I stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon with my friends after our friend suggested this restaurant. We were able to find parking very easily and did not have to pay which is rare in this district! I ordered the chicken bowl and they were able to accommodate my no rice request and keeping sauce on the side and we snacked on some yuca frita while waiting for our mains. My friend got a chorizo taco and she said the taste was amazing and her mouth exploded with flavor. My bowl was also great and I would definitely order it again since it's nothing like chipotle and the food came out super quickly. They seem to have great specials everyday and even a happy hour! The inside didn't have as many tables but they did have an outdoor patio portion and there was a large jug of water for water cups as well. I also enjoyed their in house hot sauce which added the perfect amount of spice to my meal. If I'm in the area I will stop here 100%. Thank you for a great meal! read more

This is a little hole In the wall taco shop with a surprisingly spacious back patio. I only got one taco because we came from another dinner, this was just a night cap because it's how I roll. You order at the counter and go seat yourself anywhere. They'll bring your tacos out to you. I got the pescadito taco. The fish has a nice and crisp batter, it stayed light and wasn't too oily. The fish was super flakey and moist. Everything on this taco worked so well together. The pickled red onion helps cut through the richness of the guac and fattiness of the batter on the fish. The pineapple is a burst of freshness and sweetness that live a up the whole thing while also balancing sharpness from the onion. If you can here hungry, you're probably putting away 4 tacos. If you are a normal functioning human and don't eat like it's your last meal, 2-3 will probably be good. So you're looking at $14-$28 on food. For me, on an empty stomach, this would be pushing $30 for tacos which IMO is a bit steep (and let's be honest, if I'm that hungry I might make a bad decision and get more than 4). That said, it was really good. I wish they had some combo options though 3 for $16, 4 for $20 etc. read more

I just went for my favorite brisket nachos after visiting the Norton Museum. I hadn't been on a Friday night since they had set up the bar in the garden out back. They have a live DJ spinning vinyl on Fridays. It was really fun to have wonderful nachos with homemade pineapple salsa, pickled onions and brisket. Friendly service. Talk about a diamond in the rough! This place is a home run. From decor to a narrow menu, but with daily specials that are ever-changing, you t feel limited. The integration of flavor, texture, and colors of the food, combined with the casual atmosphere and an outdoor patio with music and more, made this a home run. My partner had a grilled swordfish taco, and I had a pulled pork taco. We shared the corn salad. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was disappointing. It is unassuming, but don't be fooled. Small hidden gem with food that's packed with flavor! There's a small seating area when you walk in but a bright outdoor area right through the door. Very efficient ordering - scan QR code for menu and order at the counter. Food is made fresh and fast. The taco selection is great, some sort of protein for all foodies. Unique appetizers and both hot and cold options. We tried the shrimp ceviche which was different than what we normally have, more soupy than just sauce. It was delicious. Lots of shrimp and plantain/nacho chips to share. Our platter of assorted tacos came on double soft tortillas. My favorite was the fried fish which was light, refreshing and citrusy. Cholo Soy is recovering from COVID nicely, after taking a big quality hit during the peak of the pre-vaccinated pandemic, and a curiosity wave of DDD devotees.. The kitchen hums on all eight cylinders now, cranking I made a happy recommendation to the DDD peeps about this place, which, in part, got them to fire up Fieri enough that he showed up and did an episode. Then post COVID I had several REALLY bad experiences. I avoided for a while. Came back, one day, to see that they had got things back on track, and were rocking the house. Not what you're really expecting coming in but damn, them tacos were good. Those toppings they put on the tacos are on point. Not your "traditional tacos" but whatever version this is, they are really good. The service was great as well. They got like 8 people in the kitchen and great service at the register. Inside only sits 8 and outside about 20. If you want to stay out of the heat good luck getting a spot inside. Parking sucks big time here but I'd come back any day and walk a block if I have to. I had long wanted to try this place, so as I was passing it last week I decided to do a u-turn and see if I could find parking. Luckily I did -- it was a very hot Saturday early afternoon, and I was the only customer for most of my time there. I knew I wanted a margarita after seeing it promoted as house made, but I was pretty disappointed to see they cost $10, especially considering it's not made with tequila! I tried one, but there's no way I was paying $10 more for another. Good, but on the small side and not that strong. Their food is pretty pricy as well, just as some other yelpers have pointed out. I had the special on the blackboard -- ancho chili chicken tacos. I wanted to order more, but there was nothing inexpensive that I could add on. I must say the two ancho chili chicken tacos were fantastic. Really delicious. The sauce -- wow. And the tortilla -- I hadn't had one that good ever! I could have sat there and ordered another drink and the same dish again. The employees were very friendly. If you go and see that same special, I highly recommend it. read more

I have a Yelp collection if you want to follow along with my adventures. The show first aired in 2006 and it is on its 47th season of Guy's road trips across America where he highlights some of America's most underrated and delicious local eats. Guy Fieri visited Cholo Soy Cocina for the episode Pasta, Potatoes, and Pescatarian which aired in April 2021 when Vanilla Ice brought Guy to try his favorite ceviche. Cholo Soy Cocina is located on Antique Row in a building formerly occupied by Arthur Roberts Barber Shop. It was opened in 2016 by chef Clay Carnes, the former executive chef at The Grille steakhouse in Wellington and Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen champ. The tiny, street-food eatery is a cozy spot that serves what Carnes calls "neo-Andean, Ecuadorean" bites that was inspired by his time as a hotel chef in Cuenca, Ecuador. The name of the restaurant comes from an Ecuadorian slang term for the country's indigenous people, Cholo means mixed or ghetto. Specials are posted on a board when you walk in. The menu is comprised of tacos and Latin street food made with locally grown produce and top quality meat and ingredients. Signature dishes include tacos, yucca fries, ceviche, churros, and a short rib rice bowl. House made hot sauce is kept in a bowl at the counter. They also serve dessert churros, craft beers on draft, and house made margaritas. I was at a nearby museum and decided to come by for a snack when I finished. There are a few tables inside that were occupied but they have a cute courtyard with tables and colorful graffiti style murals behind the restaurant and it was the perfect day for sitting outside. After ordering and paying at the counter they brought my food outside to me when it was ready. I had a delicious steak taco made with grilled sliced steak, chimichurri aioli, pickled peppers, queso fresco served on a handmade white corn tortilla. With amazing flavors and great prices it is easy to see why this has become such a local favorite. read more

