    Iced white mocha
    Charlene D.

Came here in the morning a little after the rush. The staff were friendly and nice. Tried their white mocha but I should tried their matcha drinks! Food selections looks delicious. I ordered a chicken apple sausage breakfast burrito. Needs a little more meat. The shop is very neat and bright vibe inside. Limited on seating. I recommend and will come again to try the matcha drinks!

Penelope's took over the old Starbucks space in this plaza. We went in on a Sunday morning around 10:30am and the line was not too long. This place has open seating, but there are only a few tables, so it can be hard to find a spot to sit if it's busy. We ended up ordering a womlette and it was super yummy! It was very unique and I would definitely get again!

Came here on a Saturday before noon and it was surprisingly empty. Workers were very nice and attentive, and fast service. My bf got a cold brew and I got an iced Cookie Monster latte with oat milk. It was delicious, I would definitely get it again but without whipped cream. My bf also had their turkey bacon panini and said it was good with their sauce on the side. I'd love to come back and try more things off their menu!

We finally made it in here. We tried coming here 2 weeks ago when they were still preparing the inside. The owner and his son informed us of the soft opening/ grand opening, but I'm not able to go since I don't get off until 2:30pm We went here on Saturday and it wasn't too busy. Maria was super helpful and patient with me. She walked me through a bunch of items so my family and I had a brunch feast in no time. Below are the items we tried: 1. Brewed coffee: My dad loved this so much he ended up getting a refill. 2. Green Tea: I'm not sure if they have their own tea in house but my aunt liked this better than another place we went to. 3. Hot chocolate w/ oat milk: My cousin enjoyed this and said it wasn't too sweet. 4. White mocha hot greek: My first time trying greek coffee. It has coffee grounds on the bottom. This was a nice treat and I took my time drinking it. I saw they have an iced one, I'll definitely be trying it next time. 5. Chorizo potato burrito: Made to order, this was warm and satisfying on a cold morning. 6. Plain croissant: My aunt inhaled this so I'm sure it was delicious. 7. Croffles powdered sugar: Not too sweet and loved the chewy texture. 8. Meat lover's womelette: My family enjoyed this combo of omelette amd waffle. I was hoping it would be a little crunchier. 9. Sugar donut: My dad inhaled this as well, so I'm sure it was amazing. 10. P's Tanzanian Peaberry pour over: Surprisingly, this was not a super strong coffee. It was fragrant and perfect, I didn't even add any milk. I never have plain black coffee. 11. Orange phyllo cake: This by far was my favorite. It reminded me of a pineapple upside down cake when I saw it. When I tasted it, it was heavenly and refreshing. I literally had my family each have a bite and I killed the rest lol. Overall, it was an amazing experience. The vibe inside was chill, and the people who worked there were so friendly and a delight to talk to. I will definitely, be back on the weekend and highly recommend this place.

Stopped by here on a Saturday morning around 10:30am. We got a Cookie Monster speciality drink, Hot Lavender Matcha, Griddle breakfast sandwich, and the Meat Lovers Womlette. The Cookie Monster was ok. I didn't really taste the cupcake and cookie dough. I only tasted the salted caramel as it seems that the cupcake and cookie dough were only used as a topping. My friend who got the matcha said it was ok but was t strong enough. We both liked the Griddle and the Meat Lovers Womlette was decent as well. Kinda pricey, but I get it. Cool ambiance and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Love this local DC spot. Gorgeous dining room that is clean and comfortable. The cafe latte was smooth, flavorful, and balanced. I liked the latte more than Starbucks. The chorizo breakfast burrito was steaming hot, had a delicious blend of egg, chorizo, potato and avocado. The sauce is tangy and had a great spiciness. The egg sandwich had a slightly gooey yolk, ham, cheese, and soft bread. Overall, this spot is great for coffee and a light meal. Friendly service with pleasant staff.

I finally got to visit Penelope's today. I went in the afternoon so I didn't want caffeine and opted for a small hot chocolate. I ordered through the app, and the drink was ready at the estimated time. It was tasty! The space itself is small with not much seating. The workers were friendly and welcoming. I'm excited to come back and try other items on the menu, including the waffle omelettes. It would be great to have more outdoor seating so I can bring my dog on our walks.

First time trying this place on a Thursday morning and it was pretty busy. There's a few seating areas, but can get pretty cramped. They were quick with my order despite how busy it was and staff seemed efficient and welcoming. I ordered the veggie womelette and was pleasantly surprised with the food presentation and taste! Not sure if they have different bread options but this one came with sourdough. I'll come back to try the other food on the menu, it looks like they have a nice variety. Price point is also not bad.

