My family and I were in the mood for a Burger and was near the Northside. We decided to check out Choppers because someone said their burgers were pretty good....WELLL...SOMEBODY LIED!!!! I placed my order at the counter 1 Charbroiled cheeseburger, 1 double cheeseburger, 1 order of French fry, 1 Malt, and an order of mozzarella sticks for my son. After ordering, I paid for my food and stepped to the side and within 2 minutes all of it was ready. THAT WAS THE 1ST RED FLAG. I was wondering how did they have my burgers ready within 2 minutes. My husband immediate noticed the burgers were FROZEN PATTIES AND WERE ALREADY PRE-COOKED..When we order they removed the patty from a warmer and placed it on a grill. The burger was a perfect rectangle thin shape.which tell me it wasn't fresh beef. You cant possibly char-grill, and make a fresh burger in 2 minutes and 11 seconds. The fries were the best thing I ordered out of the entire meal. They were fresh and steak cut. The mozzarella sticks were bland and frozen! My malt contained too much syrup and was nothing to write home about. I will never return back to Choppers simply because the burgers are only put on the grill to melt the cheese and quickly taken off! Disappointing for $11!! The price was amazing was seven dollars for, two burgers grilled onions, lettuce, tomato pickle mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup came with some steak fries and coleslaw. So why not lets go there. Its lunchtime and we at work like to try places not so far. My co-worker wanted that Quad burger and for me thats a big no thank you! Way too much greasiness to consume an there is no way I would even attempt it. I did go for the hamburger and they made a mistake when I got to my office as it was a double cheeseburger. But who's mad? Did I say I was mad? It was an honest and very cool mistake. The burgers are seriously very well seasoned and I for one love when a burger is made this way. Perfection? I bit into the burger and it tasted odd. No fresh burger meat chargrilled. This tasted like a high school cafeteria burger - no quality just cheap/soy /meat blend. I ate the burger and thought it was me. However I took the 2nd burger home and attempted to eat it. It tasted horrible. I got no fresh quality chart burger taste instead that cheap meat taste. I threw it out . What a waste. Completely regret ordering. This place went from 5 stars to 0 if I could give it. Food was delicious. Needed to grab dinner after my wine tasting in Old Town. Location was perfect as it was right off of North and Ashland. Pretty easy to get to location parking somewhat difficult. I was able to get in an order right away, my food was ready within one minute. I think they just have the burgers going and the fries getting fried quickly. I got the double cheeseburger special and it was very delicious. I had it when I got home with a glass of wine. Perfect to have a delicious double cheeseburger with the best Cabernet (Caymus $85 a bottle) on the market. I was really a happy and full with my selection. I finished the Burger, however I didn't finish the cole slaw or the French fries. However I save the French fries to have the next morning. I'm sure they'll do well being reheated in the air fryer. This meal probably could be shared with my husband if we just wanted a quick snack before going to sleep. The good food coupled with the appropriate pricing is what awards Choppers a five stars for me. In addition, you can get ridiculously sized portions for less than $10 - up to a quad burger - and it's actually tasty. You're not left sitting with the thought "dang, I guess I got what I paid for." Rather, you're left sitting with the thought "this was a good value, what's the catch?" Add on some cheesy fries and a milkshake and you have a full meal at about half the price that you're used to paying in the area. Furthermore on the milkshakes, they label their milkshakes as "the best in Chicago" and I truly believe that they deserve this title. There are many flavors to choose from, and none will disappoint. Since it was the first time we've came the workers were nice and patient. The food I have to say was really good! My partner and I ordered 2 choppaks. I'm not a fan of red meat but I was willing to try. Super delicious I have to say it was a 10/10 . As for drinks, my partner got the fresh banana milkshake. I have been looking for a good burger in Wicker Park that doesn't cost 20+ dollars. Even some of the 15 dollars ones are just garbage. I have probably tried about 20 different places already in the area. I took a different route into work today because of traffic and i saw this place. Looked interesting and unique. Went here for lunch at 12:30 today, easy parking in small lot, the worker there going back in the door held it open for me, nice touch. Guy at the counter was polite, place was clean all around, I ordered the "choppak" with everything and regular strawberry milkshake. Get this! I was only 13 bucks after tax! Woot Woot! Got it to go and on the way out the door I decided I would eat in my car (just couldn't wait to get back to the office). Opened it up and the burger looked amazing. Two good sized patties, yummy grilled onions, tomatoes and everything else that make a good burger, the buns are even a notch up from cheap hamburger buns. Fries were hot and good, nothing super special, but not bad in any way. Same story for the cole slaw. ok, just standard cole slaw. Strawberry shake was also TOP NOTCH, too thick for the straw until it melted a bit and I do like that in the bottom of my cup were 3-4 big chunks of real strawberries. Great Job Choppers!!! We didn't want the normal "chain" restaurants. Most of the exits were closed at the time, but somehow I found Choppers on my gps and hallelujah the exit was open. The food was what I expected, processed goodness. Ha. I really enjoyed the fried mushrooms. The restaurant forgot to put cheese on my burger so I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I wanted, but I'm sure it would have tasted better with it. I tried to slab all that cheese from my cheese fries on there to compensate. The fries could have been a little less drenched in cheese but they were good.
