I came late on a Saturday night but I'm sure this place gets pretty busy. Inside it's a bar kind of environment with a very open seating and TVs playing kpop music. We had the wings since we weren't that hungry but I really wish we were much hungrier because these were mind-blowing! The chicken itself was super super crispy on the outside but somehow in the inside it was juicy and flavorful. You can literally see the sauce come out of the wing once you bite into it. I had a feeling it would be busy since it was dinner time on a Saturday night, so I didn't have high expectations. Lo and behold, the restaurant wasn't totally full, and we were seated fairly promptly, which was nice. However, we could tell right away that the table beside us must have been waiting a while and didn't have food. You could tell by the looks on their faces. We placed our order around 7:40, and I asked for an estimated wait time for the food. I was quoted 30 to 40 minutes, which is pretty long but again, I expected it since it's a fairly new restaurant AND a Saturday night. Choong Man is a solid fried chicken place! The flavors that I've tried have all been very good. A popular one among my friends is the Soy Garlic. I do recommend getting the tikkudak chicken as it is crunchier and has more depth to it, but the regular fried chicken is still good. My boyfriend and I got the curly fries and regular soy garlic chicken this time. The fries come out way earlier than the chicken but it's technically an appetizer and not a side so it's okay. The curly fries are well seasoned and crispy, no complaints. The whole chicken is a bit tricky to eat as some pieces will be mostly bone and others will be mostly meat so it's kind of a game of luck. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The breading isn't too heavy and not oily at all. The topping on the Snow Onion Chicken was oddly reminiscent of tarter sauce except for sweeter and with thin onion rings instead of relish. At first it was odd but strangely it got addicting. The togo order was wrapped well in aluminum foil so it kept the food hot until I got home. I recommend this restaurant if you like to eat wings. Hopefully in the future management will consider adding a wing plate. Lucky I ordered $60 worth of wings to eat with a family of 8. I wouldn't come here for lunch if I'm by myself since I couldn't finish a whole plate of wings. I rather have a plate with some wings and like two side items. Tastiest chicken place I went to, shared three whole chickens and a plate of gizzards between 7 people and we ate like kings. I especially recommend the Snow Onion!! As being the grandmaster connoisseur of fried chicken I had to try this place out. People have been saying it's the best Korean fried chicken restaurant. First I took 1 star off for charging $2 for a can of Sprite. 12oz can of Sprite for $2.00. I also took another star off for the soggy curly fries. Definitely where you need to go to satisfy a fried chicken wing craving. You get about 10 wing pieces (not whole wings) in an order. Made to order and pretty fresh tasting. We ordered the Snow Onion wings. Spicy Garlic wings and the Garlic Soy Tikkudak - all to go. Admittedly we sampled each in the car before driving off so that we could experience the wings while they were hot. Delicious! The snow onion sauce is slightly sweet and creamy which may be an acquired taste for some. Garlic soy tikkudak was delicious but the garlic spicy was my favorite.
