I heard about this place through couple of my friends and now i'm recommending my friends and family who live in duluth to go and try it out! Me and my friends ordered the whole chicken snow onion, which was 23 dollars. The thing under snow onion was I believe spicy snow onion? which was the same price. So our server recommended us to try it out , so we can try two different flavor( the spicy sauce comes on the side). So we took her recommendation and got the spicy snow onion! I personally love spicy food but I think the snow onion itself was really good so we barely touched the spicy sauce, but i'm glad she recommended us to try it out. :) I will be back soon, thank you! read more

I saw a tik tok about Korean fried chicken so while in the area, this spot came up. The chicken is very expensive. $15 for 12oz of wings and it is about 6-8 pieces total. Prior to ordering I asked the employee if the wings would be whole and he said yes - LIE. Wings are split. So I ordered the fried chicken wings with snow onion and spicy garlic sauces on the side. Service was quick. The place was clean. I ordered to go but a friend was nearby and I sat at the table thinking we could just sit and eat and I was informed that you cannot dine in if you order to go------ the place is not fancy in the least. It is a chicken and fries place .......like.... Hold your horses ---a paid meal is a paid meal... and the restaurant was EMPTY...lol... make it make sense. Anyway, the chicken is season-less. Very bland by itself. I dipped the chicken in the snow onion and that was pretty decent. It was a different taste but a good different. This is a cute eatery for a more "it's Thursday night and I don't feel like cooking" bite or a very, very casual first date if you are trying to get friend zoned. I definitely consider this a cheap eat and 1 plate of tenders is enough for two people. Also, if you are getting the fries (which is a little more highly priced than the actual meat if you are looking at food to dollar ratio), definitely go for the curly fries. They are crispier. The food is just a tad too salty, for my taste. Keep in mind, I'm an Asian person that bleeds soy sauce if you cut her. So it might actually be TOO salty. The salt wouldn't be an issue if the waiter was at your beck and call to refill your water, or you got your own pitcher like most other Korean places. However, this place is new and seems to be severely understaffed. I waited so long for the bill that I just walked up to the counter and tried to pay. My server was the one running the cash register and he didn't recognize me. He asked me if I was trying to place an order to go! Choong Man Chicken is definitely one of my favorite Korean Fried Chicken places, ever. I've been here a few times now and got take out from here for the first time a couple days ago. The price is average and is pretty similar to the other chains around the area. I've tried all of their flavors, but my favorites are probably the Soy Garlic and Garlic Spicy chicken. Their lunch special is a really good deal, so if you're around the area on a weekday during lunch time, get it! It's $7.99, comes with 5 pieces of chicken, coleslaw, rice/fries, and a soft drink. You can get it both dine-in and take out! It's extremely filling and definitely worth it at that price. read more

I've been waiting for a legit Korean fried chicken place to open up in Atlanta for a long time and the time has finally come! Too bad this place is in Duluth which is kind of far from the city. We ordered: -Garlic Soy Tikkudak; good option if you are not a fan of spicy -Snow Onion; I thought I wouldn't like this one because there were a lot of onions on it, but surprisingly it was pretty good and the sauce was very creamy -Red hot pepper wings; this flavor is probably my favorite just because I like spicy more than the others I do agree it's good to come here in a group so you can order different flavors to share. Personally I prefer to try a variety of flavors to mix it up. I'd give this place a solid 4/5 for the food, but I deducted another star for the service. 3.5 I think that it's above average. I liked how they checked our temperatures before going in, and they really practiced social distancing. I also liked that there was no physical menu. What you do is take a picture of the QR code at the table, and then you read the menu through your phone. I felt that they went above average practicing social distancing. It was very clean and sanitary. Food wise- it was my first time having Korean fried chicken. I really thought it was amazing. I had the classic flavor and thought it was awesome. It was cooked to perfection. I thought the seasoning was perfect. They did not overdue it with the sodium, and also the batter was amazing. I've never had a batter like this before. My only complaint is that we also ordered the curry chicken flavor, but they brought out the red hot pepper chicken flavor. We pointed on the menu at our choice, and also said our order, and the server looked at what we pointed at, but put the wrong order in. When they brought out the wrong flavor, and we told them, we were just told that that's what we ordered. I felt that this could've been handled better since we know what we ordered and pointed on our phones what we wanted from the menu. We were offered a side dipping sauce of the curry chicken flavor. I LOVE this place so much. The food and service are always 10/10. The inside of the restaurant if very spacious and has a lot of seating. You are always seated once you enter and given water right away. When I come I always order curly fries, garlic spicy, fried chicken/garlic soy/curry chicken. If I order two types of chicken I get one tender or one wing. The chicken are fried perfectly and the sauce is spread evenly throughout. The chicken portion is a bit on the smaller side but it still fills you up surprisingly. I have also tried the snow onion chicken which is very delicious if you like fresh onion. It is also very saucy so the sauce could be overpowering sometimes. The waiters check up on you throughout your meal and fill up your waters (which is a plus!) but they tend to forget bringing your