Went in last week pretty excited with all the 5 star reviews, but was super disappointed. I would rate 1 star for food quality, but I rated 2 since service was fast and employees were very nice. The brisket tasted like a really tough Sunday roast with no seasoning (I had to try very, very hard to pull it apart with my hands, it was even more of a chore to chew!). The turkey was dry and bland. The sausage (especially the jalapeño cheese) was an odd gray color, telling me it had been in a warmer for too long. The pulled pork was stringy, but was the most edible of what we tried. The sides....also very disappointing, except for the onion rings which were very good. The baked potato salad smelled strongly of onion powder or French onion dip mix. The green beans were right out of a can and very greasy (with a tiny bit of bacon). The mac and cheese was ok, but nothing special at all - very processed. The pinto beans tasted only of black pepper. I was also sad about the BBQ sauce - I'm almost sure that it was straight up Sweet Baby Ray's. Our to-go order didn't include any pickles, onions or sliced bread which usually accompany BBQ. I didn't see a smoker or smell any smoke, which is also a weird and telling thing to notice about a BBQ joint. I may have caught Chopped and Sliced on a (very) bad day, but will probably not be back. read more

To say delicious is an understatement. Their brisket was fork tender and finger licking moist. Their smoked turkey breast was perfectly cooked moist with a slight smoke. Their sausage was slightly spicy and delectable. The French fries and onion rings rank up there with some of the best I have eaten and the green chili mac and cheese was well let's just say wow. I took home a price of the pecan cobbler let's say pecan rolls meet pecan pie and you get the idea. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. Just ate here for lunch today...I had one of the best chicken fried steaks that I've had in years and it's my favorite food so I consider myself a bit of a cfs connoisseur lol. I could go on and on about the food and the great service but here's what stood out more to me: there were tables of police officers scattered through the restaurant and the owner came by and spoke to each one about their meal, their day, etc. You could tell that he was genuinely having a good time hanging out with his customers. I LOVED that. Then he came over to my table, figured out it was my first time there and I mentioned that I'm from Houston. After asking about how my family and I did in the hurricane, he told me about taking his food truck down to Woodborough, near Victoria, to serve food to first responders and victims of the storm. In this time of divisiveness in our country, I needed this reminder that there are people out here that GENUINELY care about their communities and the people in it. Delicious food and exceptional staff. We were there about 30 minutes prior to closing- the food was hot and tasted fresh! We had regular and jalapeño sausage, chopped brisket and pulled pork. All had excellent flavor. The staff could not have been more polite and helpful even as they were trying to wrap up their day. read more

This is only the second 5 star review I have ever given. 4 stars from me is usually as good as it gets. I had wanted to try this place for awhile, and just never made it happen until today. I stopped in and decided on a 2-meat plate, and asked one of the servers if there was a particular meat that I just should not miss. She quickly came back with three suggestions, and I chose the green chile cheese sausage and since it was my first trip I figured I had to try the sliced brisket. I also got the baked potato salad and the green chile mac and cheese. I was not disappointed! The brisket was moist and flavorful....top notch. And the sausage...well, WOW! Very tasty. Not real spicy, but great flavor and texture. Honestly, the potato salad was fine, but wasn't really made in the style that I prefer...but that is just me. The mac and cheese wasn't heavily flavored with the green chile, but it was present and was quite tasty! So I would give the food around 4 stars, maybe 4 1/2 if we were allowed. The remaining star was for the people...I had a genuinely good time there and was flying solo, so that was pretty much all due to the staff. The service was friendly and well done, and the owner, Shawn, came out to see how I liked everything. We ended up chatting probably 20-30 minutes on bbq, the local restaurant scene, etc. He was a great guy and very engaging. Overall it was a very, very enjoyable meal. We were in town visiting our son who goes to Tech, looking for some local BBQ! We hit the mark with this quaint friendly place. Several awesome dishes that put a slightly different spin on your typical BBQ fare! Everything we tried was great including the ribs, the wrap, the baked potato salad and the green chile Mac-n-cheese! In addition to the great food, the staff and owner were super friendly! In my opinion Chopped and Sliced BBQ is the best BBQ in the Hub. Everything I've had there from the Chicken Fry to the Hamburgers to the meat platters and speciality items are great. Service is great and the wait staff is outgoing courteous and extremely friendly. Try the Philley Tacos. Their sides are really good too. Give it a try and see if you don't agree. BTW. Great food, generous portions, fair price.

Stopped by one of the local stores in the shopping mall. It was lunch time and I was hungry. Looked over and there it was. So I decided to go in. Best decision I made that day. There was a whole mess of folks leaving as I got there. They were all smiling and laughing as they were walking out onto the front porch. I asked them about the food. All of them praised the BBQ. Friendly "mom & pop" type atmosphere when you walk in. Very clean and open. Couple of tv's up above the roomy bar playing sports. Music playing in the background...just loud enough to enjoy it and not have to yell over it. Good crowd but plenty of different sized open tables. The table I sat at was neat and clean. The waitress was immediately there with a menu and asking about my drink preferences. Menu was simple and easy to read with lots of choices. The sandwich I ordered came quick. It was so big, I scraped everything off the large grilled bun and ate it with a fork. Pulled pork, bacon, pork jalapeno sausage, pickles, slaw, and a side of baked potato salad. Hot and good. Waitress was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. She never let my glass go empty. Paying the bill with credit card was quick and painless. Plan on stopping by at least once a week from now on. Definitely recommending this place to family and friends. I wish these folks much success. My idea of perfect Texas BBQ !!! read more

I spend a lot of time checking out family owned local joints and found this Lubbock gem in a quiet shopping center close to the hotels. It's a new restaurant (3 months old) and from the sign in the window should have a beer and wine permit soon. The staff is great; attentive, friendly and make you feel like you belong. I ordered the 2 meat plate (sliced brisket & pulled pork) with a couple of sides. I'm big on sides and enjoy places that make their own. Well they make it all and do a great job. I had coleslaw and pinto beans; the beans were some of the best I've had, packed with flavor and little bits of special meat treats. The brisket was lean, tender and moist and didn't need any sauce, nice lightly smoked flavor. The pork was also moist and touched with just enough sauce to bring out the sweetness. They have a BBQ sauce on the side that is so good you need to hit it just because it's there. Great place, good feel, and a future. Check it out! read more

First off the service was great, but that's all that was good. My brisket had plastic that looked like it had been cooked with the meat, the slices that didn't have plastic 2/4 slices did were tough and not very flavorful. That being said the sauce was the best part unfortunately it didn't make up for the brisket. Fries weren't bad. read more

Best BBQ in town. The staff was super friendly. The fried mac & cheese was delicious. When I called to ask about hours of operation, I was told that 5pm was the best time for a table and prompt service, as it can get very busy later. We ordered the 3-meat plate with pulled pork, sliced brisket and chicken with potato salad and onion rings. For dessert we had the apple cobbler with ice cream.
