WOW! Probably the best waffle cone I have ever had. Also, the chocolate covered strawberry ice cream was really good. I do wish there were chunks of strawberry, but the flavor is there and it's so delicious just personally I love chunks of fruit in my ice cream. In my group we tried each others' flavors and the one that stood out to everyone seemed to be the cinnamon bun and the seasonal/special ice cream flavor Julian apple mountain berry pie. They have unique flavors and quite a bit of them. My husband, Dad, and brother in law went to pick up the ice cream for everyone and they said that everyone working there was super friendly. They said it was a cute spot. They gave a loyalty punch card which I thought was super cool too! I know that we will definitely be coming back! Highly rated and one of the best ice cream places in the country on Yelp for a reason!!! read more

We have been ride or die Mr Frosties fans since we moved to SD. We finally tonight got to go try PB Ice Cream Co. and it was absolutely amazing. Ice cream and flavors were great. Want the most authentic wholesome tasting ice cream in all of San Diego, heck in all the country! Look no further than PB ice cream!! Been coming here since it's opening a few years ago. My family has their own favs with mine being either the candy cap mushroom or the grapefruit ice, my husband loves the Dad's Mint Chip, my son's fav is the Oreo, and my daughter loves all the ice flavors. Second time here and it was just as amazing! Little man got chocolate covered strawberry this time. I tried and was amazed with the Julian apple pie flavor. And I couldn't get anything other than mint chocolate again... it's sooo damn refreshing. Hubby got both chocolate covered banana and strawberry. Service was fast and friendly, as expected. No pictures cause who has time to take pictures when u have delicious ice cream in front of you?!?! Look forward to our next drive down to PB (we live about 2 hours away) so that we can get more ice cream!!! read more

What makes for a perfect local ice cream place? - friendly service - clean shop - variety of standard and interesting flavors of delicious ice cream - variety of non-dairy delicious options - different cones and cup sizes - unlimited tastes! using metal spoons Pacific Beach Ice Cream meets all these criteria and more! We tried a lot of different flavors and in the end opted for: - kahlua espresso martini in a cup - 5*/5 - coffee toffee in a sugar cone - 5*/5 Wish we lived in PB so we could go all the time! Love too that there's a little sign that says "Go Birds!" with an explanation of what it means but not it's origins with the Philadelphia Eagles Football team (insider info - owner is from Philly!) After a long hot day at Sea World, ice cream was the only thing on our mind. My husband yelped Ice cream in the SD area and we ended up at pacific beach ice cream. They have a nice variety of gluten free and vegan ice cream. The mint n chip is out of this world delicious. Take about a fresh herb ice cream! So good that I need to go back ASAP! My husband had their chocolate covered banana and he was over the moon excited about it. Service was great and the girl was so nice that she gave me all the samples I asked for. It's a really small spot and the parking lot is small too. There's not much room to sit inside, but if you are lucky, I think they have a 4 seater table. I can't wait to go back !!! read more

Stopped by Pacific Beach Ice cream for a little night treat. We were greeted when we walked in and they had plenty of options to choose from both dairy and non dairy. They also have ice cream for your pups, pints to go and ice cream waffles. We tried Oreo, Julian's Dutch apple pie, chocolate covered strawberry. My husband and I dropped in on a rainy day looking for a sweet treat. We had no idea we were going to get such yummy, quality ice cream! Dave was amazing and although he was a little busy, he reassured us every couple minutes that he'd be right with us. The shop itself was very cute and welcoming. The ice cream is made in house with quality ingredients and unique flavors. We sampled a few ice creams and settled on a scoop of Candy Cap mushroom on a fresh waffle cone(this is a must btw) and a scoop of kahlua martini! Super delicious and fresh. It was later in the day so they were out of or running low on some flavors. Nevertheless, the two flavors we tried were incredibly rich and flavorful. A little goes a very long way. Parking is incredibly tough in Little Italy but it is worth it for gelato this good.

