Drove there on a Sunday from Mililani and got there at 10:30 but they were closed. Hours listed for Sunday were 10 am to 3 pm. Go figure.

First impression when my cousin brought over the variety pack of scones: they look nice, a little dry but par for the scone course, but the almond one blew my mind. It was so almond flavored and was not dry. I craved another one so I went back a few months later when I was in the area. I bought one (since they are very expensive) and excitedly took it home to try. Unfortunately it was not like I remembered: it was dry and not very almond-y. Maybe they just had an off day. Parking is also tough you have to go to the lot and pay. Hopefully if I go again I will try something else that is good. The tea sandwiches are amazing! We initially came into town for some errands, and stumbled upon Chocolate +Vanilla bakery. We grabbed a bunch of things ube scone, ube butter mochi and variety pack of bread pudding and variety pack of their tea sandwiches. I absolutely loved the bead pudding , if it was warmed up with ice cream omgggg. I also really enjoyed their lobster tea sandwiches. I would definitely eat here again whenever in the area. It may sound a bit unusual to seek out a lobster roll at a bakery known for "chocolate" + "vanilla", but that's what I used to do. Cupcakes and macarons don't really catch my attention. But under the radar, petite, and reasonably priced, the lobster roll was a good impulse pickup on the way home. Sadly, owner Jill has moved on from that savory treat. But ... a tea sandwich set of one lobster and two truffle egg salad sandwiches, no crusts, of course. She's got my attention again. The scones are nicely glazed but not overly sweet. Interesting flavors like guava and ube will catch your attention. I find them good the next morning slightly warmed up and consumed with my morning beverage. Bread puddings with local flavors are a treat. Right now, her chewy butter mochi riffs and moist sweet quick breads are what's popular. Gau mochi? Add chocolate? Yum. Ube banana bread. Again, add chocolate chips! Moist and lick-your-finger-clean good. Take-away only, and the savory sandwiches are better if you take them home to let then get closer to room temperature. When I'm in the mood for a small dessert or looking to gift something sweet to a friend, I'll come to Chocolate + Vanilla. They have a nice assortment of butter mochi, with rotating flavors. The ube and guava are both guaranteed to please all butter mochi enthusiasts. It's a bit pricey at $7.99 for four pieces, but they're packaged nicely and are great for gifting. I've been here multiple times and everything I've tried has been really good. I've had both classic and ube creme brulee, bread pudding, and packaged cookies. Creme brulee of course was good but I was pleasantly surprised how good the bread pudding is as it is probably my favorite and I've tried a lot of bread pudding. The interior is super moist which I like and the creme anglaise sauce that comes on the side just takes it to the next level. Even the cookies are really good! Chocolate + Vanilla is a small unassuming hidden gem located on 12th st. in Kaimuki just a few doors down from Otto Cake. I am so glad that we found this little bakery because not only do they have yummy treats for us humans but they also sell yummy treats for our fur babies (my dog told me). I took home a variety 6pk of scones for my humans and a small bag of peanut butter crisps for my fur baby. My favorite flavored scone was the almond cookie. It was so soft, almost cake like and very moist. It tasted just like an almond cookie! Second favorite was the strawberry flavor, third was the ube and last was the blueberry. The strawberry flavor wasn't too sweet and didn't taste artificial, it was also very soft and moist. The ube had a very rich ube flavor and a nice sugary sweet glaze, it wasn't as soft or moist as the other two flavors but still good. The blueberry was the most disappointing. It had lots of fresh blueberries and tasted good but was very dry and crumbling. My fur baby loved his peanutbutter crisps! He gobbled down 3 in the blink of an eye! Been wanting to try this place out for the longest time! This cute bakery shop is located in the heart of Kaimuki, right across the street from 12th Ave Grill. With street parking located up front or around the back, there's no excuse for you not to stop by. When we got there, one of the workers greeted us promptly, there were no other customers before or after us, so at least it gave us some time to choose between what we wanted to order. Opted for the strawberry scone, blueberry French toast scone, strawberry sweet bread bread pudding and the classic ube and vanilla soft serve. Everything was fresh and delicious, but nothing specifically made me go wow, I gotta have this again type of feeling. I really wanted to like Chocolate + Vanilla Bakery. It's a quaint shop located in Kaimuki and sells different types of scones and butter mochi. I ended up going with a lilikoi scone and butter mochi. My friend had the lemon blueberry scone and cheesecake butter mochi. The lilikoi scone (3/5) was just so-so. It was very dense and not as flaky as I would have liked. The lilikoi glaze was sweet and slightly reminiscent of lilikoi. The lilikoi butter mochi (1/5) was terrible. It tasted like something artificial and not at all like lilikoi. In fact. It was so bad I couldn't eat it. Such a bummer because lilikoi is my favorite! Both are seasonal. Prices are not cheap because 2 scones & 2 butter mochi ran me over $20. The shop is really cute and the person helping us at the register was very nice and helpful. That is why I'm bumping my review up to 3 stars purely because she was so friendly. Parking is either street or the adjacent public lots. With all the good bakeries in Oahu, I just can't see us returning. I arrived to Chocolate and Vanilla Bakery on a Saturday morning about 10 minutes before opening to find a short line already queued up! Wow, must be good! When the bakery opened and they rolled up our shade, those of us in line outside peered in at all of the goodies on display. It's hard to choose what to get with such a wide assortment! I got what I came for, which were their limited time gau mochi as well as some ginger chicken sandwiches to take to my friend. I really wanted to love this place but it was mediocre at best. I've been following them on IG for ages and finally stopped by for some cream cheese butter mochi and an ube scone and neither were amazing. Especially for the price!! I don't know how 1 scone and a small package of 4 tiny pieces of butter mochi equals almost $12, but it did. If it tasted amazing I'd be happy to spend whatever they're asking... but the cheesecake butter mochi did not taste like cheesecake at all. It hardly tasted like anything TBH. The ube scone was dry and tasteless also. I think there was supposed to be cream cheese inside but it had a hard thin white layer that just tasted like icing. Sconees next door and diamondhead grill are way better. Everything was not too sweet which is normally my preference but it's like they left the flavor off too. Here's a little bakery where you could easily spend some coin! We were looking for some unique desserts to bring over to our friend's house as a thank you for hosting us for dinner. Chocolate + Vanilla Bakery didn't disappoint with their vast array interesting creations! We had to wait a while to get in due to COVID restrictions only allowing one party at a time. The gentleman in front of us left with a giant bag of goodies, so we were extra excited to get inside and have the place to ourselves for the picking! They have so many options of fun-sounding desserts, it's hard not to go overboard! We ended up getting the blueberry lemon scone, the ube bread pudding, the ube creme brulee, guava butter mochi, coffee jelly drink with ice cream (my favorite!) and an orange jelly drink with ube/vanilla soft serve. The scone was good but VERY sweet. I like mine more on the biscuit-y side. Without the frosting on top, the scone would have been very good. The bread pudding was good, and that's what we ended up bringing to our friend's house. The ube creme brulee was EXCELLENT and well worth tacking onto our order. I had never had coffee jelly before, and the addition of vanilla soft serve was genius - and delicious! I thought they were a new bakery, but it turns they've been around for years! They never had a sign out front and just now have a window decal and chalkboard on the sidewalk. Trying to see more eateries around kaimuki and stumbled upon this little gem. Located right near Waialae this little store front only allows one customer in at a time. I really wanted to try they little ube cookies for my daughter but saw they also had almond cookies, so I got some too. The almond cookies were big for one bite but so delicious they practically melted in my mouth. Reminded me of the butter pecan meltaways I get from Costco at Christmas except almond flavored. My daughter loves her ube cookie especially the icing that is drizzled over it. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are in the mood for a sweet treat. Or need a couple biscuits for your dog. Parking is readily available right now from the paid parking lot across the street, to metered parking in front and on the side of the shop. I just made my second visit and have been pleased by the goods and customer service; it is also nicely organized and clean inside. Last Spring, believe I had a panna cotta and bread pudding. Yesterday picked up Strawberry Guava (for my mom) bread pudding and was tempted by the Ube + Vanilla swirl soft serve. The soft serve was good and refreshing as it was a scorching afternoon. Vanilla was excellent and the ube - while I have not had many ube flavored food - was pretty good. Lady who helped me (owner?) was friendly. Friends have told me about Chocolate + Vanilla for ages. "It's amazing!" "So ono!" "Drooling at the nomz!" I figured that I'd eventually get around to it and was delighted to stumble upon the storefront. Service was quick, efficient, and the salesperson was very nice. Since the place is small, it's probably best to wait outside if another patron is ordering inside. Someone came in while I was there and it felt like a tighter squeeze. Although I considered buying more, I 'd already indulged on cake, mochi and coco puffs the day before. A bigger motivation for not getting other goodies was because I just came from a dental appointment not even thirty minutes prior. If it wasn't for those two factors, I know that I would've walked out with a box full of pastries. I was catching a flight that day so I forgot to try my pandan bread pudding before departing to the airport. My loss was my grandmother's gain. She told me that it was 美味しい, delicious in Japanese. My mother told me that grandma indulged so much that she lost her appetite for breakfast AND for her afternoon snack! I spotted Chocolate + Vanilla on my way to another dessert place down the street. I've passed this place before but it was always closed. I did a little