I lived in San Antonio Texas for a few years. I visit often as my father lives in SA with his wife who was born and raised there and her family has been there since the beginning of Texas. I tell you this because I compare my Mexican cuisine to the food I ate there. The food and culture of SA is a kind of beauty I cannot describe I can only recommend you visit and spend time in the southeast side, not downtown river walk. I felt welcomed the moment we entered Rincon. This is a neighborhood restaurant and I truly love supporting my neighborhood. We were sat quickly at a clean and cozy booth. Warm chips and fresh salsa arrived immediately as well as fresh water and our drink order was taken. The staff was attentive our entire visit. Our food also arrived quickly. I had the cheese enchilada plate with a side of tortillas. The sauce was flavorful and the cheese was melted to perfection. The tortillas did not taste fresh and that's always a bummer for me. I can't exclaim enough how much of a game changer fresh tortillas truly are. My margarita was just standard mix margarita. Nothing special. My friend ordered chicken nachos and said they were perfect. She described the seasonings that were used in the chicken and how that made the dish for her. Cheese, chicken and chips done right. Our food did not disappoint but it was the standard Mexican fair nothing stood out as excellent. It's a great neighborhood spot where the food is good and the staff is great. read more

We went in last night with my family, we sat down and as the waiter was handing out the ice waters he dropped them on my two daughters soaking their backs and hair completely. I understand this was an accident and it happens but nothing was done to make the rest of our experience better. They both had to sit there soaking wet. I came to visit a friend and she brought me here to try their signature "fish bowl" drink which I was impressed by. For $13 you could get a large alcoholic beverage which would've been double back home. I got the strawberry kiwi fish bowl and loved it- it wasn't too strong and it paired well with my meal. The pricing for the food and drinks weren't too bad but the quality of the food was mediocre. I've been spoiled with a lot of Mexican food over the past years and have picked up some flavors that I always expect and I'm a little harsher on this cuisine. The pollo ranchero plate tasted like tomato sauce with onion and chicken and the rice was dry. That would be my only concern and I was also expecting some spice to the plate. read more

I had a really good lunch at Rincon Tapatio. It had been recommended, but I didn't realize how good it would be. I was looking over the lunch menu and noticed the vegetarian dishes didn't really have anything out of the ordinary. When I mentioned this to our server, he pointed out the vegetarian fajitas on the full menu. I always wondered why I had never seen veggie fajitas before, so I did not hesitate to order. So, good! Lots of veggies: peppers, onions, carrots, cauliflower (yes!) squash. All beautifully al dente served with fresh corn tortillas. The ubiquitous salsa had nice chunky veggies and just enough heat to whet the appetite. A side dish with rice and beans and very good guacamole was served with the fajitas. My lunch companion had a chicken dish that she pronounced equally delicious. We will be back. It was a nice afternoon so I was disappointed that there wasn't an outdoor spot do have our lunch. read more

Some of the best traditional Mexican in Spokane. Salsa has a little kick and it's all exactly what you expect. The micheladas and drinks are always a great compliment to the meal. Ok. I hate to do this, and I understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, HOWEVER, I have to share the fact that the cooking coming out of the kitchen was lazy :/. What do I mean by that? Ordered a tostada : ( store bought tortilla on the bottom ) ordered shredded beef ( it was maybe some beef on top, and chicken as filler underneath) The tostada itself was soggy with wet lettuce. Yuck. I also ordered a plate of enchiladas ( with mole sauce) it was a little sweet, that's ok, but the tortilla was not fried first, and the chicken inside the enchilada wasn't shredded very much at all. Chips and salsa were pretty flavorless, I doubt they were made in house either. Bad representation of what Mexican food should be. On a plus side, I didnt get ill from eating it! One of my favorite Mexican dishes is the Chile Colorado burrito. Not every place does it, or they don't do it very well. The Rincon Colorado Burrito is awesome. Great flavor and really close to what I had down in San Diego. I would like a little more zing in the salsa that comes with the chips, but it isn't bad and is at least fresh. The employees here are pretty friendly and keep the place really clean even when it gets busy. Speaking of the place, decor inside is nice but not overdone. Also it is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Seating is spread out so you aren't stacked on top of other people. I am really impressed with the price, especially with the portion size. This is a great value for your money, and the flavors make it worth it too. Wish this place was closer to home so I could enjoy it more. Overall, solid Mexican food! read more

