered from. Almost 30 years ago, I would find myself meal planning around the ability to get to a Chirping Chicken. My (then) boyfriend and I were obsessed with their grilled chicken, warm pita and tomato sauce. Cut to last week. After visiting the New York Historical Society and walking back to the train, I stepped into this CC to get out of the whipping winds and see if my memories served well. It was crowded, lots of people standing around waiting for takeout. The menu had really expanded. Even though I was waiting for my son to join me, I decided to put in my order right away. I went with the classic. While waiting, I found a table to share with a couple from Canada. My order was delivered to the table first...and it was... everything I remembered it to be. How often does it happen that the build up in your memory matches reality! So, i'm really happy for so many reasons, eating, when the couple sitting with me gets their order. One ordered the same thing I did, the other picked the ribs. He says "the ribs are really good", she says "this is literally the best chicken I have ever eaten in my life!". We start up a conversation. Eventually, my son shows up. He sits with us and pores over the menu.
