If I could give a negative -100, I would! I went here to get my mother a duck because that's what she'd be asking for. However, the open light was but the restaurant door was locked and closed. So I knocked, and from the back comes a man (not sure if he'd just exited the restroom or what). He came to the door and asked me what I wanted, so I ordered a duck. He proceeded to go behind the counter and got ONE plastic glove, put it on one of his hands, grabbed the duck with the hand that did not have a glove on it, and proceeded to chop up the duck with both hands, the ungloved hand and the gloved hand. I politely knocked on the window and told him never mind! With everything that is going on with Covid, I can't believe that he didn't even have the decency to put on gloves! I'll NEVER go back to this place!!!! read more

This place is tucked away in a big shopping center and I have to thank one of my fellow Yelp buddies for coming here. When I realized it was so close to me, I put it in my GPS, grabbed my boyfriend and head over here. It's not typical Chinese restaurant cuisine. I loved it, though. I got the duck over rice and my boyfriend got the BBQ pork over rice. Since we hadn't been here before the owners let us have a plate of BBQ pork to taste so we wouldn't waste our time and/or money. This was something I really appreciated because a lot of other places wouldn't have done that. There was a duck hanging from the cook's station and a cooked pig's head you could see from the window! Too cool. LOL. My duck was great over white rice. I added a little duck sauce; only because it was in my bag but it didn't really need the extra flavor. In a nutshell, the place is dirty and sketchy as hell. Despite the Peking duck monicre, Peking duck is not on the menu. There's something called "duck over rice". OK, whatever, we tried it. The food we received on our plates was obviously old, like it was leftover from the night before. They microwaved it. The duck was not crispy at all; warm on the outside, cold on the inside. The white rice actually tasted sour/old. It literally reminded me of a sad plate of leftovers that someone might bring to lunch at work and reheat in the microwave. Pretty disgusting. We didn't really eat much more than a few bites before we tapped out. No apologies for the appalling quality of the meal, no discount. My wife and I paid the $30 bill and left to go eat somewhere else. There's so many interesting Asian places around this area, and we love trying new things. Just ordered half roast duck and 1 pound of the BBQ pork. Food is definitely worth the hype and highly recommended. In terms of service, we were served just fine while we were outside waiting for the food. However, I cannot say the same for the Uber driving who accidentally waited behind us. Once we finished, she walked up to the owner and told him Uber and he literally went off on her. I mean, what an ass. She stood there waiting patiently and while she did make a mistake because the order was for the place next door, he still shouldn't have treated her that way. We felt sorry and embarrassed for the Uber driver. She took a whole lot of shit from this guy for a simple mistake. Again, the food is fantastic. Wong Kee BBQ & Peking Duck is such a place. Nestled comfortably between Bento Cafe and Metro PCS in the Oakbrook Shopping Center (which is anchored by the sprawling Hong Kong Supermarket), it is run by Chef Tony and his indomitable wife, Van. Chef Tony specializes in serving up roasted meats Cantonese - style. It's a narrow cramped space sparsely adorned; more suitable for its bustling take-out business. There are no waiters or waitresses; no extra cooks; no busboys clearing plates. Tony and Van do it all. And during non-school hours, you might find their young daughter playing or studying at a small table by the kitchen door. I brought a party of 20 last night for a Peking Duck feast. I pre-ordered 5 Peking Ducks in advance. As we arrived and filled up a long rectangular 12 top table and a circular 8 top, the ducks, pre-sliced and hot, began to come out. The accoutrements: 12 hot buns, hoisin sauce, scallions and celery. Along with the ducks, and because of my personal penchant for offal, Chef Tony made a platter of pigs' ears, stomach and intestine for us with a nice dipping sauce. For the less adventurous eaters, a platter of roasted pork and another of barbequed pork accompanied the ducks. The meats were fresh and succulent, the offal gelatinous and briny. The roasted pork had that wonderful crunchy outer skin. This was a protein pig out of the highest order. As we left, Van handed me a "special package" wrapped up tightly as a thank you for bringing in such a large party on a Tuesday night. When I got home and opened it, a roasted duck head sitting upon the chopped up mound of the rest of him stared up at me from the open Styrofoam to go container. Wong Kee has all of the signs of an amazing Peking duck and BBQ joint, so I was seriously sad once the food hit my mouth. The name in itself sounds like a famous duck place that I