At first I thought the food was pretty pricey ($7.5 for a street taco) but the food was SO good. The brisket was enough to split up to make two small tacos since they doubled up on the little tortillas. The brisket had one big piece of fat but other than that it was all perfectly lean and marinated. The mahi was not as much food but had amazing tropical sauce and avocado that made it so tasty. The corn salad was unique, not what I was expecting when I tasted it. But the corn was at least very fresh off the cobb. The churros were just okay but I think it's because I waited too long to eat them after I took the food home. I felt bad ordering shortly before closing time but the staff were all very nice about it. The two girls who took my order were nice & the cook that gave me the food to go was super nice too. I tried the pork belly and fried fish tacos here. The pork belly was my favorite. The fried fish taco was more bland, but not too bad. The service was good. The seating area is mostly outside and has good artwork. There is street parking available. The prices of the food is higher than usual for tacos, but it's probably due to the area. read more

Came here per a friend's recommendation and it ended up being such a great spot! Located on Dixie Hwy, this spot is definitely pulling over to get tacos to go or to dine in. They have about 4 tables that seat two people per table but you can push them together in case you have a larger party. There is also a large patio in the back but this summer heat is unbearable these days so we opted for the inside seating. The inside is small but cozy, there is an open kitchen so you can see what's going on behind the counter. We ordered the chips and guac to start and for tacos we ordered the pollo, brisket, Pescadito frito, and vegetarian. The chips and guac were so delicious! We love the tacos as well. They have a self serve water station which was helpful after we added some of the hot sauce on the tacos. The pollo taco was so moist and had so much flavor. They definitely don't skimp out on the meat portions. It was a big taco! Then I had the brisket taco to follow, which was my favorite. It has a Smokey, sweet, and bold flavor which gets mild out from the guac on top. It had such a unique flavor which made it really memorable. Almost like a brisket meets molé. Then I had to try what Guy had, the pescadito Frito taco. The breading was so light and the fish was cooked perfectly. The pineapple salsa cut through the fattiness of the deep fry. Overall, I'm so happy we tried this spot! Loved how comfortable the staff made you feel and how great the service was. Put this on your list of places to go when visiting West Palm Beach! read more

Had been wanting to try this place since Guy Fieri featured it on his show and finally got the chance last Saturday afternoon. It was a rainy day and we had to sit outside because the few inside tables were full, but the outside area was covered and had a fun vibe. We ate chips and guac, carne asada tacos, and a brisket bowl. Plus one of their margaritas (think it is wine based). Everything was really yummy and fresh. Only downside is it seemed a bit expensive for the amount you get. Will definitely go back when in the area. read more

I had been waiting to come here for awhile and unfortunately I was highly disappointed. The place is always packed and today was no different. We started off with the chips and guacamole. The chips were overly salty which made them almost impossible to eat. Then we had tacos which we had Shrimp BLT, steak, chorizo and a cheeseburger one. This is a jewel on antique row. I love the small intimate fell this place has. The service is pretty simple and quick you order at the register and they bring it to your table pretty straightforward. The queso dip was delicious. Also had the 3 different tacos which were the pork belly, shrimp and steak. They were all outstanding! The food here is very different! It has a little modern twist on the food and the restaurant itself! I love the vibe the inside gives off! The food is always tasty but the prices are up there.. the specials quesadillas are 12$ and you honestly don't get a lot.. they are two 6 inch tortillas... the tacos are quite pricey too.. around 7$ per taco. I would say it would maybe be worth it if they had a craft beer selection or something other than sodas, maybe even a cheap appetizer selection.. homemade guacamole maybe chips.. to battle those prices and make it worth it. Usually when food comes out too fast I find it questionable because I feel like it's precooked but this place is really just that fast! I came here for a day trip and have been dying to come here since I saw it on guy fieri's tv show. I obviously had to get the shrimp ceviche and this cheesy dip. I'm giving 5 stars solely based on food since I did take out. I chose 2 tacos-chef choice vegetarian (Brussel sprouts) and octopus chorizo. A bag of tortilla chips and kids quesadilla. As a chef myself, I 100% appreciate proper technique. Creative execution as well, but you need to know how to properly roast (or fry) Brussel sprouts, and these were done perfect to create a great taco. The sauce, the toppings, and the shell were done the right way. Of course, I'll pay a couple of dollars extra for great quality. I've had a Mediterranean dish with both octopus and chorizo before, so I knew this would be a good combo. Chips were seasoned and in half moon shapes. The owner/chef was kind enough to give me a sauce (I love to dip my chips) upon my request. My daughter enjoyed her quesadilla, and it came with fries. I'm used to the sweet Grandma's over at Riva's in Wallingford CT that just have the classic recipes in their veins and the spice factor.... but I appreciated the food tonight...it was just different than Grandma's. read more
