I made a reservation to celebrate a friend's special occasion and specifically selected standard seating--not outdoor. When we arrived, we were told our only immediate option was to sit outside in 99-degree heat. Otherwise, we would have to wait another 20-25 minutes for an indoor table. That completely defeated the purpose of making a reservation. It was embarrassing because I had planned this celebration, expecting the reservation to ensure the seating I requested. If indoor seating wasn't actually available, that should have been communicated before we arrived so we could have made other plans. To make matters worse, the dark-haired hostess was dismissive and offered very little help. The blonde hostess at least seemed to understand our frustration and showed some empathy, which I appreciated. A reservation should mean something or if standard does not mean indoor, there should be an explanation. The hostess stated they can't see what you select as far as seating which doesn't seem to make sense. Unfortunately, this experience left us disappointed before our celebration even began. This was my first visit to HG Sply in Trophy Club, and I was surprised that my experience didn't match the overall Yelp rating. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which looked generous but was unfortunately dry and lacking in flavor, with an overwhelming amount of fries on the plate. Julie's grilled chicken salad was fresh but very heavy on kale and light on chicken, so the balance felt off. With a drink and starter, our total was around $75, and the value just wasn't there for us. After visiting, I noticed some of the more recent reviews have been less positive, and I probably should have looked at those more closely. I have Celiac Disease so it is very difficult to find restaurants that have delicious food and a commitment to preparing food that is allergy-friendly. This is one is my favorite places because I can relax and enjoy something delicious without being worried about getting sick later. I met a friend for a late lunch. We had a 1:00 reservation on a Sunday so we had access to their brunch menu (in addiction to the regular food). So many great options (so many gluten-free choices). I had the Seared #1 tuna and my choice of 2 sides. I picked the jasmine rice and the asparagus salad. The seared tuna was amazing - absolutely delicious. So was the rice. The asparagus salad was okay but will be better warmed up I think. My friend had sweet potato waffles and sausage. Everything was gluten free. HG Sply is a pretty standard American restaurant. I came here for dinner during a work trip since the restaurant was close to where I stayed. Service was friendly, and I was seated quickly. While I'd say this is not one of the premier BBQ spots in the DFW area, it is very good. Better than 3.8 but not quite 5. We had a large group (25ish people) and the service was phenomenal. We had several servers attending to our group since we were so large and they were attentive and friendly. They were also fast to respond with drink orders and to refill the buffet. Now, you're thinking, BUFFET??? No thanks! But you'd be wrong. The pulled pork nachos and the grilled chicken were amazing. I wasn't a big fan of the steak though it's likely better with table service. I wasn't a fan of the rice but the broccoli was very good as well. I can recommend HG even though there are hundreds of BBQ spots in the area. You'll find a more fine dining steakhouse/BBQ joint if that's what outs looking for but if you want something more casual but still quality, HG is a solid choice. read more

I am a huge fan of HG Sply in Dallas, so decided to come try it over here. The menu differs from the Dallas one, a bit. However, that small changes mattered to me because my favorite dishes weren't available. The sides are not the same quality as the Dallas location, either. And the drinks are still good, but Dallas location has a better menu even for the cocktails. I'm giving this location 4 stars simply because the Dallas location is better so my expectations were already really high. But the restaurant is still a good visit. read more

I'm allergic to onions and I asked for no onion and got them still the fries were pretty good, but for a medium burger it was pretty dry. Came here to celebrate my brother's last day before deployment. We've visited twice now-both times were mon, late afternoon. We got the burger special they have for 10.99. (a real bargain) The meat is well seasoned, cooked well and has great flavor. Love their Dallas location, visited this spot assuming it would be the same - not close. Appetizer was spoiled/cold, inedible. Chips were served in a pool of oil, salad had wilted lettuce and meat was overcooked/dry. Burgers were as expected, the only item to be good, fries were inedible as well from heavy salt. Dallas location made everything fresh, takes a little for everything to come out. This location had everything to the table quick and everything was room temperature or cool, seemed pre-prepared? Can't say for sure, of course. We stopped going to HG Supply Trophy Club several years ago because we felt the quality of food never measured up to other sports bar-related establishments in the Trophy Club, Colleyville, North Richland Hills, and Keller area. However, we decided to give this establishment another try. I called the restaurant on Thursday morning and spoke to the lead hostess, Morgan. Morgan is the epitome of a customer service-driven individual: energetic, enthusiastic, and well-meaning. I asked Morgan if HG Supply would be broadcasting the Dallas Stars hockey game at 7 PM that evening. She responded enthusiastically that the hockey game would be shown in the courtyard area of the restaurant. I then asked if they would be broadcasting the audio for the game, and she assured me that they would. My friends and I arrived at HG Supply an hour before the game to ensure we had good seats at the bar for the Stars hockey game. We sat at the bar and were pleased to see the television already tuned to ESPN for the hockey game. I asked the bartender when they would be turning on the audio for the game. The bartender seemed disinterested and somewhat distracted, despite there being only four of us at the bar. I asked my question a second time, wondering when they would turn on the audio for the game. He responded, "I haven't decided whether I'm going to put the audio on or not." I mentioned to the bartender that we specifically came to the restaurant to watch the hockey game with the audio and were assured by Morgan that the audio would be on in the courtyard area. His body language indicated that he was actively ignoring my request. I repeated that Morgan assured us the audio would be on. He then responded that he would decide on the audio "later on," as he was gauging the audience in