would be frequenting in Manhattan Chinatown, and the ducks hanging in the case looked just fine and dandy. Prices are low at Wong Kee, but so is the quality of the food served. The photos on Yelp all look fabulous and the reviews are singing their praises. Makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with people, maybe they do not know any better, or maybe we were just served some week old crap because the cook does not like my face. Either way, bad experience. The sad duck at Wong Kee is rubbery and chewy with barely any flavor. If the namesake of the business is duck, then put some care into it. How depressing... The waitress was really nice, so I felt really bad when I could not even finish the roast pork over rice. To be in an area of Atlanta that has so many delicious and interesting restaurants, I could not waste the space in my stomach on the dry, flavorless meat on my plate. My boyfriend and I was going to go to Bento Cafe next door and saw this place served Peking duck, so we decided to come here instead. The restaurant was completely empty and we were seated. The owner doesn't appear to speak much English so he didn't say much to us after dropping off the menus. Since we weren't very hungry, we just got the half order of peking duck. The owner seemed a bit disappointed that the two of us only wanted the duck and nothing else and asked if we weren't going to order anything else. The food took a while to come, but did not disappoint. There was a decent amount of duck meat and skin (some crispy some not so crispy) and came with 6 buns and some vegetables (scallion, cucumbers, and celery). Although this wasn't the best peking duck I've had, it was good enough for 20 dollars. Looks like most people order to-go here. When I first came to Atlanta from NY I had one worry in mind: finding my favorite meal in the world to cook and eat at home, Peking Duck. I searched far and wide both in person and on the internet but could find nothing for months. Lo' and behold I found this place, owned by a nice couple that are willing to make anything work. Luckily for me all I wanted were the ducks hanging in the window. This is one of the few (or only) places around Atlanta you can pick up an entire Peking Duck that is already pre-roasted and made so all you have to do is drop it into the oven and get yourself some hoisin sauce with mooshu wraps, scallions and whatever else to make an amazing meal. Note: this is a Vietnamese-run Cantonese/Vietnamese food cafe. We've seen the roast ducks hanging in the window many times as we'd walk into the overpopular Bento cafe, the restaurant next door to it. We finally got the chance to try it yesterday- with 10 other people squished at one happy family table, no less. :) When a few of us first walked in, there were a group of vietnameses men who were leisurely having their lunches/tea...who kept STARING at us when we walked in, as if they were curious as to why we were there. It took like 10-30 seconds before a nice lady came out from the kitchen and asked us how many people we had. Slightly creepy... Since there ended up being so many of us, we ordered 10 dishes- the roast duck (HK style) and the roast pork (cripsy skin) were the only dishes that would merit a 3, although the roast duck seemed like it was left in a pot of oil for a long time. Everything else we ordered (an assortment of fried rice, noodles, meat/veggie dishes) was average or below-average food. Perhaps we should've ordered some Vietnamese dishes, as we stuck with their Cantonese cuisine. There's a reason why this place is usually empty when we pass by, or close to empty. This review is for only the Peking duck, I did not try anything else. Atlanta seems to have a deep dark hole in its culinary scene with Peking duck being at the bottom of said hole. Not sure why because there are seemingly endless numbers of Chinese restaurants, but no one seems to make Peking duck. There are a lot of places that do roast duck, but that is just not the same. I saw that this place had Peking duck in its name, so I figured that they were experts. While the duck was tasty, it wouldn't rank in my top 10 Peking duck experiences. The duck was served with buns which in my opinion is far superior than the pancake like wraps other places use. It also came with celery (which I thought was odd) and the more traditional cucumbers, green onion and hoisin sauce. The duck itself was crispy, with nicely rendered skin, but was served with a lot more meat than I'm used to, which is a good/bad thing depending on your perspective. Usually places take the meat and make a soup or stir fry out of it and focus on serving mostly skin. This place just left the extra meat on. I think this place could be a lot better with some minor adjustments, but if you're craving Peking duck and are in Atlanta you could do worse. read more

