It's a cute little place right at the end of Downtown Denville. We didn't notice anywhere to sit and eat so we took it with us for later. Everything looked very good and the staff was nice. We got a Madeline and I forgot the name of the other item we picked. We would go back again.

An exquisite French bakery in Denville, New Jersey. We splurged on magnificent Croissants: Nutella, Chocolate Almond, Hazelnut, and Strawberry Chocolate. Wow! Superb!

    Temptations abound !

I'm enamored with everything I have tried but ladder I saw something new and it has become my new favorite. It's a croissant muffin combo and when I gave my wife a taste, she too became a fan. Try one, you'll thank me later.

Did we really need another reason to visit Denville? Yes we did! This is the French pastry shop we didn't know we needed! Pastries are a thing of absolute beauty. And even better is the taste! No need to book that flight to Paris. The owners are delightful and you haven't lived until you've tried one of their flattened croissants! The only downside is that it's quite small and there's no place to sit inside, however the town does provide plenty of outdoor seating for that latte and tiramisu croissant!!! Reasonably priced too. (Soon to be opening a much larger space with indoor dining.)

Today was the first time I stepped into Chocolatine (though I have had a couple croissants previously) and all I can say is "Wow" I'm no world traveler, but I have had some amazing pastries in Rome and Portugal and let me tell you, they know what they're doing at Chocolatine. As someone trying to lose weight I probably should NOT have gone in, but I'm hooked. The place is small, and only has takeout (I would have loved to have sat down with an espresso, but alas...you can't), but the staff are super friendly and helpful and the options can be overwhelming (I wanted one of everything). We simply overindulged - Wifey got a salmon croissant and a chocolate raspberry croissant and I got a croque monsieur and a chocolate almond croissant - so we both got a savory and a sweet. The croque monsieur - think a baked ham and cheese with an extra slice of cheese melted on top. And the salmon croissant was a regular (but long) croissant with Boursin cheese and salmon on top. We had both planned to eat half of our sweet treats and save the rest for later with tea or coffee...NOPE- couldn't out it down. Again...I should never have walked in...I may be doomed

Look at the air pockets! Could use another baton though.

A proper French bakery in Denville, who knew?! The viennoiserie prices are fair, and the croissants are well proofed and buttery. The chocolate croissant could use another baton of chocolate though. We enjoyed the raspberry, chocolate croissant more. We found the dough to be airier as well. The plain croissant was ok, the dough was slightly tougher, but they don't skimp on the butter from the look of all the air pockets between the layers. We tried the almond croissant hot out of the oven. There was a lot of frangipane. I would like a little less as it gets too sweet, but that's personal preference. Overall a solid bakery and a fantastic addition to Denville shopping area.

I saw this place on Yelp a few days ago and knew I had to visit soon. Yesterday I stopped by around lunchtime to check it out. This is a small store with all the pastries in a display case. Everything looked decadently delicious! I chose an "Opera Cake" and "Vanilla Bourbon". My wife and I had them in the evening and they were fantastic! My favorite was the Opera with its espresso/coffee taste. They also sell little beignets for $1 each. I picked up a raspberry one for a quick snack. Loved it! The star of this place is the croissants. They looked so good. I'll be making a return visit soon to try those out! The woman serving was very helpful. Stop by and have a taste of Paris in Denville!

Honestly this place is a hell of a drive for me. While looking for new coffee shop I found this place. If you have seen my reviews I will for whatever the reason drive an hour for new places. So yeah, I did that. These pastries were so pretty I just had to come and see. It's a very small place with no seating area and while they do have an espresso machine, it wasn't the most inviting and it wasn't really the reason I was here.. So, I stuck to the good looking pastries and snuck them in to a coffee shop in another town It was as delicious as they look.

Love it!!! I had been seeing this place popping up in my social media and I was like I need to go check it out!!! We went in the afternoon (30 minute) before they are closing.. so the lady behind the counter apologized to us saying whatever we see is what they have left!! I mean it's not their fault!! But they really do care about it their customers!! They have so many different kind of favor croissant.. plain, double chocolate, strawberry (never heard of!!) and I am sure they have other fancy one that was sold out!! The plain croissant was soo delicious -- So flaky, yum... my son ate almost the whole thing.. strawberry was good.. very interesting... it's like strawberry jam inside croissant!! I need to go back to try other pastries!! And since they have a small private parking in the back!! No need to worry about looking for a spot in town!!