Over the last 6 years (when we moved to Spokane) Rincon had become one of my families favorite places. Over the years, we've had many lunches, dinners, celebrated birthdays and good news, met friends for drinks, and everything in between. We've always loved the food, the excellent service, and great atmosphere. A couple weeks ago I met a friend with my two young kids. For the first time, I was extremely disappointed. We got there right when they opened. The gal that opened unlocked the door. When we walked in she didn't greet us or anything. My first thought was that I didn't recognize her and we frequented there enough that I was pretty familiar with the staff. She sat us. She didn't offer to help me get a high chair for my youngest or anything. She didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink ever. Brought my 4 year old a regular cup without a lid - every parent hates that. Her whole demeanor was off-putting to put it mildly. Truthfully it seemed like she didn't want to be there and it showed. We ordered, my kids were doing okay. The food comes- she puts EVERY HOT PLATE in front of my 18m old. You can guess how that went. We didn't have enough silverware bc I guess she assumed my kids don't use it?? I'm not sure. I attempt to feed my kids. They love their food and always have. Half way through the meal my son is suddenly able to stand up in his high chair and I realize after several attempts the straps are broken. I bring this to her attention. She does nothing. I carry my son and the high chair over to the others and grab another one. Very fun for me. And guess what- that one's broken too! I bring this to her attention as well. She couldn't have cared less. I was VERY direct that this is a safety issue and if the high chairs are broken they should not be offering them to the customers. She just smiles and nods. Clearly ignoring me. And I sit back down to attempt to get my son to sit in a booster seat. While I'm sitting there not eating my food bc I can't. I see her clean both of the broken high chairs and put them back. I ended up having to ask for a to go box to take almost my entire plate home to eat bc I couldn't eat due to not having anywhere safe to contain my son. He's an active kid. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. To top it all off when we got our bill my friend very nicely questioned the bill bc she didn't give us an itemized bill like they usually do.. and this lady literally stomps off like a toddler to and stomps back with it to show it to her. She was so unbelievably rude and childish. I've never experienced anything like this at a restaurant before. And I have to say as much as I love their food and in the past have enjoyed this restaurant we will probably never be back after this experience. If I can't have a safe place for my kid to sit or a respectful waitress I'll find another Mexican restaurant to enjoy and spend my money at. read more

Finally found a Mexican restaurant in Spokane with flavor. Been here for two years now and haven't been able to find a half decent Mexican restaurant. Most are mediocre at best. I think it has to do with the local crowd and them not having experience with authentic Mexican food with flavor so they dumb down the seasoning. Most places can't even serve salsa with flavor let alone the entree. Everything was seasoned and spiced perfectly and to feed a family of 4 under $50 was even better. The owner was personable and takes pride in what he serves. We will definitely be back. The restaurant was clean! Chips & salsa are the cheapest thing, not to mention unlimited and free when in the restaurant. My favorite Mexican restaurant! Both locations are great! I love the complementary chips and salsa (which they even include in to go orders btw) and it's never too long of a wait for our food! We've visited Rincon a few times now, initially based on my wife's dad's recommendation, but it's friendly service keeping us coming back. My first two impressions when initially walking in were the interior, which reminded me of many other Mexican establishments I'd been in and the hilariously large margarita on another table. This place basically fills up punch bowls with alcohol and brings them out for college students to share. My wife's dad wanted to get one, but we thankfully passed. We placed our orders and started to fill up on chips. (Which gave me an idea. A restaurant that serves artisanal chips with dips, salsas and beans. That's it. Oh, and local microbrews, obviously.) I'm typically consistent with my Mexican orders. Street style tacos, a tostada or a taco salad, depending on my mood. Rincon does a great job with their tacos and tostadas. The waiter made small talk with us while we waited and checked up on us a few times to see how everything was. Rincon is a regular stop whenever we visit, and well worth the occasional lunch. read more

They moved to this location from North Market Street. The interior is more updated and new. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. Everyone at my table loved what they ordered.