check. For some reason every time I have visited the workers forget about the check. So we are left to hunt them down while they are walking past, to remind them that we need to check out. There is also an option to check out at the front which I will take advantage of next time if they forget. Overall, love this place and will visit soon most definitely. Delicious and nice chicken joint in Duluth. This restaurant does it right and makes some quality chicken wings that are of excellent quality and flavor. They are conveniently located by coffee by hand and sweet hut. Parking is plentiful and seating space is abundant. I cam see myself returning here often and am glad they are in the neighborhood of Duluth. The only negative I can say about this place is that their chicken is a bit on the expensive side and their portion size is a bit on the small side. Being that these are high quality wings however I can't dock any stars for that. I would rank this chicken joint in my top 50 chicken wings spots I have tried in Georgia, if I have even gone to that many spots to begin with. I'm so happy that there are more and more Korean fried chicken restaurants popping up around Atlanta lately. To me, Koreans are really the masters of chicken dishes. You must try out Choong Man if you love fried chicken like I do. I was most impressed by the Red Hot Pepper Chicken Wings and Curry chicken wings. I highly recommend the wings over the boneless ones. The bone-in wings are much more flavorful and juicier. My friends and I usually order the curly fries and couple of Sapporo (beer on tab). The cold and carbonated rush of the beer complemented the crunchy, sweet, spicy, chicken beautifully. This combination of Korean-fried-chicken and beer is known as Chimaek which is very popular in Korea. I want to give Choong Man Chicken three and a half stars(round up to four). The reasons are lacking variety in menu and we were not very happy with some of the side items. I think Choong Man wouldn't be a good place for big family dinner meal. I've gotten take out from here several times and I've probably sat on this review for a hot minute. I like this location better than the one in GA Tech (even though I can get it delivered). All of their orders come with all the goodies (the sweet pickled radish and the cole slaw with thousand island dressing) and the chicken is fantastic. You really can't go wrong with any of the orders but I really like their traditional Korean Fried Chicken with the sauce and the regular Korean fried chicken without the sauce is great too. I've even had the chicken gizzards and they're amazing as well! I personally like the snow chicken. It's a little sweet (think of like a sweet onion dressing that's creamy) and it comes with a mess of shredded onions. However the wings are pretty small but you get a good portion so whatever ! I had the garlic soy and it was great ! My fiancé had the spicy garlic chicken... it's a good flavor but it is really hot -- hot to the point where it was hard to enjoy. We also shared the curly fries (it's a lot and it comes out before the chicken b/c it's considered an appetizer) they were also cooked to perfection ! Only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the foyer of the restaurant has a terrible smell (we almost turned around due to that) but the actual restaurant doesn't smell as bad, still has a mild odor but it's tolerable. My friend and I were craving some KFC. It's kinda funny just typing that cause to me, KFC stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken not Korean Fried Chicken. After looking at menu, we decided on Garlic Spicy Chicken Wings, Hot Pepper Tikkudak Chicken Wings, Curry Tikkudak Chicken Wings, Tikku Hot Pepper Gizzard, and Curly Fries. Our fries came out first. We were expecting the fries to be a little more curly like Arby's haha, it was okay, typical but good appetizer since it was soooo much for just $5. Our food came all at the same time. The crunchiness of the wings were on point. Our favorite is the Hot Pepper Tukkudak Chicken Wings. It was the right amount of spiciness. My friend ordered a bowl of rice to eat also cause she's Asian and I'm not haha. That reminds me, we also got radishes as appetizers. I'm not Asian, remember? So I couldn't use the chopsticks lol. Which chicken piece do you prefer? When I was younger, working at KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), when customers order wings, most ask for the drummette. I'm the drummette girl too and my hubby loves drummettes more. Both of my kids prefer the flat pieces. Choong man is a staple in Duluth and our monthly menu. I come here so often and I always recommend it, and never really ran into a problem. The chicken is always fresh and flavors are decadent. Our usual is the garlic soy & red pepper whole chicken. Customer service is high on my list of places I go to as a regular. I am a little disappointed in the business this time because apparently my 6 month old was counted as a 5th person so our bill was going to have automatic 18% gratuity. I just felt like this was a tip bait move. Quite distasteful imo. I also wouldn't call this a kid friendly business either, there is no diaper changing station (only two bar height chairs facing each other to be a diaper change station which is not safe) read more

