You're transported to Miami and honestly it's ideal if you're there for the vibes. Drinks were phenomenally dangerous and service was great! You can tell it's a place that serves food because they sorta have to with how expansive their bar menu is -- I'd bet that most of their food is pretty good! Ay Papi is one of my new favorite late afternoon spots in Cherry Creek! Sat at the bar with a friend and enjoyed a few cocktails and apps. Yes, it was pretty pricey (at least $16 per drink) but totally worth the fun, upscale experience. For myself, I got the Spicy Guava Daiquiri and Rum Old Fashioned. SO GOOD! I'm a sucker for anything with guava in it. Speaking of which, my favorite snack was the Guava Cheese Dip. We also ordered the Warm Provolone Dip. Both were tasty. I especially like how bright this bar is. So much natural light. And great demographic (very Cherry Creek) which made me wish I dressed up more. Best service to out of town and locals! We were running 20 minutes behind and they don't have a number but I quickly DMed them on instagram and got a response right away that they will wait for us. Upon arrival they greeted our party ecstatic and although we were only doing drinks we got some apps. Their queso was delicious and the variety of drinks they had were fun to choose from. Ok, so the only reason I have 3 stars is the price. I do not recall, ever paying $62.50 for 3 drinks, anywhere in Denver so I was legit shocked when I got the bill. The other reason I was slightly annoyed is they add gratuity to your bill. The server told us they did, but then asked if I wanted to tip more... and it was on the screen when I put my credit card in and it just felt a little tacky... so of course I now have to tip more as she's standing over me waiting. They opened last year on July 4th. The owner, Juan Padro of Creative Concepts is Puerto Rican and has Cuban heritage. Very friendly and inviting cocktail space with a tiled floor, cane wicker chairs and stools with lots of natural light from the overhead skylight and lots of hanging plants. Staff were playful & fun. You need a reservation for an inside seat, so I used the OpenTable app. The app wouldn't let me reserve for 1 person, so I lied. The hostess said no problem. If you don't have a reservation, the patio out front is FCFS. Nice menu of house & seasonal cocktails, frozen drinks, alcohol free and wine by the glass. The food menu has snacks, larger plates and sandwiches. I started with a frozen layered strawberry daiquiri/Pina colada. Tasted good but a bit disappointing being rather small for $16. I added the stuffed medjool dates with goat cheese. A nice counterpoint. I switched to a Rum Old Fashioned with a snack of marinated olives and cubes of manchego cheese. They add a 20% service charge, so no additional tipping is needed. They have a handicap lift from the patio to the main floor for drinks or restrooms. Overall, a great spot for cocktails. read more

What a beautiful new place to get a cocktail in cherry creek! We came here over the weekend (Saturday) for the first time and it did not disappoint! They, by some miracle, were even able to accommodate a table of 5 for us. The cocktails were great, the service was fast considering it was busy. This bar is narrow and long, so it could be challenging to walk around when really busy. Friends of ours said they had come the night before and that it was packed. Four of us went to Ay Papi for drinks before dinner reservations elsewhere. We were (just) able to walk in at 6pm on a Saturday, no reservation, so that wasn't too bad. DRINKS: Some fine rum-forward drinks. I had a couple of versions of a mojito. We also had at the table a fantastic daiquiri, good cuba libres; a very rummy rum old fashioned, and a few others. Everything was quite tasty -- the drinks are the stars here. FOOD: The food menu is pretty limited, and little of it seemed the natural small plate sort of thing. We did order one of their cubano sandwiches and asked to have it cut in four pieces, and it was very good. AMBIANCE: On the up side, lots of white paint and long skylight give the whole interior a bright, airy feel. That's good, because the building is quite narrow, with bar on one side and small tables on the other and a tight passageway between them. When the place is crowded, it can get a little claustrophobic, even if well lit. Along with that is the sound level, which definitely hits the "loud" level -- but at our tiny four-top, we were able to converse comfortably, so it wasn't too bad. Nice, up-beat Latin music in the background was marred by the blown speaker buzzing and bumping overhead. In addition to the interior, the patio area is chock-a-block with more tables. . SERVICE: Our server was attentive without being pushy, and got us everything we asked for. Of course, we were sitting in the back, near the POS station, so she couldn't exactly avoid us, but she did a fine job. (Note: the bar charges a standard 20% service charge; any tipping beyond that is at the diner's discretion. I had no hesitation adding to the tip.) NET-NET: A fun place for good drinks and, if that's what you are looking for, some tasty sandwiches. Not quite my cuppa, so I don't know that I'll be back, but that's because of what I'm looking for, not because of what Ay Papi pretty decently provides. read more

Also, when we got there, we had to ask the hostess if we were to seat ourselves, or if they were to seat us as she was ignoring us. New bar, I just happened to stop in the week after they opened it. Love the vibe, it's very tropical and Miami. The music is great, lots of great Spanish music and the drinks were on-point - especially the Mai Tai. I appreciated the Mezcal Mule they made me as well. Bar was really busy so getting help required some work, but it definitely wasn't from a lack of trying on the staff's part, they were just really busy. Caring and Safe environment! I came in for a drink with a friend and was unfortunately followed by some guys who made us feel uncomfortable. I snuck a quick note to the bartender and immediately all matters were handled and even the manager came over to check in on me personally. He assured their objective of maintaining a safe environment and they were above and beyond in proving that. Ay Papi is a new bar in Denver! We saw this place on TikTok and decided to check it out after brunch at SOL. We really enjoyed the ambience, as it was lively and they had music playing. The staff was really friendly and was able to accommodate our party of 6. It was a bit of a tight squeeze to get us all in their smaller tables but it worked out. The drinks were good but weren't the best of the best. We enjoyed and them and would come back to this place for sure. It was a bit pricey and it took some time to get our drinks, which is why I'm taking off a star. But otherwise we had a good experience. read more