If there's one thing that irks me about an establishment, it's failure to communicate appropriately. They offer $7 draft beers, $9 wine, $10 mimosas, plus a handful of bites for $9. We started with the Fried Calamari Tentacles from the US Hour menu. They're served with Japanese mayo, although it tasted like there was some citrus mixed in because it had a nice tangy kick. Whatever it was, it worked really well with the crispy calamari. To drink, I ordered the Yuzu Matcha Mimosa. It had a really vibrant green color that almost reminded me of green juice. I actually enjoyed it. The matcha flavor came through without getting lost. My friend wasn't the biggest fan because they thought it leaned a little too bitter, so I think this one depends on how much you already enjoy matcha. For my entree, I ordered the Duck and Waffles ($24), which comes with crispy duck confit, a waffle, passionfruit guava sauce, and chili crunch. This was easily the highlight of the meal. The duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned just enough to let the meat shine. I also appreciated that the chili crunch actually had some heat instead of just being there for texture. The waffle was light and fluffy. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combinations, so the powdered sugar paired with the rich duck was enough to win me over. The passionfruit guava sauce was the only part I wasn't completely sold on. It wasn't bad by any means. I just think it's one of those flavors that comes down to personal preference. My husband and I stumbled across PB Ice Cream Co while heading to Pueblos for our anniversary dinner. We both have a serious sweet tooth--I'm all about ice cream, and he loves shakes. After dinner, I told him I wanted ice cream and mentioned the spot we passed earlier. Funny enough, when he Googled "ice cream nearby," he found the exact same place! We walked over, and I was so excited. They have tons of flavors to choose from, but Oreo is my favorite, so I went with that. Of course, my husband got the Oreo shake. We ended up trying each other's orders, and oh my gosh--they were amazing! We've had Oreo ice cream and shakes at a bunch of places, but this one hits differently. It's so good, we've been craving it ever since. I later found out they make all their ice cream in-house, and it totally shows. The flavor is unreal--it's rich, creamy, and has this unique kick that I can't get enough of. Now, we're basically regulars. Tonight, we wanted it again--at 8:45 PM, right before they closed at 9. The lady who assisted us tonight seemed uninterested and unfriendly. She didn't smile or greet us. When I asked a question about one of the flavors, her response felt dismissive, almost like she didn't enjoy her job. It was disappointing, especially given how great everything else was. Love this place! First, all of the ice cream is home made in the back of the store and the flavor and smoothness are impeccable. Dave the owner concocts the flavors himself - my favorites are Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Julian Apple Pie, Dad's Mint Chip and Pink Grapefruit Ice. Dave is very passionate about ice cream making, works very hard at it and it makes all the difference in the finished product. Once he made our waffle cone right in front of us out of batter. They also offer complimentary pup cups, which is a little scoop of vanilla ice cream on a cone. My dog absolutely loved it and devoured it! Parking on the side streets can be a little tricky depending on the time of day, but it's worth it. Overall, the ice cream is phenomenal, the service is incredibly fast, and the prices are hard to beat. If you're looking for great ice cream without spending a fortune, this spot is definitely worth checking out!

Walking in, I was immediately reminded of a froyo shop because of the layout and self-serve setup, and honestly, I kind of loved that! We planned to share one cup, but my husband got a little carried away and filled it so high with soft serve that there was barely any room left for toppings. No complaints from me, though! It meant we got to really enjoy the ice cream itself. We tried a few flavors that I remember as a hazelnut chocolate, a cinnamon swirl, and what I think was a vegan vanilla (don't quote me on the exact names). Every flavor we got was delicious, and the texture was spot on: smooth, creamy, and satisfying and I didn't feel heavy afterwards. I added just a tiny spoonful of sesame seeds on top, which ended up being a surprisingly good pairing. The employee working that morning was friendly and welcoming, and my husband and I had a great time sharing our giant cup of soft serve on our little mini-date. Between the great flavors, fun self-serve experience, and lighter options, I can absolutely see why this place has a following. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in PB. My favorite combination is the pistachio with the coffee gelato. The two flavors complement each other perfectly and are a must-try if you're deciding between flavors.