Happened to stumble upon this place when I was in the area. Their window display caught my attention so I went inside to check it out. OH. MY. GOD!!!! Macarons, pastries, croissants GALORE. I was in awe of how beautiful everything in the case was. It was hard to pick just a few items to get. The woman behind the counter was extremely sweet and talked to me about where everything is made, what's popular, and what she personally enjoys. Can't wait to come back to try some more.

Have tried their fantastic baked goods at the Sparta Farmers Market and finally had a chance to stop by the store. Everything I have tried has been GREAT! My wife is a huge fan of the Nutella Croissant, it has become her go to item. The GIANT THICK Chocolate Chip cookie was wonderful. Had the Brioche roll with dinner and it to was fantastic. Basically go here, get stuff, all of it has been great!

These are the best French pastries in town, and probably the best French pastries this far west of Manhattan. You can see the work that went into the presentation of each good. You don't get layers like this without folding in the butter over and over again. That's what disappoints me in the end about the chocolate croissant I got. It deserved to be crunchier and flakier than it came out. I was thrilled by the selection inside: macarons, Nutella croissants, juices in clear glass containers, and tempting pastries, like the opera in my photos. There's always customers in there when I drive by. Chocolatine is destined to be a Denville destination.

Such beautiful pasties! We got both the hazelnut and the raspberry beignets, a pistachio croissant roll and a raspberry and chocolate croissant. The hazelnut beignet was a bit more dense than the raspberry. I loved the raspberry--it was like a mini jelly donut. The pistachio croissant roll was heavy, due to the filling. The filling paired with the crispy layered outside was a nice juxtaposition. The raspberry croissant was not very raspberry tasting, and there was just a little bit of chocolate inside, but the parts that did have both were yummy.

The ambiance fit the name perfectly -- subtle hints of blue throughout that tied right back to "d'Azur." We started with a glass of bubbly and focaccia served with three spreads -- the olive tapenade stood out over the butter. For the first course, I had the duck confit salad -- the duck portion itself ran a little light, but the flavor balance was excellent: sweetness from the strawberries, bitterness from the arugula, saltiness from the goat cheese, and umami depth from the duck confit. It's BYOB, we brought both red and white wine to pair across the meal. The table shared the Branzino with French chard, which was outstanding, and the steak frites, which was exceptional and perfect medium rare. I had the duck breast with mushroom, paired with a Pinot Noir -- a great match, and that same Pinot Noir worked beautifully with the steak too. To finish, we shared three desserts: crème brûlée, chocolate truffles with strawberry and pistachio, and a cognac cake topped with a chocolate whipped mousse, walnuts, and strawberry. Tough call on a favorite, but the cognac cake stole the show. Throughout dessert, the staff kept checking in without ever feeling intrusive -- a small thing, but it stood out. A great night out with drink, food, and cousins from start to finish. The service alone is worth going back for. Highly recommend.

Cool atmosphere, great energy, and good food! I also got super lucky with Hailey as my waitress. She sold me on just about every item on the menu... to the point where I completely handed over the decision-making to her. Yup, that's right, I told her what I liked and trusted her to pick my three dishes. And listen, when your name is on the menu for crafting a cocktail, I'm going to trust you to pick my meal too! Now for the food: the grilled octopus was amazing. Great flavor, perfect texture, and a really nice balance with the lentils. The shishito peppers were delicious, and the sauce that came with them added the perfect pop of flavor. The beet salad, however, was a little underwhelming. Unfortunately, it didn't have much flavor, so that one left me a bit disappointed. And then there was dessert. Oh man! Hailey did it again. She brought out the sweet corn cheesecake. Sounds weird, I know, but I had to try it. And yes, it definitely had sweet corn! It was a little too weird for my taste buds, but I'm glad I tried it.... Then came the Madeleines. Bite-sized, warm, and absolutely delicious. Fair warning: if you don't tell them to take the bowl away, you WILL eat the entire thing. Man oh man...so good!!! Overall, a really fun experience with a great atmosphere, good food, and a waitress who genuinely made the experience memorable. Kudos to Hailey for the great service and for knowing exactly what to recommend! She definitely made my night.

Also, the portion sizes are on the smaller side. As for the food, I thought it was good, but I didn't love it, especially considering the price. We ordered the crab cake, burger, crème brûlée, and venison. The crab cake and crème brûlée were both beautifully presented and delicious.