I've been to Choong Man a few times now, and it has never disappointed. We'll start with the "bad" first: 1) Service is OK. Each time I've gone, service was always different. When they're busy... they're busy so service is a little slow, but when business is slow, man, they're kind of slow; however, it's not to the point where you want to make a scene. They'll come to you eventually. 2) When you go to most Korean chicken places, they'll give you pickled radish AND the coleslaw/ salad as a side dish. Here they only give you the radish, I believe the coleslaw is $5 extra. I mean, I guess it's not that big of a deal, but it's still nice to have something to munch on while you're waiting. Now the goods! 1) I think Choong Man has the best Korean Fried Chicken in Duluth. It's super crunchy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. I've been ordering out from here and love the consistency of the flavor and the texture of the chicken wings. This review is based solely on the garlic spicy as it's the only flavor that I've tried from Choong Man. For texture, the wings were protected by an outer crispy crunchy coating while the insides remained piping hot and juicy 5/5. As for flavor, the wings were smothered in a spicy, garlicky, salty sweet sauce that was so delicious that I couldn't get enough of. It was that finger licking good! I would absolutely order this again and again 5/5! Next time when I'm ordering again, I'll certainly give the red pepper chicken and the lemon spring onion chicken a try as they both sound delicious! Updated review is for customer service. Husband and I loved picking up to go from here. Sad to say we won't be back after an incident/ experience that occurred on 10/27/22. Our favorite thing here is the snow onion chicken. The onion we received with our takeout was very off. It caused the whole dish to taste bitter. I called the restaurant to advise of what happened and the gentleman that pick up apologized and actually said they had an issue with the onions going bad before. He asked how he could make it right. I was like perhaps comp our meal when we come in next time. (We always order 1 whole snow onion chicken) He said he had to ask his manager and passed the phone to him. Spoke to the manager about the onions and he asked me how they taste and based on my response he would be able to tell if the onions were bad or not. He also said he went to taste the batch of onions that were with what I received and they were ok. He also said it could have been one bad onion that I received causing the rest of the onions in the container in to go bad or possibly the heat from the food bag during travel home caused it (we live about 8 mins from the restaurant )was like it had to be the sauce, it was something, because that dish was bitter. nope it can't be the sauce that's made fresh daily. We've ordered here so many times before and we've never ran into this issue. Although he was nice about it, I felt like he was grilling me about the whole situation and like I was lying about it. It didn't matter what I was trying to explain he wasn't listening. And then had the nerve to say, I'm not going to sit here and argue with you? Who is arguing? You are just going on and on about how it can't be the onions. And I am here explaining to you what was wrong. The 1st gentleman we spoke to was much more empathetic. He asked how he could correct the issue. I asked perhaps give credit for our order the next time we came in or what could they do? Conclusion: he gave us credit for onions and snow onion sauce. Wow. The snow chicken is pretty bomb. Bomb as in delicious :P We dragged ourself in here as a last resort as we both had gotten hangry over indecisive dinner choices. The location is right where JM BBQ used to be, behind the ihop at the end of the shopping strip. Service was a bit spotty and theres a table dedicated for the workers and owners to sit on, they are on their phones and watching shows on their tablets, so you get the picture. We tried a number of things here: Spicy gizzards - woook so spicy but soooo delicious! I never had gizzards prepared this way but I mean why not? They are breaded and fried and doused in delicious spicy garlic sauce that has just the right amount of burn! Yas! Soy garlic tikkudak wings - the marinade is REALLY good. And the wings are a good size, unlike harue chicken which has half a thumb sized sad excuse for a chicken wing. The tikkudak means that its extra crispy crunchy because they fry it twice... mmmm! Spicy garlic wings - I really like these! The marinade tastes almost identical to the spicy gizzard sauce but a hint of something else. That something else was something my husband couldnt stomach (he hates cinnamon and said it had a cinnamonny taste) so he skipped on them. SNOW FREAKIN CHICKEN TENDERS- like, wow. So simple yet so delicious. The tenders were literally PERFECT---- SO tender and perfectly breaded, smothered in the snow sauce, which is basically vidalia onion sauce with more onions, topped with raw onions. Why didnt I ever think of doing this? Its genius!! So good! But stay away if you dislike onions and/or need to keep ur breath clean lolllll Curly fries - your standard curly fries (alot like arbys curly fries) cept the 5$ goes a long way, they bring you a huge basket of them Cole slaw- presentation: terrible lol it looked really nasty, the cabbages were in thick long noodle like strips and was smothered in sauce (which was actually pretty good). I wrestle with my review rating for Choong Man Chicken. They have some of my fav chicken here; however, for the price-point and portion I can't get over how stingy they are with some of the sauces that you select that goes on the side for your chicken when you order takeout. For example, the curry snow chicken comes with a very small amount of curry sauce on the side when you order it takeout. When you ask for extra curry sauce they will make you pay extra for it. Same thing goes when you ask for the sauce in the side for other chicken flavors. Also, when you ask for extra salad which is some shredded lettuce with a thousand island dressing or the Korean cubed radish they will charge you extra as well. Perhaps if they put more in your order one would not have to ask for some more extra. Also, make sure you check your takeout order before you leave. This place stays pretty busy so make sure you get everything you ordered. During one takeout order visit they forgot to include the sliced onions that come with the curry snow chicken. By the time I arrived home and saw that it was missing it wasn't worth the drive back to get it. The following is good here: -Regular KFC -curry snow chicken -garlic spicy chicken (sweet red sauce)- this comes already covered on the chicken -snow chicken I do liked how they are doing some safety measures due to Covid-19 upon entrance. They do temperature check. They allow dine in; however, it's not as spread out per table as I think it should be. One thing to note they don't usually have curbside pickup.
