This is a super cool concert venue with picnic table seating and reserved seating in old railway cars. The food and drink menues are limited outside so eat before the show inside the restaurant. The Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls were a fav and believe it or not, the Ahi Tuna Lettuce wraps were perfect! If the weather is nice, you are sure to enjoy listening to some great music here. From the minute you walk in it's awkward. There is a to-go stand with nobody working it so you have to peek around the corner to see where everything is at and then you just end up seating yourself. The menu sucks. There is no telling what the hell they are trying to accomplish with it. I get you want to be different but keep the food simple. My girlfriend had the Ahi Lettuce Wraps. These were not lettuce wraps, these were lettuce tacos and they were a disaster. Her food fell all over the plate when she picked it up and tried to take a bite. It's just as well because it tasted as bad as it looked. I had the Havana Grilled Cheese and again, this was in no way a grilled cheese sandwich, it was a pork sandwich with cheese, however, it was not too bad. It also came with about 15 chips and was served on a small bread cutting board. Apparently there isn't room for 16 chips.....to bad. The waitress was sweet and replaced the lettuce tacos with a tiny bowl of chili for $4.00....another FAIL. Not only will we not be back...I will not even look in their direction while I am headed down 377. Came here for a work happy hour/dinner. Maybe 10-15 of us? We had the place to ourselves from 6 pm to 8 pm, when I left. The chicken fingers were pretty good, and HUGE. Fries were good, kind of just ordered several apps for the group to share between the couple tables we had. I wasn't impressed by the "garlic naan", but the hummus was good with the chips. Our waitress was very good and fun. She got 2 stars herself. Maybe 3.5 overall? Lots of flat screens, a couple were not operational, but still on? I took a half star for the flat screens. I'll have to come back to see if they can improve the rating. Maybe during a music night, as they had a stage that was empty. It was cool/cold outside, but there was plenty of seating outside for when it's nice/events. Parking can be interesting around this area, but you should be able to find a spot. read more

Yesterday I went to this location for my friends birthday. I wanted to say our waitstaff was not very knowledgeable about the menu, hard to find and just not very professional. We ordered appetizers let me say the chips and dip combo was okay but not great for the cost. Then we ordered food my husband got the Fatty and I got the Strawberry Salad with Chicken. My husband said the burger was ok but wasn't very big. My salad was good but never could find the waiter to tell him I needed more dressing. After the food we went to the concert outside. I think if you have a venue like that you supply fans to everyone not the people who paid extra. I am sorry to say I love the concept but I won't be back and either will any of my friends. Got here around 6pm which was good since it was NOT crowded. Plenty of parking, which is an issue in Roanoke. Lots of restaurants, but terrible parking in this area. Service was great. Margaritas on special tonight and excellent! Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Rib Eye. Lots of crust, but a good flavor. This included mashed potatoes and they were good. Thankfully they did not put the peels in their mashed potatoes, not a fan of that trend. My wife had the enchiladas. Be warned the queso on that platter is VERY SPICY! Only issue was the band did a LOUD sound check 90 minutes before their show. Come on, that is a bit too early. Sides are an a la carte item. Been here multiple times, early during the weekend. Always had great service and never dissatisfied. Everytime we've been here, the ourside patio has always been wide open. Came in on a Saturday night, and not so much. We asked and were told no about opening up patio panels! The place is pretty busy, weather great, so really confused? You want business? I was really excited to hear about this venue coming to Roanoke, this was going to be my new watering hole and concert venue right in my back yard. My first visit was a Thursday night during preseason football, light crowd, lots of TV's, the usual bar and grill environment. Then I saw the beer menu, excuse me? $6 for a pint of Miller Lite? Imports $7 and up? Beer in a can only $.50 less? My bar food appetizer was good and I'm no cheapskate, but beer is beer, and anybody out with friends to have a good time and get their drink on is going to be mighty unhappy when the bill arrives. This place won't be here in 2 years unless they climb off their high horse and adjust their prices, Bronson Rock is 10 minutes up the road, better bands and better prices. read more

Review for Music Venue Only- Honestly as an experienced yelper I do not get all the negative reviews and I am a service/price conscience person. We need more places that are live music venues in NE and N parts of Tarrant County and Chopshop fits this bill perfectly. This is a great add to the music scene. Outdoor venue with plenty of room to stand and numerous open seating, first come, first serve picnic tables to sit. Sound and lighting are good quality. I do not drink, but it looked like beers were $7 or so. It appears they do charge a small cover dependent upon the band, it was $5 for an 80s metal cover band, I am sure it could be higher for more popular acts. They have tons of staff and decent bathrooms outside. Tons of free parking nearby, although it can be crowded in downtown Roanoke on Friday/Saturday nights. Also it looked like the Roanoke PD had cars hidden in a few spots when we left, most likely on DUI patrol so be careful. Although it was around 90 degrees it really wasn't too hot at the venue. Also looks like they are constructing some form of structure for when it gets cold. They do separate the music venue from the restaurant part, bur inside looked like it had great TVs for sports. read more

