Since I was alone for the holidays I wanted to come get a waffle from Chops & eggs. Timing, service & appearance was all great. I ordered a strawberry banana waffle but there were EGG SHELLS in the batter mix I'm assuming it was a cracked egg & a cook may have left behind the shells because I found lots of cracked egg shells in the waffle. This place has a real country style feel for it due to the inside decor. It is layered with lots of wood and gives it that nice country appeal. It is well kept, nice and clean with that in itself is real inviting. The food is real good, huge portions I mean a nice big plate to go with that appetite. I went in for a late dinner but I am looking forward to going in the morning for one of those huge omelets. The drinks were alright, a bit on the weak side in my opinion and kind of pricey. This place was definitely one for the books. The inside was cleaned overall, carpet was run down but it didn't freak me out or anything, great customer service from the morning team. Joliee was our server and she was amazing, attentive, funny and courteous - she really kept our table flowing. Thank you Joliee for the laughter and great jokes. Now onto the food. I ordered the chorizo hash that had Jalapeños, and cooked potatoes squares that also included side of eggs and a biscuit delivered on a skillet, and my husband ordered the big ol' pig omelette that had bacon, ham, sausage, cheese and green peppers, topped with some type of chipotle sauce that was freakin delicious!!! Let me tell you, the food was DELICIOUS!!!! I would definitely recommend and will return to the lunch and dinner times to check those meals out. They have a full bar and serve excellent coffee as well. My husband got the Pork Chop and eggs, of course. His chop was juicy and tender. His eggs were such a pretty color and he was using that beautiful biscuit to soak up any yolk that seeped out. I had the Spinach and Mushroom Omelette. The red pepper cream sauce was out of this world tasty. I swear the menu said it was a 3 egg omelette, but it felt bigger. The Swiss they used had such good flavor. I've been here 5 times throughout my 18 months living in Corpus and I remember each time as if I was on a memorable vacation. They aren't lying about being fresh. I absolutely love that this is a small business who uses ingredients from local farmers Right on the menu it says "Please allow our kitchen time to prepare your meal. You wouldn't rush your mom, would ya?" Meaning, it's fresh AF and it'll be worth the wait. The best way to describe the seafood omelette is "ridiculous". They literally stuff $50 worth of seafood in this thing. My aunt visiting from Michigan LOVED it. I think her talking about it to my father convinced him to book his $500 flight to come visit me because right when I picked him up from the airport he told me to take him to the "Seafood omelette place". This place has been extremely busy every time I've been here. I've never witnessed any staff member being stressed about it. Now when I walked into this restaurant, I didn't expect much to be honest. My friend was telling me how good this place was, but I was a little skeptical. First time here after hearing about this place for some time. Took my parents for Father's day weekend. There was no wait when we came in and we were able to get a booth. Started our meal with some sweet tea and a carafe of mimosa. The basics was just what my Dad needed. Eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and toast. Next was my moms plate of B Tacos. The tacos were stuffed and came garnished with a slice of fresh watermelon and some rosemary for decoration. I ordered the roast chicken hash with 2 eggs over medium, potatoes, chicken, and goat cheese. Plus a homemade biscuit. The biscuit was delicious. The service was amazing and our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. She knew when our drinks needed refilling and telepathically knew I needed a to go box. Let me tell you a little secret. Order the Ramzi's Favorite and add mushrooms for an additional 50 cents. It's 50 cents cheaper than the Forest Bene but is the EXACT same menu item PLUS bacon - YAY bacon! Each eggs benedict dish includes plenty of biscuits and a ton of mashed taters - almost too many taters. My only complaint was that each dish was a tad on the salty side. Plenty of asparagus and fresh spinach though. The service is great here, the prices are decent, the atmosphere really great, and the portions are HUGE! Mimosas are $4 each. Came in on a Sunday mornin for family breakfast and sad this place disappointed The first wait we were told was 20 to 30 minutes then around the 25 minute mark we went to go check the wait was 5-10 minute. We completely understand that I'd was a busy Sunday morning however it was the way the little girl working the front with glasses acted when we had simply asked after the 5-10 minute wait. She was rude for no reason I completely understand the str of having to operate a packed house however this stress should not be noticeable to a paying customer. Got there at 5PM. Left there at 5:18PM. Should have known there was a problem when we walked in and had to wait and wait and wait for someone to come to the front. There was ONE other table there eating with a baby...not another single patron. Waited and waited and waited for someone to #1, come out and #2, acknowledge us.
