When my friend comes back in town for a visit, we alternate between different bars to get our group of Cowboys fans together. Choppers has been on that rotation for years, depending on the time of the game and who else is playing. This place gets packed! It's normal for sports bars to be packed on game day but something about this layout makes it feel especially crowded. It's loud, again, not uncommon. Sometimes the service is a little slow, nothing that's annoying and everything that's understanding when it's busy. We usually go for wings or nachos and order pitchers because of our group size. It's good portions, if a little pricier than other places. The crowds are usually friendly and enthusiastic, which makes it a fun environment for sports fans. I was here with some friends for a Love Island watch party which was awesome! However the food quality fell short. The chicken tenders had no flavor and were similar to a chicken cutlet so the texture was off. It did not help that the tots were cold. My sister had the non alcoholic Paloma and the flavors were way off, she would not recommend. My friend got the chicken wrap and it was not great she would not recommend that either. I had the Steak Frites and I enjoyed it. The steak was cooked the way I wanted and the Parmesan fries were a nice touch. The prices were a little steep for the quality of food. My friend and I went for the avalanche game on Saturday night and we had a great time. We showed up about an hour before the game and the bar started to fill-in as it was closer to game time. We had a great server who kept checking on us and making sure that we had everything we needed. We had the nachos and the Philly eggrolls, which both were delicious. The nachos were good and I enjoyed the fact that each chip was a separate nacho and not just a pile of tortilla chips and cheese or some tortilla chips. Don't get cheese. But each chip was its own nacho complete with salsa, sour cream, and you have the option to add guacamole. The Philly eggrolls were delicious and there was a little cheese sauce to dip them in which chefs kiss. We came because we heard that they like the siren when the Avs score the little red bell box on the top of the ceiling in the middle of the bar. Turns out it's broken and it short circuits every time they turn on so instead, they just do a siren noise which was much less exciting But still something compared to other bars. read more

Good for the right occasions, but some major downfalls overall- I think choppers is a great place to go for watching a game or for trivia night to have some drinks, but personally I would rather beforehand. I went recently and ordered the blackened chicken Cesar wrap, it was $18 and said it was filled with the chicken, romaine, roasted tomatoes, bacon, and dressing on a spinach tortilla..... when my wrap arrived it had chicken and shredded lettuce, missing most of the ingredients. When I asked the waitress to see if the kitchen could either re-make it or give me the rest of the fillings, they took it back, and it returned with slightly more lettuce and Rae tomatoes with a side of dressing in a cup. Not sure how you can screw up that bad twice, but all that to say that the food is not worth the price at all. The 3 stars is because I really do love their trivia and enjoy having out and getting a drink. read more

Normally this is a great place. The food is always good and service is always great too. The Nuggets, Broncos, and Avalanche are all on TV this afternoon. I figured Choppers would be a great place to watch all 3 games. When I got there they told me it was only NFL today and no Nuggets or Avalanche. Very disappointing that a long time Nuggets bar would drop the ball like this. The DNVR Bar was a great alternative. Texas game, Lord, that place was hopping! I ended up sitting outside as I was playing music in a park two blocks away and just needed some food before the gig. I got very lucky and found a place not near a TV! Service was slow but it was expected however, I explained I needed to eat quickly. I ordered sone hot wings and tots. Simple. Not that excited about the new menu. They removed several dishes I ordered regularly. Of the new things I've tried, the bison chili was the best. Also, one of their best things was the onion rings that came atop the jalapeno cream cheese burger. Without those it is just an OK burger. Not sure why they have the hate for onion rings, those would be the best side they would have if they offered them as a side. The DJ during NFL games is also pretty annoying, they play the music way too loud and you cannot have a conversation during the commercials which is one of the best things about watching games with your friends. read more

Well we came to grab brunch and watch football. Parking was very difficult to find as there were no parking signs everywhere. We ended up having to sit outside with no view of a TV. Ordered bloody marys which were probably the worst bloody marys I've ever had and it took 30min to get them- very watery and no goodies in them at all. I got a breakfast burrito which was the weirdest I've ever had- smothered in beans and cheese, some eggs and bacon inside but mostly filled with French fries and tater tots. It was a big greasy mess. I guess the menu should have said smothered breakfast burrito since it was not what I envisioned for brunch. read more

If you want to catch a game with friends and some beers, it's a good spot, but for good quality food it's not a place I would recommend. I came in here for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat today, Veterans Day. I sat at the bar for nearly 5 minutes before a woman came out from the kitchen area and noticed that me and someone else had come in and were sitting at the bar. That, in and of itself, would not have been a big deal at all, people get busy. I ordered a screwdriver and a glass of water and off she went. She returned a few minutes later and asked if I had decided on a drink. I had to remind her that I had already ordered a screwdriver. She made the drink and brought it to me (minus the water). I was going to order the smoked carnitas, but she recommended the pablano quesadillas, so I went with that. She told me her name was Jamie and asked if I wanted a water (apparently she had forgotten that I already asked for one and not gotten it) and I said yes, when you have a chance. About 25-30 minutes passed and I was sitting there with an empty glass, no food yet, and still no water. She comes back by and asked if I was thinking of having another drink. At this point it was clear that she had forgotten about my food (if she even put the order in at all). I said I was good, put a $20 on the counter and left. Not only will I NEVER be back to Choppers again, but I'm going to make it my life's mission to tell everyone I know, for the rest of my life, to never, ever, ever go to Choppers. My friend told me to meet him for lunch at Choppers. When I arrived I realized it was formerly Rick's Cafe from way back in the day when I lived in Denver. It's now a great sports bar. I'm sure it's been around for a while. I don't live in Denver anymore so I'm out of the loop. I love the setup Nice and open. Screens everywhere with some kind of sporting activity going on. You can sit anywhere and have a screen to view. There are booths on the side and tables aplenty in the middle. You seat yourself. I was there on a Saturday afternoon in December for lunch. It wasn't crowded at all, but I'm sure it's a pretty popular place to hang out during Bronco games and other major sporting events. The server was very friendly, efficient, and personable. Well done! For food, I had the fried chicken sandwich. $10.50, and a side of homemade potato chips. $3. Yah, it's all ala carte. The chicken itself tasted great but the bun was cold and a bit soggy. Bummer. It would have been off the charts awesome if they at least heated the bun a bit. Too bad so many places have great things between the buns but the buns fall short. Hardly anyone gets the bun part right. I'll never know why but I'll keep mentioning it in my Yelp reviews until it becomes a thing everyone expects when they order a dang sandwich!! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! They make their own potato chips and they are a must-try! To me, they are perfect. Just enough salt. So good! It was $45 plus tip for lunch for two people. No alcohol, just Arnold Palmers (which they do well). No parking lot but street parking was surprisingly plentiful and easy. read more
