Although I had been mildly curious about Chit Chat Cafe after passing by them numerous times over the years, I'd be lying if I said it ever grew into an actual urge. Sure, I'd be more than happy if I was already out this way, but never enough to drive here from SF. However, after seeing all of the recent news about the damage at the Pacifica Pier and how their sister location over there needed to be torn down, we knew we had to come out here to lend our support! And, from the looks of things when we got here, plenty of locals have been doing the same! Compared to the times I've walked by in the past, this place was packed when we dropped in for lunch. Between the handful of college kids posted up to do work, some folks reading with their coffee and tea, some families with young kids, customers like us grabbing a bite, and the steady stream of regulars and locals coming in to grab their orders to-go, it was so heartwarming so many people here to show their support. So many, in fact, that over half of their menu board of breakfast sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, and bagels was sold out by the time we ordered (or shortly thereafter)! -- CUBANO SANDWICH - Ham, Smoked Pork, Yellow Mustard, and Pickles on a French Roll...$17 When I see "Cubano", I order the Cubano and thankfully, this one was great! Despite not being super traditional (it's not pressed and the pork was pulled apart), the mix of both meats was moist and really flavorful. Plus, this was so cheesy! -- LANDSLIDE - Egg, Cheddar, Arugula, and Chipotle Aioli with Ham (+$3)...$9 Sadly, they were out of brioche buns, so I didn't get the full experience, but at least I was able to snag their last jalapeno cheddar bagel, which was pretty good. I also liked how well everything complemented each other, though, I wish the ham was spread throughout the bagel. -- HOUSE COFFEE...$3.50 (Med) Nothing special, but no less solid. The coffee felt like a medium roast and it had a nice punch of caffeine to it, even if it wasn't quite as robust as I usually prefer my cup of joe. Along with their tasty sandwiches and the friendly service (all of the workers were so nice), the other thing I like about Chit Chat Cafe is how convenient they are. Not only is there typically no shortage of tables available (they have several outside in addition to their wealth of seating inside), but there's usually plenty of nearby parking available as well. What's more, they have outlets sprinkled around the walls and even live music on weekends! Despite how I'm genuinely a fan, Chit Chat Cafe is a little out of the way from me to become part of my regular rotation of go-to coffee or sandwich spots. However, if/when I'm already coming out this way again, I absolutely wouldn't hesitate to return, especially if I've got a hankering for a Cubano (which is way more often the case than not). read more

Poor use of such an amazing location. I know the new ownership is much improved to what it was...but that doesn't make it good... I like the live music addition, wish they had better choices in music but it is clear they are trying to make it a community space. The space, however, is still dirty, unorganized, and overall not the best vibe to hangout in unfortunately. The coffee and food is poor quality. I'm not even a coffee snob, I like gas station coffee like the rest of them when there is a time and place. But if you are chiefly a Coffee Shop, the hot stuff should be at least drinkable. Wasted my money on a sandwich once, wouldn't do it again. Wish it was a place that was enjoyable, as I am walking distance and again the view would be nice to enjoy somewhere good. read more

I swear I've written a review for Chit Chat Cafe in the past. While it isn't artisan coffee, it gets the job done with a view of the ocean across the street. There are some drawbacks like the wobbly tables that never seem to be fixed, excessive dust accumulation above the bench seating, and sometimes the barista playing music too loud. However, now that I've gotten the negative out of the way, let me illuminate the positivity that this place has brought into my life ever since I first came here when I was 9 years old. The Chit Chat Cafe has been a staple for my artistic expression. A home base for my writing and drawing hobbies and a lovely stop off for weekend tunes or to people watch. It seems like there's always at least one person in there reading the newspaper while sipping coffee, or working on their laptop with their headphones on. The baristas have always been friendly, especially Tyler! Such a cool dude w/ charming charismatic energy! I have completed two stamp cards in the past 2 years at this location and the one on the pier. I remember coming here in the storm one day, in 2015, when I was on my bike, locking my bike outside and having hot cocoa & a glass of water, with the wind & rain pounding against the glass. It was such a magical experience, that I decided this would be in my all-time top three cafes in Pacifica. I really enjoy spending time here. The owners are super kind and chill. They play awesome music. The place is filled with Patina and I love that. The vibe is giving 90's coastal chill. There's something really special here so don't expect Starbucks vibes or rules. The mocha is delicious, the earl grey tea was great! My $14 egg salad sandwich had a micro layer of egg in it. Let me elaborate, the layer of DRY egg salad had the thickness of less than half of a single slice of bread, and didn't even fully cover the middle of the bread, nor did it make it to the sides of the wheat bread! The tomato was also a micro slice. The mayo was a tiny squiggle on one side of the bread. We are talking a squiggle the size you would make with 0.7 gel pen! Yes, a sandwich that looked like two thin slices of bread with nothing inside! You couldn't even taste the egg. Deplorable! Pathetic! Disgraceful! They should be ashamed of themselves. And yes, I did tip the staff a little over 10%, given that it's a counter service place and I'm a senior on a tight budget. The only saving grace was that the staff of two young women were nice, and there was very nice live music. read more