Really impressed me to find a place better than Mings BBQ and this guy who used to be a exec chef in Vegas really does it - Duck whole for $ 15.99 is incredible and super tender with crisp skin. The Honey Pig is the only place outside of a place in Taipei that has done it this good, wife who is a REALLY picky Asian actually had NO complaints, smiled and had THREE more items and for her that was amazing since a 1/10 oz food portion slice is usually a meal to her. Located next to Bento Cafe so you get the free internet and the place was worth every cent. Plan to go back again, just wish it wasn't a hour away from home. Don't know what happened to the guy from Decatur, but have talked with two others and we both had the same experience here. Here's a hint - you go to a BBQ place, get BBQ! read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars. I walked in on New Years Eve absolutely starving, and wanting some bbq, I spotted Wong Kee. Now, the name in itself is funny and made me want to try this place for awhile now. The restaurant was empty when I came in, so I had time to inspect the bbq showcase in the front. There was one roast pig hanging and a few roast ducks laid in a pan underneath. A cook and a lady came from the back to help me order. The guy immediately asks me what I nationality I was. When I said Cambodian, he smiles and asks me a question. I'm not sure if he just couldn't pronounce the word right, but I swear he asked me if I wanted to eat cat. Um, no, I just shook my head and grabbed a menu since I had planned on ordering take out. I asked if the bbq was fresh, cause quite frankly it didn't look like it was. The heat lamp wasn't even turned on, and you could see the roasted pork skin was dry and stretched out. The lady replied that "it depended on me". Um, wha??? It depends on ME how fresh YOUR food is? Thinking that it was a language barrier, I asked if there was any fresh BBQ in the back? She retorts back, I don't know why you keep asking me that? She says something in chinese to the guy who did the ultimate Asian f-you and waved me away. I was shocked! I just shook my head, threw the menu to the table and walked out. I've eaten Asian BBQ all my life and I know what it should look like, smell like and taste like. It was our last day in Atlanta and I wanted to grab a bite with my parents before we left but no other place was open before 10am so we settled here. The BBQ pork and duck are the absolute best I've ever had (trust me, I eat BBQ pork at literally every Chinese restaurant I go to). It wasn't dry like most places and tasted fresh, regardless of how long it's actually been out. The food also came out lightning fast and it was in such huge portions that we all had to take home food. My only complaint is the guy that was serving us, I'd assume is the owner, was really short with us and kept interrupting us while we were ordering or when we had questions about some of the menu items. read more

yay for some decent cantonese bbq meats in Georgia! A Vietnamese/cantonese owner runs this place. They serve some really great cantonese food. Way better than Mings off of pleasant hill. it is a farther drive but the quality is way beyond ming's quality. Its a small shop in the hong kong market plaza. I would have never known about this place until someone pointed it out to me. I really enjoy their meats( char siu/duck) and rice dishes. Owner is great and generous with the portions. 1lb of crispy roast pork and 1lb of roast duck for $37 and in no way am I dissatisfied. The meat on both the duck and pork was so soft and succulent. My first bite of the pork was this amazing flavor of mixed spices and tenderness of the meat. The skin could have been more crispy, but overall I am a very happy customer. I have yet to try out the other dishes, though I can assure you thay their pork and duck is worth trying out. If one pound is too much, get half a pound and buy a baguette at the market to make a banh mi sandwich! read more

This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had in Atlanta. The owners seem like decent people so I hate to say bad things but it is just that bad I felt compelled to warn others about going here. I was most excited to try the Peking Duck since I've searched all over Atlanta for a good place and this place has it in their name. It wasn't good. They only had one left and it was hanging in the window. I think it was not roasted the proper way. The chopped it up and served it Peking duck style but the skin was not crispy at all and it wasn't even warm. The buns they serve it with were not good (I prefer pancakes anyways) and the hoisin sauce was watery and tasted more like ketchup. Despite the poor Peking duck, they also ran out of fish and chicken. Let me say that again. They ran out of chicken!! A couple doors down is the huge Hong Kong Supermarket and they had hundreds of fish so I don't know why they don't just get some from there. So by default, we got beef dishes and only 1 out of 4 was decent. The others were barely edible they were that bad. They didn't taste fresh and had no flavor besides tasting old. I had high hopes for this place and it was a big let down. It didn't have a clean vibe to it but that could have been overcome with good food. This place could not deliver.
