Nice small restaurant. We ordered our food to go and it probably took 10 minutes for our foots to be ready so the food was made quickly which we appreciated. I ordered the firecracker shrimp (there's a meal and an appetizer so make sure you know which one you're ordering). We were looking for some place to dine that we had not been to before, and found Chopsticks. My son had a bowl with corn, a "salad" and THE most tender little pork riblets! They slid off the bone. He also got a bowl of amazing sweet potato fries. The salty/sweet flavor with cinnamon was beyond fabulous, I hated to eat the last one, they are so hot and fresh, crispy. I am drooling for some right now! I had Banh Mi and while smaller than I have had before, it was also more flavorful . If I had a suggestion, it would be that the servings should be bigger for the price. The roll was perfectly crispy, but small. It is clean and the staff very friendly. New great Asian fusion spot in Hutto! As an Asian foodie who hails from New York City, I am ALWAYS on the lookout for great new Asian eateries, and I'm super happy Chopsticks is one of them! First, a technical suggestion: DO NOT order online anywhere except direct from their website. I used DoorDash and the order was canceled. There is some sort of snafu with syncing restaurant hours and availability of processing orders. The owner was nice enough to even call me and apologize for the mixup! The food looked so good in the pictures, that even though my first attempt at ordering delivery failed, I STILL ordered from them and it did NOT disappoint. A treatment to the quality of this place! Here's what I ordered: 1 Blast: Dynamite Shrimp $10.00 NO SAUCE A piece of advice - get the sauce with the shrimp! Incredibly delicious lovingly crafted Vietnamese food served with a smile. My Son and I were craving Bahn Mi but we looked up Vietnamese near me and found this wonderful Gem. It was a rainy day so I chose the Vietnamese Noodle soup, not Pho but Hu Tiu Go. Comes with either rice or egg noodles and thinly sliced pork Sausage green onions, beansprouts and little cubes of pork skin/fat. It was heavenly, delicious, perfectly balanced and very satisfying. My Son had the BBQ Pork ribs with Friend Brussels sprouts (these are so great - and on the level of Madam Ma's Thai appetizer in Austin) perfectly seasoned, not greasy and just the right mount of fried crunch and tangy sweet sauce. The ribs were sweet and succulent, and so perfectly cooked he was able to removed all the meat from the bones with his chopsticks. Also ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and the Lemongrass Black tea. The iced coffee was strong and velvety smooth just the way he loves it. The Lemongrass tea was unexpected - similar to the fruity boba tea drinks I've had but without the boba and just as tasty. It came out very quick and the portion size was perfect for us. It is a modern cafe style inside and very worth your time. EXCELLENT FOOD!!! and so reasonably priced that we are looking forward to coming back and enjoying this tasty quality Vietnamese food made from the heart, crafted with love. Great Vietnamese food truck, a wee bit out of the way for me. I always appreciate a food truck location with ample parking! I am less likely to go try a food truck without designated parking. I came specifically to try the nem nuong, grilled pork rolls. I love all things spring rolls related. I got it to go. A good portion for 2 people or 1 super hungry person like I normally am. The nem nuong itself was good, good seasoning. I ate half as spring rolls and half as bun nem nuong (like vermicelli bowl). Came with fried egg roll skin and mango strips. The mango was a different twist for me, added some freshness to the rolls. For now, nem nuong is available on Mondays and Wednesdays. Check their IG for menu changes and specials. read more