Such a cute place to hang out! nice and quiet, with a great view of the ocean from the windows. I've come here both alone and with a friend, and each time I've had an amazing experience. You can really tell the locals love it here. The food was excellent. The sandwich I ordered was on focaccia bread with jalapeños and cheese, and it was super flavorful and delicious. The staff were also extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome, especially on my first visit. I will say the prices are a bit on the higher side, which makes it harder for me as a student to come here often. However, if you're looking for a place to relax with an amazing view, it's definitely worth it. The study potential here is great, there's a good amount of outlets along the outer rim of the building near the walls, very comfortable seating, and reliable Wi-Fi. Chit-Chat Cafe is located next to Sharp Park Beach in Pacifica. I decided to stop by for a quick snack. Fairly short review incoming. I got myself the lox bagel sandwich ($10.50). I decided to run with the everything bagel. There was nothing to complain about the bagel sandwich. The bagel was a bit stale, but the lox was great and the lettuce quality was fresh. I'm docking a star off for the pricing being off. The lox bagel is listed on the menu as $9.25, but I paid $10.50 for it. It was a shame because I had exact change in cash for two items, but had to drop one of those items because of the pricing inaccuracy. The line situation may be a little cramped for some since the entrance is so close to the register. Some seating available. They also sell merch and postcards here. read more

Chit-Chat cafe has a real neighborhood vibe that sort of mimics the laid back vibe of Pacifica, where you don't mind wearing a jacket every summer because the fog and wind reminds you that you are next to the Pacific Ocean. In fact, this casual cafe is right next to the ocean...you can walk across the street and be on a sand dune cliff above the rip tides. It has that funky old hippy-ish decor and feel, and some of the frequent occupants may have lived through the famous Summer of Love centered in SF in the 1960's. The friendly new owners, Ginger and Hubs, bought this business in late 2023 and it's other location too, also called Chit Chat ( except no hyphen in the Yelp listing) also located nearby in Pacifica. I met a client here and we talked and hung out for over an hour and a half. I ordered a latte, and also got a Turkey sammich which was delicious. They toasted the bread for me. I met Ginger, and overheard that she got tix to see George Clinton's Funkadelic and Parliament, which are not Scott McKenzie singing " San Francisco" in a 60's hippie folk ballad, but OG funk bands with heavy base, beats and Synths from the '70s you'd probably see at the Oakland Coliseum. Either way, it shows the OG vibe here, a bit frozen in time like the cold wind starts to freeze you outside if you're not used to it. It's not completely social security types, however. There were a couple of 30s Asians nearby talking business, and a couple of solos minding their own interests or laptops. Several tables and chairs to chillax and to do your thing here. Oh, they do have live music still, not sure days and times, but it has been a long tradition here that continues. The new owners may sing at their concert " We like the Funk, gotta have that Funk" but the Chit- Chat Cafe is chill and perfect for quiet Chit Chat near the Pacific Ocean. read more

Such a quaint cozy little place. I used to go here all the time over 20 years ago and love it, decided to visit again- was very pleasantly pleased. Chai is delish, husband says the mocha is "good, perfect, creamy" The vibe is super casual, old surf style cafe with a presence of mixed ages. We have enjoyed a plethora of live music through the years. Many different genres, all so groovy to listen to. Sometimes there is spontaneous dancing in the cafe and folks begin to gather on a makeshift dance floor. It is unique. If A Cup Of Jazz is ever scheduled to play there... GO! Each musician is excellent at what they do w an individual cool vibe. We usually enjoy a great bagel breakfast sandwich. You can choose from an assortment of bagel flavors unless you get there late. All the choices are good though. Beach-across-the-street-air... friendly, service oriented staff. Low key, sit back and relax bring your chill vibe. Worth a stop by if you are in the area. This cafe is so cool . It was my first time here . I went on Saturday 10/5/2024. I was just walking around the area and I heard music from inside and I went in to check it out . Although the coffee was good and the people are friendly, the interior has a very rustic, ancient vibe! My friends and I were in Pacifica and wanted to grab coffee, and I'm glad we chose Chit Chat Café. It was a rainy day, but it just made it feel even cozier inside. There was live music, which we were not expecting but it was an awesome surprise. The musicians were grooving and clearly had a familiar audience before them with who I imagined were the regulars. I ordered a chai with almond milk, which was too sweet for my liking. I prefer more spicy chai, but this one at least had a chai flavor. Make sure you check the pastries, the one my boyfriend was going to get was moldy. We ended up getting a bagel instead. There was enough seating for my group of 8 and it wasn't too busy. I'd definitely come again for the chance of catching those amazing musicians again and hopefully the sun is out the next time I'm here! read more