Came for a show only. Paid at the door for a hair band with a strong following. Was lucky to get a table in the back. Still a good view. No waitress so we had to go to the bar for drinks. We ordered- very basic drinks and they were subpar. Was glad they had some games like a punching bag and the hoop competition game to keep us busy during the down time. Can't comment on food though. Rating bars is tricky. It's tricky because you have to begin the assessment fairly. First of all, what is the establishment trying to do for its customers? It's trying to help people let loose by getting them sloppy drunk. When I walked into Chopshop Live in Roanoke, I knew one thing: I was going to get bombed. So I'll start the review there. Chopshop Live is like an overblown neighborhood bar. The TV screens are numerous and huge. There are so many TV screens, the largest one is literally hanging over the stage, which has to bug the live act (Randy Rogers is in some capacity associated with this bar; you'd think the live act would get a little more respect). There are quite a few tables, and when we arrived, there was a big enough crowd to get stuck on a waiting list. The back patio was closed due to the cold weather, but while we waited for our table, we snuck out anyway and surveyed the second much larger stage with about 30 picnic tables in front of it. Guess a great show could be had there, but we were out of luck that night. It didn't take long to get a table, and we took our place at one of the high tops near the entrance. The waitress appeared after a few minutes and we began our descent into hell. It didn't help that there were quite a few kids present. That weirded us out and made us feel like heathens, but the sweet vodka deadened that feeling more and more as the night wore on. We were smart enough to balance out our night of debauchery with a healthy mix of appetizers, and we ordered the bologna sliders, chips and dip and corn dogs. The bologna sliders were a delightfully simple variation on the traditional beef fare, and the meat combined with the Hawaiian sweet roll was a nice change of pace. Nothing is better than a greasy beef corn dog, and these did not disappoint either. But the real surprise of the evening were the chips and dip. Not only did it come with salsa, but also queso and an extremely delicious chili. We could not stop eating the chili. Seriously, we could not stop eating it. I'm pretty sure I'll be sitting in some other bar, some other night, and I'll suddenly crave that chili. Serving craveable food isn't an easy feat for a bar to achieve, so I have to give credit where it's due. Chopshop Live in Roanoke is a fun time with some interesting food and stiff drinks. If you're in the area, and you need to celebrate a win or forget a loss, this place might help you do it. Don't forget the chips and dip though. And the chili. read more

You have to position yourself to see the beer list on the big screen because there is not a menu to look at. Ordered Lakewood Temptress and it was served in a plastic cup for the same price ($7) as it would have been in a glass. 2nd visit and really had higher hopes for the size of the place with the outside event section which I haven't checked out. read more

Two weeks in a row we have seen GREAT bands and the actual venue is attractive and accessible. Trying to get a drink or food during a concert is a ONE PLUS hour wait. They are horribly prepared for the crowds they have. That being said the food was good, it just took an hour to get to us and the bars are well understaffed and slow. We came for the opening concert: Tributes to The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. First, we ate in the restaurant that is housed in the Quonset hut-shaped metal building. Spacious and comfortable. The menu selection is salads, hamburgers, chicken wings, and your most popular American bar food. We shared a burger, fries, and side Caesar salad. Each dish was fresh, tasty and unique. We each had a cocktail along with sharing the food, and the tab came to about $37 (including tip). After dinner, we moved outside for the concert. There are plenty of picnic tables to sit at. There are also shipping containers cut out and repurposed into reserved bar seating. Pretty cool idea. The stage is huge. The acoustics are really good. Rocking and rolling in the great outdoors! I've been here a couple times with my friends and my boyfriend and everytime we come it's always an amazing experience. Everyone (except one lady bartender - don't know her name) is soooo sweet. The food is amazing and great to snack on while having a few drinks. I called in to ask about their margaritas and Cory, a bartender, answered the phone and said to ask for him and he'd take care of us and he did! So sweet, great service, very attentive, and even took the last round of drinks to our table in the back. The elote is FIRE and I love the sliders. If your going to charge cover for your band , make sure you have someone manning the front door and don't make your waitstaff ask " if y'all want to stay and hear the music we need to charge you cover" after drinks have been purchased ... lots of confused and upset patrons because your "cya" to get the band paid. We paid $8 for a 3 inch kid's corndog (because it was Kobe beef, apparently, as if my child is a food blogger...I saw $8 for a corndog and figured it would be massive!), had a forgotten entree, incorrect beer (but still charged us!), and a waiter that said "not on me" when approached.
