My first time trying coconut hot pot and I've clearly been missing out! The coconut broth was light and sweet, and way easier on the stomach than a regular hot pot. We visited on one of the coldest days, and the restaurant was PACKED. It's located in Downtown Flushing, literally right next to Tangram. It's also more affordable than other coconut hot pot spots in the city, with a heartier portion too. Shoutout to the impeccable service -- our server even helped skim off the floating oil from the broth (and made me want to buy that ladle lol). ＊Coconut Chicken (for two) 皇椰雞套餐 $75.95 They use cage-free chicken, and the pieces were generously sized with not too much bone. This portion was already enough to feed four. The set also comes with vegetables, plus your choice of rice or noodles. The coconut broth wasn't heavy at all that we were basically sipping it nonstop. ＊Poached Egg & Beef Clay Pot Rice 窩蛋牛肉煲仔飯 +$15 You get a discounted price if you add their claypot rice to your hot pot order. It looked very promising and delicious, especially with the runny poached egg. But I thought the rice needed a few more minutes in the clay pot to crisp up the base a bit more. ＊Maxi's Noodle Wonton 雲吞妹雲吞 $9.95 The price is pretty steep for just three wontons, but I love Maxi's so much that I still went for it. I came here with a friend for her birthday. I've been wanting to try coconut hot pot and glad my friend chose this place. We ordered the coconut chicken set for 2 (half a chicken, vegetables, choice of rice or noodles) for $78.95. We chose flat noodles and they were super fresh. There was a lot of vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, winter melon, corn, mushrooms). They did put 3 coconuts worth of water into the pot. Service was great, they cook the chicken for you and put a timer. For the quality, I would say it's a good deal. I did wish they told us the sauce bar was extra ($1.99 a person) though. They also have durian coconut hot pot which sounds interesting. read more

Me and my friends went to Coco Hotpot after a 5K run and honestly, hotpot hits just the spot after that! We had a reservation at 12, but even though we showed up about 15 minutes late, the staff still held our table and seated us right away, which I really appreciated. Our table could fit two pots, so we went with the Pork Soup and the Coconut Chicken Soup. The pork soup was very heavy on white pepper, you could literally smell it from a mile away once the lid came off. The coconut chicken soup, on the other hand, was really good, light, and flavorful. Decided to try this Coco Hotpot restaurant in Flushing and it was pretty good. The restaurant is bright and cute, with a combination of booths and tables depending on the party size. The four of us got the 2 person Coconut Chicken which came with half a fresh, cage free, bone-in chicken, a vegetable combo, and a choice of noodle which we opted for udon. We ordered a Cured Meat Clay Pot Rice, Fatty Beef, Watercress, Lotus Root, Bean Curd Skin 響鈴, and also got a complimentary Seaweed Salad. The coconut juice was sweet and refreshing. First time trying coconut chicken hotpot and wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised because chicken is not my go to meat for hotpot. Each table has an iPad to order from and the service was quite quick once you hit order. Our drinks came within seconds of hitting order. Picked double soup base combo where it comes with a tray of veggies (corn, cabbage, assorted mushrooms, lettuce and some kind of gourd), a large bowl of coconut chicken and the soups we picked were coconuts soup and healthy herbal chicken for $85. It was very filling for two people but we did order fatty beef and crispy tofu additionally. We enjoyed both the soup bases. The coconut soup tastes like warm sweet coconut water and the herbal chick n tastes more like traditional soup. There is a self serve sauce station and it costs a few dollars to get sauce. The server was also very nice and she creates a sauce for you that goes really well with the coconut chicken and honestly, don't bother making your own if you're doing the coconut chicken. Go with the sauce they make you because it complements the coconut chicken perfectly. Thank like Thai dipping sauce where it's salty, sweet, lime-y and umami at the same time. I got the claypot chicken with the hainan chicken rice. Overall claypot chicken was solid although the rice was not as crispy as I had hoped. I didn't know what to expect as I've never been to a coconut hotpot place before. It was different and something I've never experienced beforehand. If my friend didn't explain how everything worked, I would be so confused and frustrated. Everything even getting ahold of the server is through a device. The device is your key to ordering everything, too. The servers didn't do a great job of explaining things, but my friend did, so that brought the entire experience down. The hotpot place ended up being so much money. I've never spent almost $90 on hotpot before, and they nickle and dime you, meaning they charge even for sauce per person. We ended up ordering fatty beef, cuttlefish balls, pig stomach, baby cabbage, taro, and mixed mushroom combo. If we wanted other things, it would've costed even more. Came to try a different "Hot pot" experience with only chicken