peek when I was walking down the street to the other place. It didn't look like they had much but they did have ube stuff which perked my interest. After I went to the other place I stopped by. The cashier came out right away to greet me. There weren't that many things in the display but really I can't blame them. It was 5:15 or 5:30 and they close at 6:00. I asked the cashier what was popular and she said the ube butter mochi and the matcha butter mochi. I love ube so I got one of the ube butter mochi. I also saw that they had ube scones. I had to try one of those too. I didn't get a chance to eat it until the next morning. The ube butter mochi was so good. And it wasn't like regular butter mochi where it is so sweet. It was perfect and you could really taste the ube in there. I ate half and decided to share it with my sister. She loved it as well. The scone was equally as delicious. Scones to me are hit or miss. They can either be super dry or super scrumptious. Most times scones are dry and I don't like them. But this scone was perfect. Stumbled upon this cute bakery near my work place, a little hole in the wall. I ordered the coffee jelly drink with oatmilk which was sooooo yummy. I'm a sucker for boba, jellies and that kinda drinks AND I love oatmilk so this was a heavenly combo. I liked that it had no sugar and was just the coffee jelly and oatmilk. They had about 4 selections of scones which were all pretty and appealing to look at. There was Ube and Blueberry lemon which was on the regular menu so I opted to try that next time. They also had an almond cookie flavor and strawberry which were "seasonal" so I got the almond cookie since the employee told me that was her favorite. The scone was the size of my palm and it was incredibly crumbly. The flavor was good but I especially loved the glaze. I got both for about $8 which isn't bad. I stopped by today to check out what they have. I guess I didn't see the sign outside that says 1 person in line. There was another customer checking out before me. I was then scolded by the owner that it's only one person in the store at a time (not asked to stand outside, scolded). I really debated leaving because of how rude she was to me, but decided to stick it out because I still wanted to support them. After the customer in front of me left, I then got a blueberry/lemon scones and an Ube scone. As one of their anniversary specials, the girl at the register asked if i wanted a soft serve ice cream for 99 cents. Of course! I opted for the Ube/vanilla swirl. In addition to these sweets, they also gave me two hand dipped Oreos with "6" written on them! So cute! Overall, decent baked goods and yummy soft serve. In 1973 Foster Sylvers sang "Big Things Come In Small Packages. Move forward to 2020 and inside this small bakery makes some big tasty treats. The day I went in they had everything from scones, butter mochi muffins, panna cotta, brownies, cupcakes, some jello looking things (sorry I'm all jello out so I didn't pay attention) and there was three things that caught my eye. They were the Bread Pudding ($5.25), Butter Mochi ($7.99) and the Creme Brulee (vanilla bean $3.99 and ube $4.99). I bought two out of the three. Can you guess what they were? Well I got the Ube Butter Mochi. One of my good friends makes butter mochi and it is good but he never made me a ube flavored one so I had to try it. I stuck it in my fridge when I got home and as you know the mochi got a little hard. I don't like to use a microwave and I didn't want to steam it so I ate it cold. I could not believe how good it tasted even being in my fridge. The ube flavor was there but not overpowering. And the mochi was still good. I didn't get to eat the bread pudding yet as I'm going to eat it with my better half. I have a feeling it is going to be a wow moment. Speaking about wow moments, I got to try the ube and vanilla soft serve. From the very first lick, i was hooked. Yes my eyes rolled to the back of my head. What the real shocker to me was this soft serve is dairy free. Yes dairy free. I have a bunch of friends who are lactose intolerant so they will love this for sure. You can get vanilla or ube or do the swirl which is a combination of the two. I can't wait to come back and try the creme brulee. They make the traditional vanilla bean and a ube one. I used to make a pretty good one back in the day. The owner told me that it might change me life so I definitely will come back and try one or maybe both of them. As I was receiving my change, our hands touched Not a super huge deal but with this pandemic better safe than sorry! The bakery products themselves are really sweet, but not too much! I got the ube butter mochi (they recommend it since it's most popular), chocolate chip bread pudding, and blueberry cream cheese bread pudding. The butter mochi was a little too dense for my liking but that could just be preference. The bread pudding was great though! Especially if you warmed it up a little first. Definitely does not need the dressing, it's sweet enough. I was also eyeing the scones as they looked AMAZING, but decided I was already getting enough as is. I decided to stop in today to see what they had and I am so glad that I did! Being that it was a hot day, while the scones looked incredible what really called to me was the soft serve. I love vanilla soft serve and this absolutely hit the spot. The only thing I wish was that the spoon was maybe bamboo or something other than wood because the wood spoon has a strong flavor that was distracting me from the soft serve.
