We were visiting Spokane from Montana. We were craving Mexican food. So, we went to Yelp for suggestions. Chop Choo Tortas had really good reviews. We thought we'd give it a try. We both loved what we ordered and the portions were so big, we took food back home to Montana! We agreed that the next time we are in Spokane, we would make this a sure stop. We absolutely love the street tacos, each flavor is amazing and well worth the short drive to pick up or stay!

What wonderful gem this little authentic Mexican restaurant is. We have eaten here a few times now and everything has been incredible. The super fries are to die for and the 4 street tacos is a meal big enough for two. We've also had the steak torta. It was HUGE and incredibly delicious. What happened? Covid? They used to season the steak and cut across the grain in the steak quesadilla. Now, it's bits of beef, huncks of fat. They place gave up on that special touch, why bother going back. read more

Each time I have eaten here, my food has been served differently, but a few things are consistent. The friendly service and quality of food. I expected more. Even with inexpensive prices. The tacos I had with the Tues special were on the smallest tortillas available, I call them "2 bite", but still could have been rated better with better carnitas. I think it was really just roast pork. Not impressed. The refried beans appeared to have been from a can and just barely warmed up, and the rice was OK. I did like the salsa, especially the green, but the red was good too. My friend got chicken tacos that he said were OK. Pretty bland. But with tax the price was only $16. We had the carnitas tacos plate, elotes, and melon juice. Corn and tacos were ok, the melon juice taste a bit weird. We were skeptical to try some green colored melon juice, it was a hot day and we decided to give it a try. It appeared they mixed with some soda (carbonated) , will not recommend. read more

Only giving 4 because I ordered take out and one order of our street tacos was missing. But the food is amazing so much flavor. We had Carnitas street tacos some of the best I've ever had! The restaurant was very clean, and the gentleman that took my order was friendly. Food came out pretty fast. We will be back here again and again. I would actually have given a 4.5 if could. And as I commented just an error in my take out. 6/23/19 My son and I ate here again. I'm bumping up to a 5 star because of friendly service, quick food, and our meals were outstanding. Very good food, but make sure to look at the signs prices before you ask for the price of food. I've gone in and asked for a horchata on multiple occasions and asked the price each time. They give me different prices from $5-$7 each. The sign says it's cheaper. It's different workers each time, so not sure if they just pocket the rest or if they don't know actual prices and guess. read more

Being from Southern California, authentic, good Mexican food is hard to find. There are small places nearly everywhere you go down there, here, not so much. We were shopping in the Valley and my wife was craving Mexican food. I opened Yelp and did a quick search and saw the high ratings, so we had to try it. We were blown away! From the homemade, buttery flower tortillas, to the authentic and delicious refried beans, we felt like were back in So Cal. My wife had the Ranchero tacos and I had one of my favorite dishes, Camarones a La Diabla. The tacos were stuffed with carne asada, the shrimp was spicy and packed full of delicious flavor. Anyone craving true authentic Mexican food will surely be pleased the discovered this place. The staff were very friendly just like the atmosphere. Yummy tortas! Simple set up, pay at register, then wait for food. My husband had the carnitas and loved how juicy and flavorful it was. My cubana was an interpretation of the Cubano I suppose, a crap ton of meat and super saucy as well. I like their interpretation but would've been ok to be without hotdogs on my sandwich. The green salsa is tart and refreshing and the red salsa packs a little heat, I recommend using the house salsa liberally to make the already delicious tortas even more saucy. As a San Diego native I actively seek out Mexican food in every city I travel to. Somehow, I had not found Choo Chooo Tortas until one of my team members recommended it. I stopped here on June 13, 2019 at noon before flying home to Seattle area. I was happy I did. Seriously, the California burrito and salsas took me home and made me happy. The music was authentic and the service was family oriented and super friendly. I am coming back every time I'm in Spokane from now on. California burrito was very good, french fries inside with melty cheese and carne asada! Weirdest carne asada I've ever seen.. look like meat you'd find at Arby's, not much flavor. Only two sauces, two green. Thick darker one is spicy! Which I love! Other green one had no heat or flavor, I question it's existence. Very friendly staff!