Penelope's took the place of Starbucks, this plaza's longtime occupant. The cafe sells coffee, tea, pastries, & breakfast-type dishes. The space has been transformed in their signature turquoise & white color palette with comfortable seating for roughly 20 people. Both the Latte & Gummy Bear Iced Tea we ordered were weakly flavored & not sweet enough; something to consider for those who enjoy their drinks on the sugary side. The waffle maker does a lot of the heavy lifting on their menu. The Belgian Nelly is a thick & dense waffle topped with strawberries & Nutella. We also shared a Bacon Womelette which is made up of eggs, tater tots, cheese, & bacon, & topped with green onions & sour cream. I love the uniqueness of a savory waffle. The texture is a cross between fluffy & spongey with a satisfying chew. An enjoyable mashup of my favorite breakfast flavors; of everything we tried, this is the only thing I would order again.

Heard about the new coffee shop in town and decided to stop by. We ordered the Cookie Monster and a Cinnamon Latte. We also got the mozzarella panini and the Sausage Sandwich. We enjoyed our coffee but felt like they lacked a bit of flavor. For our food, the panini was fantastic but the sausage sandwich not so much. Would love to come back and try more items off the menu.

I had no idea this place was even open until my cousins suggested we meet for coffee. But let me tell you, there was so much more than just coffee. The food here is absolutely amazing! It's not just a coffee shop-- they serve real, hearty meals! We ordered a womlette with chicken apple sausage, and it did not disappoint. I finished it off with a hot Greek mocha, which was utterly delicious. This spot used to be part of a chain with the green mermaid logo, and honestly, it always felt cold, dark, and a bit unfriendly. But this place is different--bright, full of light, and inviting. I definitely plan to come back again!

We tried two of their food items and 2 drinks. We got the Hickory Smoked Bacon burrito & Club sandwich. For drinks we got a matcha latte and iced mocha. Food & drinks came out really fast and the staff is so nice~ Overall I really enjoyed the food, just wished the tortilla of burrito wasn't so crispy/crunchy~

Truly heartbreaking to see how far we've fallen with this shop from the staff blatantly ignoring customers to gab, deceptive assembly of sandwiches, to questionable practices of food safety. I don't like to complicate things, so I will 9/10 times order something I've eaten before because I like "tried and true." Due to this, for the aforementioned 20 years, I have ordered the Little Lucca Ultimate Club on Dutch Crunch, same cheese every time and all. Imagine my surprise when the bread is still roughly the same size as always, but the meat portions are wildly lacking in comparison to past orders. Little Lucca has been featured on TV and social media for the enormous size of their sandwiches and have been heavily commended on the meat-to-price ratio of sorts for that reason. I mean, even here on their Yelp page they boast about the sizeable sandwiches. The issue now is that reducing portion size of the interior (meat), while keeping the exterior the same (bread), is very misleading when your brand is known for loading up the sandwich. Bread is delicious, but I'd hazard a guess that customers would want less bread than less meat. I am no detective, but I did notice that my total for two sandwiches was ~$33 which was less than the usual ~$39, so it could be that the reason for less meat is to keep the cost low. Still, even when it was costing me an all-time high of ~$18 for an Ultimate Club, it was worth it in the end for the portion received. For sandwiches' sake, THREE different people were involved in my Club and I was thoroughly told I was wrong to believe the ULTIMATE Club came with more than THREE strips of bacon despite it being one of the three meats of the sandwich. I attached photos to show how I'd rather pay the extra $6 to get the original sandwich back. I didn't want to argue, so after they said it a second time, I relented. Still, as I was going to pay, they opened up another sandwich to "prove" the bacon portion size. I apologized to the other customer on their (Lucca) behalf. There are two boxes of gloves always on the counters of Little Lucca, one by the bread, the other by the meat slicer. They have been there faithfully for so long, it's almost comforting to see them. I found out today that they are just for decoration as not one of the FIVE sandwich makers replaced their gloves between touching meats, surfaces (microwave/fridges/drawers/slicer), ingredients from the bucket underneath, sandwich assembly, or my personal favorite, coming from the back storage. In lieu of swapping gloves, the sandwich makers have settled on wiping the surface of their current gloves with butcher paper. When I asked at the register about this practice, I was told that is literally as they are trained to do. They are apparently told there is NO NEED to replace gloves unless they go to the back storage. That one hit a little weird for me. I promise that this is not an easy review to leave and it is so disappointing that this is where Little Lucca ends for me, but I could not be less enthused about paying less for a sandwich if it's going to be so poorly made, nostalgia be dawned. The locals already know this, but I'll just put it out there for visitors to not get duped, you will for sure catch me going to Teani's from now on. I asked for Kathy, the owner, at the register so that I could share my concern with her, but she was in the back and I was told she was busy. I didn't want to hold the flow of the business up, so I paid, thanked the person at the register and left, not to return. Few things are as much of a bummer as paying for food you didn't like.