the courtyard. The audience was mostly men, so I'm not sure why a monumental "decision" needed to be made regarding the most important Dallas Stars hockey game of the season. I decided to go back to the reception area to speak with Morgan directly and hopefully elevate my issue to a manager. Unfortunately, when I approached the reception desk, Morgan had just finished her shift. I asked the hostess if I could speak with the manager, and she fetched the bartender. I tried to reason with the bartender, explaining the importance of the game and the promise that was made to us regarding the audio. I didn't think it was fair for us to wait until he made a "decision" on the audio, which, according to him, could happen right at the start of the game. He responded in a rather snide way, "if you're asking me to make a decision now, that decision is NO." So, this will be the last time we ever give this facility any of our business. As my friends and I were leaving the courtyard bar area and heading back to our cars, I noticed the dilapidated condition of the entire courtyard area. All of the outdoor furniture had bird droppings all over the backrests, plastic empty glasses on the floor, and just a general unkempt condition. (I guarantee you, your girlfriend or wife would not want to be sitting on that furniture) It's very disappointing to see a facility with such potential to deliver a great customer experience fall into such disrepair and employ such disrespectful people. The Brussels have this chili flavor but also a hint of sweet. Soooo good. The chicken thigh dish was my favorite. So much flavor, the skin was crispy and the slaw it was sitting on was a perfect match. I would come back here for this dish alone! The drinks were good also. I got a juice they offer in mimosa form. The mimosa was really good and after just one I had a slight buzz! They need a bottomless mimosa option lol I got chicken and waffles for my meal. The waffles were good and the chicken was crispy and juicy but the chicken lacked flavor. Eggs were decent. They come over easy but I got them scrambled. My friend got French toast sticks and these were the most interesting French toast sticks I've ever tried. They were more cake like. Reminded me of like spice cake or carrot cake in texture and flavor. The breading was like chopped nuts and something else. Very interesting but they were honestly delicious. Checked in on Yelp while at the table and got free queso coupon. Decided to use it. Queso is vegan, cashew queso. It was a bit tangy and not really my vibe but it wasn't nasty. I made a reservation for a small group and the process was easy. When we arrived they seated us quickly indoors and brought us menus. Our waitress Jada was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and usually around if we had a question or needed a re-fill. I ordered the cochinata nachos with a substitute of chicken instead of pork. The nachos were a huge size and could easily be two meals. They don't skimp on the meat, dressing or cheese which I appreciate. The nachos were full of flavor, dense and the ingredients were cooked well. The prices were on par with nearby restauraunts. Everyone in our group appeared to enjoy their meals as well. I didn't want to get another drink because I didn't want to be told again they didn't have it available. Had the vegan queso and it was a little bland and the amount of queso they gave was not enough for the chips they give you. The chips were also greasy. Had the Mahi Mahi tacos and the fish tasted over cooked but I suppose they were trying to get a char flavor and the avocado crema didn't have much flavor to neutralize the char taste of the fish. This restaurant surprised me, in a good way. I had driven past it hundreds of times thinking it was likely a giant sports bar type of menu with little creativity or flavor challenges, like every other sports bar. So, when my son suggested our family meet there for dinner I was okay with it, but not expecting much. I was wrong, because there is a lot to HQ Supply. The space is very cool, with lots of different spaces inside and out and an upscale industrial feel to it. So, the ambiance was better than expected. Second, I was impressed with the beer, drinks and wine list because it had items that are a step above the typical. Then third and most important, the menu and food were creative and excellent. At our table we had two salads with salmon added - the Mediterranean Chopped and the Spinach. The salmon was generous for a salad and perfectly grilled. Mine was the Mediterranean Chopped Salad and the flavor mix was outstanding. Great combination of salty, sweet, creamy and hot (spicy) ingredients with nothing overpowering the other. The kick from the harissa yogurt might scare a few people away, but I found it to be outstanding. My wife had the Veggie Club which I had a few mites of and it was perfect. Good size, perfectly toasted bread and fresh and crisp veggies mixed well with the avocado, feta and aioli. This is a sandwich I would order and have again and again. We also had a Bison Burger and a Stir Fry. They were each very well done and presented. On a cooler day (it was 100 degrees the day we were there), I would venture into the Bowls and the Chili, which sounded excellent. We, I will stop just driving by on 114 and begin stopping in to experience this restaurant again. By the way, service was also excellent, with just the right level of attentiveness. Let me start off by saying I NEVER leave reviews. I don't have the patience for it hahaha. But today had to be one of the worst service experiences I've ever had at the Trophy Club location. Our server Anthony was non existent. It took 10 minutes to be greeted and it was not busy at all. We went at 3:30 pm on a Saturday. It then took my husband 20 minutes to finally get his drink and that's only because I asked the hostess to track our server down. I could see him folding napkins and talking but he would not come to our table. We placed our order and the order came out wrong. We never saw Anthony again except to correct our order. My husband had to order another drink from the bar because we had no server and we closed out at the bar because again no server. This whole process left us there for 1.5 hours. Nothing should have taken this long. Very disappointed in the service today. My husband and I have both been servers in our younger years and will completely give grace if we can see our server struggling because it's busy. Both pizzas were EXTREMELY burnt and tasted absolutely awful -- not just overcooked, but genuinely inedible. The burn taste along with a disgusting taste almost indescribable. AS WELL AS the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl was EXTREMELY fishy and had a tough, unpleasant texture with noticeable tendons in it, which made it hard to eat.