broth. This place is indeed quite different from tiger hot pot places first that it isn't all you can eat, so just be aware before committing. I really liked the Coconut Chicken broth and then the regular chicken broth with ginger and mushrooms, which they they add a sizable portion of raw chicken for cooking. This generally is the "meat" for your main serving. You can order other meat of course, but the options are very limited, so not at all similar to other hot pot places. There is a robust choice of vegetables, tofu, and noodles, and then separate dishes which looked quite appetizing. Since it was just two of us we skipped additional dishes, but I think if you're 3 or more people it would be wise to get something else. Service was very quick and attentive, and giving us space when needed. The restaurant ambiance was very nice - felt a little more upscale chic without being fussy. Overall enjoyable for people who really enjoy a great chicken soup, but not exactly what I would have in mind for hot pot the way I like it. read more

I guess the lack of seasoning helps us appreciate the natural flavors more, but for a relatively pricey meal ($75 for two person coconut chicken hotpot), I expected a bit more. Once it comes to a boil, the chopped up chicken is dropped into the broth with an (5 minute?) hourglass at the top to tell you when chicken is ready. I've never had coconut water based hotpot. I'm still indifferent but I did enjoy it. Using coconut water as the broth base is genius. Once the coconut water boils, they put the chicken in and the waiter comes back to check on the chicken for you. And you're left with a juicy, coconutty chicken. While waiting for the waiter to come back, a lot of people were suddenly leaving and coming inside, saying hi to other customers? We were standing there confused and unsure if they really just skipped us in line (later finding out that they did when they were seated 20-25 minutes before us). Very disappointed with the poor system the wait staff have in place for their customers. Should we not allow any other customers through the door until we're on the wait list? After almost an hour, we were finally seated. Food wise, we ordered the Hainanese chicken over rice, the coconut chicken hotpot for 2, and added an order of the shrimp paste. We really liked the Hainanese chicken - tender and the sauces were good! I'd get this again. The coconut chicken hotpot was okay. I had a taste of the fresh coconut water which was tasty (of course)! The space was bright and clean. There's a mixture of booths and round table. The hot pots are meant for groups here. If you choose their signature Coconut Chicken brother, it comes with base chicken and vegetables. Through an iPad you can order more things to put into the broth. Aside from the chicken being put into the broth for you, everything else you put into the broth(s) yourself. There is a sauce station but that's an additional Service was mostly quick. They come around to refill the broth. However, didn't come to refill the tea unless you asked. The coconut chicken broth is on the sweet side and goes well with the meats. The portions seemed quote small given its price point and compared to other spots in the area. The sauce station available is an extra add-on and quite small. Service 3/5 - You do have to order via their QR code that's on the table and they'll bring you the food from there. However, any refills on anything and getting the attention of the staff was harder than most places. Most of them seemed to be distracted on their phones wlor with each other during our time there. The interior decor itself is nice and the spot did seem to be busy at time. We have been to Coco hotpot 3 times already. Every time we go, the soup just tastes as good and amazing as the first time we tasted it. It's one of a kind hot pot in New York City with its refreshingly sweet coconut juice based soup. Other dishes such as the rice in clay pot and pork chop over rice taste delicious too. For parking, I highly recommend to park in the parking lot of tangram which has a very reasonable rate. Coconut chicken hot pot is most definitely a popular trend hitting Chinese hot pot right about now and I'm a fan. This place is pretty tight in terms of space but they make do. The food here is really good. We got the papaya and fish maw broth and it was excellent - chicken was fresh, broth was rich and the quality of all their meats and veggies were top notch. Service here is also very good. If I had one gripe, it's the price which is a tad of a splurge ($110 for the pot for 2 not including any add ons). Quality is there so it's worth a try. Ive been to this spot many times. sometimes 2 times a week. one of my close boy loves it here. one good thing about this spot is it closes 530-6 am. so a lot of ppl thats done drinking or cant sleep and feel hungry will come here. they have 3 loactions i believe. i only go to this location. but im sure all their locations are similar. service overall is good. waiters always been pretty nice and patience. their chicken coconut soup base is very good. 99% of all the ppl that i know thatve tried it all likes it and comes back because of the soup. but they also have diff flavor soup bases which are also very good. they also have clay pot rice. a few varieties. also very good.