I was pretty excited to go here! And it did not disappoint! But I just got a new Puppy and can't leave her at home just yet, so I called to see if they have seats outside, and they do! A couple of wooden benches on the side of the building. But I did have to leave her in the car for a second just to order, because they do not have menu pamphlets as of yet. So I do think that would be a good thing for the future. That and a menu with the differences in take away items, as the Pull off Bao, and Bunny Pudding cannot be bought for take out. That being said the service was amazing! And so was the food. The first time there, I got The pull off Bao, and the bunny pudding there. With Wings and Hu Tieu Go, to go. It was sooo good, and the bone literally just fell out.... Was yummy. The bunny pudding was so great! Cute and wonderful and , hell, I'll come just to order this! Oh and I got some tea! I can't recall it, think it was like a peach lemongrass tea, could be wrong, but it was good! (A little weird because it came with a spoon, and I kept getting the lemon grass in my mouth instead of the peach... but still good) Later at home the Hu Tieu Go was still so hot! And was very good... The flavor was unexpected... it was like a mix of pho flavors and peanut flavor to me.. was interesting and quite good. Like wise the wings were unexpected, I fully did not expect the wing to be on the wings. Just different than expected. But beware, these will sneak up on you, hahaha. Pretty dam spicy! Haha. Good but not great, but then again I am a bit of a wing snob. A couple weeks later I ordered for take away, and they had 2 separate take away Boas... Bulgogi and Pork Belly. We ordered both. So happy to see they have opened their first brick and mortar as we used to frequent the food truck. We have tried a lot of the items on the menu and our favorites have been the mi thieu, the spare ribs, the corn and the beef mango. I love the broth in the soup, it has such a strong umami flavor. The sweet pork ribs are also super tender and fall off the bone, with a sweet sticky glaze. The corn appetizer is very flavorful with a subtle fish sauce flavor and a crunchy texture with the crispy pieces in it. One of the best things about the menu is the drink menu. The peach lemongrass is so light, refreshing, and addicting!! The lychee is also delicious and the coconut water is fresh. Our only complaint is that the prices are a little high, $17 for the sweet pork bowl and you have to pay extra if you want rice. read more

A tasty update (August 07, 2024). Like: cheddar fries, firecracker shrimp bowl, hu tieu noodle bowl. Dislike: tender pork delight bowl, banh canh, signature wings (meh). I tried most of their entrees and appetizers. I like the hu tieu noodle bowl the most and I wouldn't mind paying more for a large or extra large portion. Too bad there's very limited soupy entree options. The omission of pho noodle is a strategic move as Austin has quite a few good pho places such as Pho Phong Luu, 1618, 888 Pan Asian Restaurant, Broth & Basil, etc as pho cooking is a labor and time consuming process. The firecracker shrimp bowl is good but the spring mix salad was too little and merely there to fluff the volume without contributing much to fullness. The new style of bowl they use is to make the food appear more than what it really is. I would steer clear of the banh canh because one time I ordered it was very smelly probably because it wasn't a hot selling item and defrosted rather than cooked the same day. The tender pork delight bowl was tender and juicy but too heavy on the sweet which ruined its enjoyment. The cheddar fries is a safe choice for any age. The bunny pudding dessert could be improved by using a more flavorful jelly jam and thoroughly stirring it before serving to customers. Overall I don't think the $17 priced entrees are worth its charge given the small portion size and lack of side dish. For $17 I could get a nice bento box at Miso Restaurant. In the summer it can get very hot inside the restaurant so best to time your visit or order takeout. Fusion is a safe choice for Americans to try asian cuisine with a sense of familiarity and can serve as a stepping stone for more traditional dishes down the road. read more

You gotta give Chopsticks a lot of credit for originality. This is Asian fusion that is not your grandmother's Asian fusion. You are NOT looking at American Chinese plus Sushi. You are looking at a 50 percent Vietnamese and 50 percent Korean fried chicken. Wrap your mind around that. It is also 50 percent what Americans hate and 50 percent what Americans adore. The 50 percent part that Americans hate is the location. The food truck is in a grungy industrial dirt lot next to two bars and some kind of auto repair/salvage. The highway right next to you does not help. I could not wait to get off his lot. The 50 percent that Americans adore is sugar. Lots and lots of sugar. Americans buy vast amounts of sesame chicken, orange chicken, glazed Korean fried chicken etc etc. Most Asian places that cater to American tastes are subtle about this issue and make only about 25% of their menu super-sweet. Chopsticks is up front and in your face about it - with sweet dishes making up most of the menu. I am on-again off-again with the concept of super sweet Asian dishes. But I do kill for sesame chicken. * * * I like the guy who runs Chopsticks a lot. I like the fact that his sweet dishes are not the same ones you always get. I like the fact that there is a lot of soul and creative integrity in what he does. I like the fact that he is super friendly and super sociable. And I LOVE his tamarind juice drink. * * * Do not leave his stand without getting a Tamarind Juice Drink. This is whole pieces of Tamarind on the bottom, Tamarind Juice Drink and Ice in the middle and Peanuts on the top. You heard that right. Peanuts. You start it with a straw and finish it with a spoon. If I could have that drink every day for the rest of my life, I would not complain. * * * As for the rest of his menu - Let's face it. The quality of sweet and sour pork has gone downhill in virtually every Chinese-American restaurant I know. The next great Asian sweet entree may easily come out of this guy's truck. Eat through his menu. I was not super keen on the glazed wings I had. But I strongly suspect that one of his menu items could be my next addiction.
