What a great spot! From the moment we sat down and were handed complimentary glasses of champagne, we knew we were in for a great foodie experience. The place is cozy and a little cramped, but it totally works. It's lively, warm, and filled with eclectic French signs and art. Chef Christian has clearly been doing this a long time. He walks around the dining room with confidence, and keeps an eye on things as he sips his mineral water, without hovering. The staff was efficient and friendly. It's busy and the tables are close together, but that's part of the charm. Definitely call ahead for reservations. Chef Christian has been here since the '90s. We started with the escargot, loaded with garlic, butter, and parsley. The foie gras was rich and perfectly done. For main dishes, the duck confit was crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the mussels (served in a big Le Creuset pot) were good, and definitely enough to share. Just a tad disappointed with our overall experience here. After experiencing traditional bouchon lyonnaise in Lyon, we were so excited to dine here. Seating was quick as we came in a slow time but we waited about 45 minutes for appetizer and then another hour after that for food. (It was just me and my husband and we ordered apps and entree at the same time) Our overall lunch was about 2 hours 30 minutes and it wasn't even a busy time. The food was yummy and we were not in a huge rush, but still disappointed in the slow service. Place is super cute and looks authentically like a bouchon in Lyon and we got sat facing the road which made the time there more pleasant than if we had to sit inside and wait. My husband and I are kicking ourselves after recently eating here for a date night. For years, we would drive or walk by and say "we really need to try that place." Well, when we finally did, we discovered it was exceptional...and now we are sad we could have been enjoying it for years! We both started with the onion soup - probably the best french onion soup I've ever had - the cheese was decadent. We then also tried one of their appetizer specials a tarte with duck and figs. It was light, delicious and so flavorful! For our entree, I tried the sea bass with mushroom risotto - omg. So so delicious. I am sad that it was just a special and that I can't order it everytime! Came to this grove staple for dinner on NYE. We were greeted with the lovely glass of champagne and excited to have our last meal of the year. The restaurant is small and it was packed on a busy night - yet the service was still attentive. We ordered the escargots as an app and the steak frites and the chicken fricasse as mains. The star of the show was the filet of the steak frites. At $48, it came out with perfect temperature (medium rare) and beautiful cut of mignon - the cow lover in me was very happy. The sauce was creamy and I think I would opt for it on the side next time. The chicken was decadent, rich and definitely enough for two to share. It was super tasty too but after bite number 5, it gets to be a lot real fast. Would order again with a salad on the side to balance it out. The escargots were underwhelming sadly. Not the vessels of delightful buttery herbs that I was looking forward to, so would likely not order again. Le Bouchon du Grove is a Miami staple. I've been here many times before through the years, and this restaurant never disappoints. Chef and owner Christian is always there to make recommendations and for those great daily specials. This time, he recommended that I try the Alligator Blanquette, and it was mind-blowing. The fettuccine was perfectly cooked, and the Blanquette sauce was light, which made this delicate, flavorful Alligator incredibly delicious. Attention to detail and service here is always on point. If you are in the area, definitely give this restaurant a try. You will be pleased. PS: Other great dishes from here to try are moules e frites, coq au vin if avaliable. Wow, I lived in Coconut Grove/ Gables area for years and always wondered about this restaurant. I don't know why I never stopped in to try but it only took three years after I moved to try. Coconut Grove is such a posh area and Le Bouchon has all those key characteristics. It's on the main drag. It was packed with other diners. French food! Specifically Lyonnaise. After a recent trip to Paris, we were still hankering for a good French petit dejeuner and so we decided to try it. Luckily, they were able to seat us without a wait! The tables are packed in tight. This is not usually an issue, however the table legs are substantial and butt up right against the booth seating. Which is to say, it was a little difficult to get into the booth, and once I was there, there was no option to get up until we were done with our meal. And when our meal was done, the best way to get up was to have the diners on the other side of the table pull the entire table out. Brunch started with a complementary mimosa for each diner. It was at strong, but quite frankly, I prefer a juicier than champagneier mimosa. We had planned to split the petit dejeuner plate for a starter, which was said to be a cafe au lait and French bread with butter and jam. Our waiter, who was a bit gruff, was at least very honest. He advised us that it would wind up being a very expensive coffee as he would be bringing us a basket of bread with butter and jam. Easy peasy. Unfortunately, while he did provide the bread and butter, the bread was obviously defrosted as the center was ice cold. For my meal, I asked if I could get the eggs Benedict with a vegetarian swap out for the ham. They told me they couldn't do spinach and did not offer a different substitute. I ordered it anyway and it was good. If I liked ham, I might've enjoyed it better. At least the ham was cooked crisply, which was more palatable for me at least. I wound up giving my husband all of the ham. He was thrilled. The dish otherwise was good. Basic. Served with about 5 pieces of breakfast potatoes. (See photo.) My father in law got the steak sandwich and said it was good! But not special. I did enjoy my cafe au lait though! read more

Updating my review because I am so so happy to see that Le Bouchon is open again for breakfast! Of course, Le Bouchon is beloved for their classic French dishes and wines. It is a total transport to Paris, no passport required. Their breakfast menu is one of my favorites in the Grove, and I feel like enough people don't know about it! They offer awesome omelettes and some sweets like pancakes and croissants, too! Their lunch menu is filled with things like salads. soups, sandwiches and main courses. I guess the main point of this review is to say - visit Le Bouchon. It is such an escape from Miami with delicious food, great wines and friendly service. I was really disappointed in my experience here . Our drinking glasses had lipstick and food waste from past customers. The portion was bigger than I could eat, and the server boxed up only a portion of my meal then deflected blame onto another worker. I've never been to a restaurant that doesn't give you all of the food you paid for. They also have you tip in front of them. If you dine here definitely don't let them walk away with your food, sadly you're not getting anything that won't fit in a medium container back. Love the feel of the restaurant and the menu sounded amazing, but we ultimately left disappointed and hungry. We had the daily special which was a Venison loin with mash. I figured for $68 it would be a similar portion size as their Fiket Mignon(8oz for 40 and change). It was actually already cut into bites and probably weighed a total of 3 oz.. We also had the escargot which was average, a melted cheese app with almost every ingredient served as presentation, and a pate of beef and foie gras since they were out of the regular foie gras. I expect small portions at a French restaurant, but I don't expect to leave hungry and wasn't blown away by anything. Service was great and I may give them another shot for lunch(the open face sandwich sounds amazing, but I'll keep my expectations low just in case lol) read more

But then he would go on to make some errors (forgetting someone's wine, forgetting another person's french fries). My onion soup was delicious, perhaps one of the best I've ever had. Escargot, however, was meh. I'm not quite sure why a small, French restaurant would choose standard frozen french fries over house made, house cut ones, but here the chef prefers the standard frozen fries. The entrees were...good. I would have thought that there would be another chicken entree other than fricassee. A roast chicken, perhaps or a coq au vin. The restaurant was packed, and this was a Tuesday night. So it's obviously popular. But in the opinion of the four of us, the food doesn't live up to the vibe. read more

One of my all time favorites for 2 decades now. Le bouchon is (in my opinion) one of the most consistent and best restaurants in Coconut Grove. It's a casual neighborhood bistro serving up delicious french food. My personal favorites are the tomato tartare and escargot appetizers, the chicken fricasse and seabass entrées and the chocolate mousse to finish. Now, let's talk about the chicken fricasee. It's a very shareable dish that comes in a little french pot with tons of risotto like creamy mushroomy rice with this delicious fall off the bone chicken.. it's honestly one of the best chicken dishes you'll ever eat.
